Still working to prefect the bean burger. Things are getting better. I'm getting over my fear of the spice rack and giving things a try. Lots of seasoning really helps. My latest recipe is shown below. I went a bit overboard with the carrots and corn. I need to cut them both in half but used the entire can/bag rather than…

Bean Burgers. I'm not vegiterian. I just like them. Restaurant, freezer section, or homemade. I've probably had 40 over the past month and have another pot of beans cooking now for another batch.

I like tomatoes, califlower, garlic, and onion with a bit of alive oil broiled on a sheet pan. Once browned, toss it all in the blender with some fresh cracked black pepper and a little Parmesan cheese and blend until smooth. Makes for a tasty soup.

Big thanks for all the advise. I made another batch today using canned kidney beans that turned out pretty darn good. Rough ingredients lost follows: One can of dark red kidney beans One habanero pepper Three ounces of carrots Three ounces of white onion 1.5 tablespoons of worcestershire sauce 1/2 cup of panko 3…

I read the success stories section of the boards and "feed" off other successes. Changing things up also seems to help. Do a different exercise or try a new healthy recipe. Thinking back to how miserable I was before starting out also helps. I don't want to go back there.

I like punk. My go to albums for workouts are Social Distortion's "Live at the Roxy" and "Love, Sex, & Rock and Roll". "Roxy" Is a great up tempo album with songs like, "The Creeps, Don't Drag me Down. Cold Feelings, No Pain/No Gain, Telling Them". Play hem loud a blast out a workout. "Love, Sex, & Rock and Roll" works on…

I share some of those feelings now. Right now I'm on the way back down a have crossed over some of the weights I remember crossing as I was gaining. Though I still have a long way to go, I now weigh a bit less than I did as a sophomore in high school 22 years ago. Back then I was extremely depressed, avoided people and…

I just went to the doctor this week for shoulder pain and weakness in my pushing exercises. I was told that in my case it was a combo of bursitis and a slight impingement. The doc recommended two weeks rest from my normal lifts (bench, incline, and military presses), some specific exercises targeting the rotator cuff, and…

Thanks for the additional responses and recipes. I picked up four four bags of dried beans and a variety of spices and veggies to add to the mix this time around. I'll report back Sunday or Monday with the recipe and results. Thanks again.

Thanks everyone for all the advise. I'll make another batch this weekend and incorporate some of the suggestions that were posted. I'll probably start by replacing the TVP with quinoa (cooked with beef bullion). That should change the texture while adding salt and beef flavor. Maybe add some type of crunch from seeds and…

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually used it dry like bread crumbs to absorb the liquid from everything else.

Prior to starting this journey toward fitness I rarely left the house and wasn't optimistic about anything. I took a week of vacation from work last week. Over that week I went to a comedy show and three concerts. Getting out and enjoying lift is my NSV. A year ago I wore 6xl shirts. I'm down to a 3x now. I bought some…

Eat what you like in moderation. As for me, the darker the better. Bonus points for sea salt or hot pepper added to the mix.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. It's been a great year and I'm confident that next year and the years that follow will be even better. After far to long under a dark cloud, it's amazing to wake up and be optimistic that good things are going to happen. I really wish there was a way to share that feeling with everyone.

Those are some great NSVs. I had a couple today myself. I took my longest ride yet on my bike, 16 miles. I then hit the gym for an hour and did my shoulder/back lifts. These workouts combined for my highest calorie burn yet, 3990 calories burned in 196 minutes (time and stats are per my HRM). Today is also my MFP…
