I do have to say, as a librarian, that the Popular Wisdom of "8 glasses of water per day" is indeed a mythical number and idea. Please note that I am NOT saying that drinking only one cup per day is good for you, or any such nonsense. However, it's true that nobody seems to know from where that arbitrary number came. Even…

Yikes! Fortunately, it seems that a lot of the calories are coming from the rice in a Nigiri-style sushi, which has some big chunks of rice under them, but I tend to eat vegetarian maki rolls, which are a bit lower in the rice content. Either way, sushi is pretty yummy!

Thanks, guys! I've set up an appointment to have my RMR tested next week. I figured it's worth the money to take some of the guesswork out of the equation.

Boooo-uuuummmpppppp.... :)

I just made a microwaved baked apple, just in honor of this thread, and because you all were making me hungry!!! :)

WANT!!! All of them! Nummmmm!

I had to have a hysterectomy pretty young, but I'm still hormonally cycling, since I have my overies. It's sort of frustrating, since I don't know exactly when my "un-period" (as my DH calls it) is anymore. Therefore, if the scale is up, I'm not sure if it's TOM bloating, or what! :(

Thank you for your responses. I'll see if I can convince my husband to take some scantily clad pictures of me. I'm sure I'll have to twist his arm really hard. Lol! I actually do have an under-active thyroid problem, but it should be under control, according to my last test results. I've heard good things about increasing…

Oh, my gosh! These all sound so yummy that now I want soup for breakfast!!

I've never received a creepy friend request! I think I'm offended. I'm not creep-worthy... *Waaaaaaahhhhhhh*

My husband and I did a walking tour of Bucktown and Wicker Park (below) through Chicago Food Planet. It was REALLY neat, and pretty inexpensive for getting a lot of food, exercise, and history! http://www.chicagofoodplanet.com/tours/bucktownwicker-park-tour/

I've been maintaining for three months. The problem is that I don't WANT to be maintaining! Lol! Wicker Park has some fabulous foodies places, doesn't it? Yum!

P.S. During my weight-lifting session the other day, it said that I had burned 400 calories for the hour. In my 1.6ish mile walk yesterday, it said, 287, my Fitbit said 197.

If I average the last four weeks, I've been taking 5,463 per day. I am starting to wonder if my Fitbit is catching all of my steps, though, because I used to average more like 7,000 per day. Since I stopped doing very many walks, my steps have come down. I'm lifting weights three times per week, and trying to "lift heavy",…

You are probably right about the pictures. I'm not sure what to take them in, though, since MFP has been so militant lately about any skin showing. I was thinking that a sports bra or tank top and stretch pants might be good, but if I ever want to put up "before and after" pictures, maybe not. I should probably just keep…

I am faithfully using my kitchen scale, and not trying to eyeball! :)

Okay, so some people were bumping for updates. It's been a little over three weeks since I started upping my calories and lifting weights. So far, what's happened is: nothing. :( No weight loss, no inches lost, no clothes fitting differently. Actually that's true for the whole 3.5 months that I've been doing this. Since…

Okay, would somebody mind checking to see if I did this right? Because my new Polar FT7 seems to be calculating REALLY high: Stats: Female, 39 years old, 5'3", 157 pounds 38% body fat (according to my trainer's Omron machine-Covert Bailey was a full 10 percentage points lower at 28%?????? ) I'm aiming for eating 1650…

I know that this is an older thread, but I don't want to start another one on the same topic. So I have a lot of the same fears as the OP. I get that the scale number is not as important as the measurements, but I'm not losing either one, and I've been "lifting heavy" for almost two months. Does it just take awhile? I've…

Thank you all very much!!!

I love good balsamic on ANYTHING! It's fabulous if you take some sliced strawberries mashed with a bit of sugar, and marinate them in a little balsamic, and then put it over vanilla ice cream. Seriously! Try it! You'll be amazed!

My advice? Do not do the 23 points thing. That actually equals around 920 calories (40 calories per point), which is nowhere near enough, especially if you have a low fruit or veggie day, and ESPECIALLY if you are exercising, too. Say you have a low fruit and veggie day for some reason, and that brings the total up to 1000…

Thank you! That should keep us in movies for a little while! I'd forgotten about some of those!
