Yay! Great thread, glad to hear there are some fellow run/lifters! I lift 5 times a week and currently running 20 miles a week. Also training for a full but mine isn't until next October. I see a personal trainer who knows my lifting and running goals and builds my routines around that. I do a combination of high and low…

I usually don't have spectators. I know that watching running isn't really fun for my family. I'll jog by in a couple seconds and they spend the rest of the time waiting (usually in the cold) otherwise. Instead I set up phone app (mapmyrun/runtastic/runkeeper) for live tracking and family and friends can cheer virtually…

Yes, it is hard to find the time but it's there if you look for it! I have 2 hockey playing boys, a full time job, part time teaching job, and working toward my Ph.D. I find time to do my shorter runs in the evening and working in this long run business on the weekends. So far Saturday before sunrise has been the best time…

Oh my goodness, don't worry!!! :) You are so ready. You're going to do awesome. Last year was my first year of running. I ran my first 10k on a Saturday - the next Thursday I registered for my first half marathon, race day that following Sunday... on a whim. I finished and didn't die. You've had waaaaay more training and…

Thanks I will check those out! Just road running right now. I think I would be too scared to do trail running in the dark! :)

Thanks for the encouragement! Yes I have some before and afters and am happy to see progress there. Just tired of seeing my trainer frown every time we do the darn hand held thing. :) I maybe just need to ignore it as best I can.

I actually had a similar question a few weeks ago. Advice I got here, from my trainer, and fitness minded friends was this: 1.) Don't pay too much attention to the BF% since most methods are not very accurate. Better to pay attention to measurements, clothing size, progress pics. 2.) Eat more. They said that the BF% wasn't…

I would say you're ready for the half marathon - 13.1, but if you wanted that extra 10th of a mile go for that too. :) When I registered for my first HM (3 days before the race) my longest distance was the 10k. Doable - have fun!
