Eating Clean

I am trying this whole idea of "eating clean," and trying to eliminate refined sugars, and most animal fats from my diet. And, so far, I am so hungry despite eating over 1700 calories. All I want to do is shove my face in a bucket of sugar and butter. Why, why body? Why do you have to scream so loudly about starving? Anyhow, I'm having a hard day. End venting.

Eat a tablespoon of peanut butter.
It has more nutrients than regular butter. It has protein, healthy fat and it tastes good.
That became my go to when I felt hungry at the end of the day. It's also quite filling. My new "dessert" is a tablespoon of chocolate chips (semi sweet or dark) and a tablespoon or so of peanut butter. Satisfies my sweet tooth and it is packed with nutrients.0 -
Are you getting fats from something else? That will help you feel full.0

If it's too hard, why are you doing it? Just maintain a deficit.I am trying this whole idea of "eating clean," and trying to eliminate refined sugars, and most animal fats from my diet. Why are you avoiding animal fats? They're natural ... especially grass-fed stuff ...0

Closed diary = no idea of what could be the problem0

We all have days that are harder to get through than others. "Just maintain a deficit" is fine if you don't have food addiction issues like I do, and maybe the OP does. Benefit of the doubt, people...
Peanut butter is a great suggestion. Also nuts. I also like fat free cottage cheese or fat free greek yogurt. Lots of protein, zero fat (unlike regular reduced fat cheese, which tastes like rubber, fat free cottage cheese is ok...and fat "full" greek yogurt is just too much for me). Hang in there...tomorrow will be easier.

Fat free cottage cheese is filled with gums and thickeners ... better off to go with the 1%, it's only milk, cream, rennet, and salt ... and FAGE makes a 2% Greek yogurt, I think it has a better texture and flavor than the 0% ... 0% is kind of chalky ...0 -
I'm sorry, but how does eating clean have any correlation to food addiction? Regardless of the approach, proper deficit = loss. why are you torturing yourself?
Just eat in a 500 cal deficit a day and you will be fine ...0 -
so clean eating trumps food addiction? If you eat 500 calories over maintenance per day of "clean food" you will gain weight...We all have days that are harder to get through than others. Some people are more likely to binge on "unhealthy" (quoting, because the term is subjective) foods ...0 -

No, I'm not a big "eating clean" fanatic, I know that calorie deficit is the way to go. The OP is just starting out and she's trying to make improvements to her diet. It bugs me the way people jump all over a post just because someone uses a term that has been deemed "silly" by the cliques. Give a girl a break. Just sayin'0 -

No, she's eating 1700 cals (a deficit, I assume) and trying to improve her diet by avoiding refined sugars and animal fat. (Personally I love me some animal fat.). It's the 1700 cals that will cause the loss. I'm guessing she's hungry because (a) she's not eating enough protein and fat and maybe hasn't filled up on low cal stuff like vegs and/or (b) because she's used to eating a lot more volume. I'm not saying she does have a food addiction, I'm just saying it's not always as easy as "oh, just eat less." Too many unknown variables.0 -

Yes, but she's trying to avoid animal fat. I thought that might include dairy. *shrug*0 -
I know very little about this eating clean lark and I am a little confused looking at your diary how that is counted as clean as cheese is processed as is whey powder but hey as I said I don't know huge amounts about it and the myriad of definitions.
That is by the by you need foods that will fill you up a lunch of a little bit of pineapple cucumber and a tomato and some protein drink is really not going to fill anyone up as you had one day. Dump the protein powders and use those calories for some real food and get your protein that way which will fill you up more
I think you need to think about the content of your meals a bit more get some balance. Personally i wouldn't obsess about eating clean get your meals balanced reduce processed food and you'll be fine.
i'm a vegan so if you still want to avoid animal fats or dairy feel free to add me if you want to ask any questions about avoiding those things0 -
