  • Hi. I'd love to keep in touch to talk, chat, b..ch about our age-related ups and downs. I'm 56 and, after being a vegetarian for 36 years, I have a cholesterol level of 238. My doc says I can try to get it down by eating better and losing weight, so here I am. I've lost 16lbs over the last 2 years (before I knew about my…
  • HI! I'd like to join this group since it (partly) defines who I am. I really like the idea of monthly goals, too. Just coming off Rosh HaShannah and Yom Kippur reminded me of being guilty of gluttony, which is one of the things we ask forgiveness for. I must say that after a 24-hr fast, my old ways came right back when it…
  • I weigh in pretty much daily also unless I've just pigged out the night/day before. I see some fluctuation but it's nice to see when I maintain and when I lose. For me it takes a lot for the tape to show any changes. It can take up to 5lbs to see a difference, which discourages me.
  • I have found that using the forums is fun! I enjoy sharing my journey and listening to others' advice. I also like to hear your day to day notes about how you're doing and what you found helpful. It's nice to have a group of people going through the same things you are. So, How are you doing? - Ruth
  • Welcome newbies! What a big step it is to start logging food. I, too, have been on diets galore, all to no permanent avail. I've found logging my food and exercising to be the best. My efforts become real when I can see what I've eaten right in front of me. I've tried to write it down, before computers, but found it to be…
  • HI, I'm Ruth from Maryland. How was everyone's day? How are you doing so far? My day has been pretty good. I'm tending to my daughter who had all four of her wisdom teeth taken out yesterday and went on an interview this morning. Run, Run, Run, but unfortunately no exercise today. Food - good, Exercise - not so much.…
  • Good Morning from Maryland! I am so bad at knowing how to use these posts/blogs but I'm learning. I mentioned that I had lost 15lbs with my daughter on mfp but gained the 5 back, as well as stopped logging my food (that was two summers ago, not 3). The summer is easier for me because I don't have work (I'm a special ed.…
  • Wow, what a day! I brought my daughter into the dentist to get her wisdom teeth removed and then waited on her - very tiring! We're bringing her up to Ithaca College on Saturday. She's a freshman. I have an interview tomorrow morning and am trying to get prepped for it but my head is going in a million directions. As I was…
  • Hi - I'd love to give support - and get it too! I think that step one was to admit that you need support and you're on the right track by using MyFitnessPal. Try to say to yourself "I am ready - I can do this!". We all want to lose weight and get in shape but I've found that I need my mind to be ready to act on my wishes.…
  • Hey and Hello! I've been doing MyFitnessPal for 3 years now. My first year I lost 15lbs. by doing it with my daughter. Then I gained 5lbs. back within a year. I just lost them again and am on my way down another 10, by doing 5 at a time. I didn't use any of the message boards before, so I'm hoping I can feel like I have…
