Because I'm sick of my flabby pooch and love handles.

Very extrovert. Was introverted until around 28, then decided it sucked and did the "fake it til you make it" thing. Now it's natural.

There is lots of information out there, you should have a good read before deciding to start. Basically you eat under 50g of carbs a day, eat 1g per pound lean body mass of protein and eat the rest of your calories as fat.
-
You can eat as little as you want. People have eaten nothing and just had water, vitamins and minerals and can do it for weeks or months if you have enough stored fat.
-
Low carb diets cause lots of water loss in the first few days.

I'm 46 and next summer I'm going to rock a bikini! Stick with us and you could too! ;)

Wasn't getting at you, just wanted to make sure she understood. :) http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators/tdee-calculator.html That's your TDEE. Your Total Daily Energy Expenditure. Basically how many calories a day you burn just going about your day. So if your TDEE is, say, 2200, you can only eat 1200 and already you've…
-
No. What I said the first time. :) Do you know your TDEE?
-
right. But you didn't say deficit. You said "burn more than she takes in". theres a difference. :)
-
Not burn 1633 more than she takes in. I think you meant 1633 less than her TDEE? She can eat at a 1000 deficit and burn 600 with exercise.
-
That's a lot! But not hugely excessive. Good luck!
-
Done.
-
Yes, be careful. Those grammar Nazis can be a brutal bunch.
-
No it doesn't. :)

Why care about sugar as long as you stay at a calorie deficit? I had them as elevensies for a month or two, but they were a tad boring. I've replaced them with almonds.
-
Light weight training will only burn 100-200 calories, so I wouldn't worry too much. Perhaps a protein shake afterwards? You can get around 200 calories and a ton of vitamins and minerals and amino acids out of them if you find the right one.

Read it all again! Stop doing cardio, just lift weights and walk a few miles.

Feel free to add me if you'd like some support!

Also, don't just jump straight from deficit to maintenance. Take a week or two to add the calories back.

I've been in Ketosis since last Wednesday. The only time I felt tired was the few hours as my body switched over. I feel exactly the same as before now. My body will fully convert to using ketones over the next 2 weeks. Bear in mind though that for a "fat loss diet", ketosis is not necessary. Just having low carbs is fine.…

I'd much rather be with a chubby confident girl than a hot timid one.

I'm not diabetic, but I do try to eat as though I was. I'm on a low carb diet if I can be any help.

ermahgerd! protirn!

Dietary fat <> body fat. That so out-dated!

I got it. Sorry about the slow folks.

Let's say you're eating at 500 calories under your TDEE every day. but one day you feel the need to eat something extra. Perhaps you met a friend and go out to eat. well, if you eat those 500 calories that day, then you're STILL only eating at TDEE. You won't put *any* weight on, but equally you won't lose any that day.…
