That link doesn't seem to lead to a group... Does it have a new link? Or does anyone have the name? Thanks!

Thank you! I'd never even heard of CHP. I guess I have some research to do!
-
Thanks! Will it matter about the CHP if I will only be walking, not running? (I have bad joints.) :)

Oh, and he said that they won't do anything about the bone spur unless I have surgery for some reason, and then they'd smooth it out or something. "Smoothing out" a bone sounds icky when you think of how they might have to do it. A nail file? Lol.

I actually got into the orthopedic doctor yesterday. He took X-rays of both knees for comparison purposes, but did not take an MRI, so he can't tell for sure about any soft tissue damage, but he thinks I have some degenerative arthritis. I also have a bone spur at the base of my kneecap. He wants me to do some physical…

Suannemarie-I did rest it for quite a long time, because I was having hip problems as well, so it definitely had some nice long rests. No ice or wraps, nothing but walking, and definitely more of a gradual onset. LiziAB-I've got a really good pair of still new-ish Asics, so really good support. Diyah13-Wow! You've been…

I'd be interested in knowing about some of those food choices, too! Thanks for sharing!

That's not good about it being a fad drug. :( I wasn't really expecting it to be a weight loss drug, but my endocrinologist did say that it might help me with getting my weight under control. She said that my glucose numbers might be the culprits of why I wasn't losing weight, even though I was "doing everything right" for…

I've been sloooooooowly losing a little bit of weight now that I'm on it. I'm not sure if it's helping the process, or if it's just that I'm eating less because I don't feel well sometimes. I think a little bit of both.
-
Well, I'm still having ups and downs now that I've been on metformin for a month and a half. I'm still not sure what sets me off to have a bad day on the meds, but I had a REALLY bad time after having two cocktails the other night. I'm not sure if that was related or not. How are you all doing? :)

It's "bump up" day again. We'll see how this one goes. A friend of mine, whose mom had severe diabetes and seems to know a lot about it, is shocked that the doctor isn't having me check my blood sugar at least occasionally. She thinks I'm getting lightheaded etc. from the medicine pushing my blood sugar lower than I'm used…
-
That's great, MCLA4mom! Congrats! :)
-
Well, so far the pattern seems to be that the second day after I bump up the amount is the worst. I felt horrible for most of the day. I kept feeling overheated, and had those tippy, foggy, "I haven't eaten in way too long" feelings, even though I had eaten. Maybe it's pushing my blood sugar lower than I'm used to, so I…

Claw0416, keep us updated! :)
-
Today is the day I move up to two pills for a total of 1,000 mg(or whatevers) on my way to 2,000 in two more weeks. Hopefully it will go well! :)
-
Claw0416, could it be low potassium? If you've been having any GI issues that might lead to dehydration, that could do it, too. Definitely checking with your doctor would be a good plan!
-
I made it through the day yesterday without any bad "experiences"! TMI, I suppose, but yay!!! :)
-
Thanks, cubbies77! I always thought it was so you didn't get sick, and didn't realize about the absorption. Interesting!

Yikes! The uterine tumor sounds scary! Sorry that happened to you!! I don't have PCOS ( or at least I don't think I do), and I had to have an early hysterectomy at ago 38, so hopefully no PCOS-like things will happen. I'll definitely keep taking it with food. I heard that they won't prescribe the extended-release unless…

Thanks, all! I am stepping up my dose over four weeks, per the doctor's orders, so for this first week, I'm taking 500 per day, then increasing it by 500 more each week until I'm up to the 2000 daily in week four. Hopefully that will help. I'm already having lower GI issues (if you know what I mean), but hopefully that…

Well, it's confirmed, dang it. "Prediabetes." My new fasting glucose level was 106, and my A1C was 6.0. I'll start the metformin today. My doctor did prescribe the gradual upping method, with one pill once per day this week, then next week one in the morning and one at night, and then the next week two in the morning and…

Or heard of it? :P

What, nobody lives in or has visited LA???? LOL!! :)
-
I've been told I should mention the general neighborhood, since the LA area is so big: the first part of the week, we are at a hotel near the Convention Center, by City West, the Historic Core, and the Jewelry District. After the conference, we'll have to move someplace else for a few days. We were even talking about…
-
I noticed that, too, but I decided to politely not mention it. Lol.
-
That TOTALLY rings true! LOL!! :)
-
Thank you! Yes, the medical stuff is all in remission, so that's good. That would give me a percentage ratio of protein/fat/carbs of 30/45/25. Is that really right?
-
LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!! That would certainly increase the NEAT factor!
-
For awhile I was walking pretty regularly, and then I was "lifting heavy" for months, but nothing was changing. :( Right now I'm not doing anything, but I'm ready to start again. :)
-
I knew that you wouldn't, but I realized I said I was willing to try pretty much anything. Though I think I did say anything "healthy". Lol.
