What about short legs? They definitely slow me down. Any way to make my legs longer so I can keep up with my tall friends?

Cooked rice means after it's cooked...i.e. fluffy. 1 cup is 1 measuring cup. If you eat 3 cups of rice at a Chinese restaurant that's a LOT of rice! Like a LOT. I wouldn't be able to move after eating that much rice in one sitting. And yes, rice is calorically "expensive."

Honestly, you should learn to eat some food. Over the last several days you've been living on vitamin supplements, diet coke, and beer.

Someone's going to make a killing when they come out with fat-free, low carb, gluten-free, vegan body lotion. Mark my words...

oh...bummer...

That makes sense. I understand that it won't record steps that aren't steps (like cycling, etc.) but it will still record cals burned, right? I put my kids to bed with it on just now and it recorded ten "very active minutes." haha...

That's a big help! Thank you!

I realized this after I had posted. But it's ok...still good info to share.

Lots of misinformation here. I've met a lot of people in WLS support groups who, shortly after surgery (especially gastric bypass), physically couldn't take in more than 600 or 700 calories a day. These were people who were hugely morbidly obese and being closely monitored by their docs. The weight came off fast, and as…

You can drink soda. You shouldn't because it's crap for you, but it is physically possible with the band.

I had lap band surgery in May 2012. I've had ups and downs but I've never regretted it and overall it was the right choice for me. One thing I like about the band over he other surgeries is that I have no malabsorption issues and I can choose how much or how little restriction I want or need at any particular time. The…

I hate milk but love cheese, yogurt, ice cream. I like bananas but hate banana flavored things, like banana bread and banana pudding. I like alcohol in a glass but hate alcohol infused desserts, like crepes Suzettes or baba au rhum.

Lots of good advice here. I just wanted to add that ever since I cut back on alcohol (just back, never entirely out -- I'm half French and couldn't live without my vin rouge), I only need a glass or two (ok, three) before I'm done. I don't drink to get drunk, but I find that my tolerance has dropped so that more than three…

I drink when I'm thirsty. Lucky for me, water is all I drink, except for one or two cups of black coffee in the morning. And wine on weekends. But I love water and it's not hard for me to drink. I think the whole "8-cups-a-day" thing is a public health campaign to get people off the sodas and other sweet drinks, which…

Yes, but she's trying to avoid animal fat. I thought that might include dairy. *shrug*
-
No, she's eating 1700 cals (a deficit, I assume) and trying to improve her diet by avoiding refined sugars and animal fat. (Personally I love me some animal fat.). It's the 1700 cals that will cause the loss. I'm guessing she's hungry because (a) she's not eating enough protein and fat and maybe hasn't filled up on low cal…

No, I'm not a big "eating clean" fanatic, I know that calorie deficit is the way to go. The OP is just starting out and she's trying to make improvements to her diet. It bugs me the way people jump all over a post just because someone uses a term that has been deemed "silly" by the cliques. Give a girl a break. Just sayin'
-
We all have days that are harder to get through than others. "Just maintain a deficit" is fine if you don't have food addiction issues like I do, and maybe the OP does. Benefit of the doubt, people... Peanut butter is a great suggestion. Also nuts. I also like fat free cottage cheese or fat free greek yogurt. Lots of…

My problems with food are closely tied with emotions. In the past I would get serious and lose weight by restricting calories, working out diligently, etc., but whenever life threw me a curve ball, as life is wont to do, I would cope with the stress/sadness/boredom/anxiety by overeating....then I would feel guilty, punish…

I have some Champion bottoms with a zippered pocket where I put my key and/or wedding ring (for lifting weights). Try these: http://www.target.com/p/c9-by-champion-women-s-reversible-premium-capri-tight-assorted-color/-/A-13711180#prodSlot=medium_1_27&term=women's c9 champion pants Sorry, I've tried hyperlinking on this…

Agreed! When I was in high school (early 80s), convenience stores didn't have "healthy" options like they do now. My friends and I would go to the corner convenience store every day for lunch, which often consisted of a bag of chips, a candy bar, and a soda. Oh and bubble gum for dessert. That would be my definition of…

Hard to define but I know it when I see it.

Maybe so, I'll try it. Thanks :)

I've tried many, they're all nasty. I misunderstood the bit about the maltodextrin, sorry. I was just curious why the hours-long aftertaste. Oh well.

Thank you for the helpful suggestion!

Yes

I don't think it's placebo. It tastes sweet...it's not in my head...

Then I don't know what they're using to sweeten it. I read a bunch of articles but none of them was very straightforward.
