When my motivation is waning, I go back and review my MFP bio and goals to remind myself why I'm doing this. Not every day/month/year will go smoothly tor us, so it's important to keep your goals in front of you like a road map to give you strength to perservere. A good friend of mine here on MFP wrote a blot called "The…

Many foods are entered manually by members from recipes and indirect sources. When you choose a food to add, check the nutrition info and there is an option to confirm its accuracy. If it gets enough inaccurate votes they remove it from the database. I add my foods by scanning the package bar code with the scan option on…

Think about this, we're all eating food every day, trusting the labels and losing weight. You gotta believe that most of them are accurate right? Otherwise we would be posting in another forum complaining that we're eating right and not losing weight. That being said, the less processed food you eat, the better off you…

Agreed, however metabolism generally slows with age. Everyone is different, some people's metabolisms don't slow and others do. Depending on your choice of fuel and amount of exercise, you can raise your metabolism to a high level and burn large amounts of calories at any age. It's just much easier when you're 21...

^^This^^ When I was 21 I ate 7000 calorie meals with no problems, but I was extremely active in multi-sports and could easily burn the calories. I don't have "cheat days" I eat anything I want in moderation and choose healthier foods and it works for me. As Side Steel stated, you may want to be a little more careful with…

At a European Union level, mandatory tolerances for nutrition labeling have not been set, except in the case of the declaration of fat content in spreadable fats. Some Member States (MS) have developed national guidelines for tolerances on the declaration of vitamin and mineral content as well as for macro-nutrients such…

I love fudgescicles and eat the "no sugar added" every day (different brands when on sale) as well as Skinny Cow. May have to stick to Skinny Cow from now on...

I'll have to research Caz, pretty sure the UK has different standards but still the concern has to be how do they monitor and enforce manufacturers claims? I'll do a little research and post an update for the UK

Those who are willing to sacrifice their freedom don't deserve it. Seriously, you think more legislation will stop people from stuffing their pie holes with unhealthy food? Reality check please.

Kindle Fire The OS is a bit buggy and qwirky, but it's a nice reader and handles the interwebz stuff OK, but as OP said it really needs more memory and external storage chip.

I agree, it's an important issue to me personally. I know Movember is a growing movement internationally and I think it's a great way to bring awareness to the issue. I won't participate because I look horrible in a moustache and my wife would make me sleep outside until I shaved it or grew a beard. LOL It can get cold…

I've heard of Movember, definitely a worthy cause, especially for middle aged fat men. I did a little research and my initial concern with the Movember United States charity is that they didn't file an IRS 990 for 2011 and their fiscal year ended almost 4 months ago. They may have filed it and just haven't gotten around to…

Don't buy into the marketing hype. For me, it's a lifestyle change not a race. I'm looking to change my relationship with food for the long run. Supplements and fad diets were only temporary fixes for me, then I put the weight back on plus more without addressing the core issue. Chances are you didn't put the weight on in…

Flax seeds, flax oil, chia seeds, any of these suggestions are good. You can add the ground flax to your oatmeal, it's yummy. Lots of salads, fruit and plenty of water. Oatmeal, nuts, peanut butter and rice do the same thing to me. Flax oil works best for me

You can eat what you want and still be healthy and lose weight...or you can eat what you want and be unhealthy and fat...it's your choice. Many people on MFP prove both every day. Fear of failure or fear of success are both the same, F.E.A.R. False Evidence Appearing Real. I've been fat my whole life as well, I'm just not…

Au contraire I disputed the statement that muscle does not weigh more than fat. It's really sad that you can't separate the two issues. Go troll another post

Read the ingredients label. A blend of 7 herbs including green and oolong teas, caffine, ginseng, and B vitamins among others. A single serving -- 2 capsules -- contains 1,000 percent of daily value of thiamine, riboflavin, niacin and vitamin B-12, based on a 2,000 calorie diet. A serving also contains 500 percent and 250…

No...it doesn't...1 pound of fat and 1 pound of muscle weigh exactly the same...
