Minka = the endo I had helped me immensely when he put me on met & avandia for some years. My tsh adjusted and my blood sugar got normal (used to go from a high to 100 down to 40 easily). the blood sugar swings gave me bad nightmares. All those are gone. I think most PCOS gals will end up better off seeing an endo. Irishc…

Nuts are wonderful. I eat nuts everyday...peanuts, cashews, walnuts, and almonds. I should add Brazil nuts yummy. I tend to buy unsalted ones that usually are raw, not roasted. Since I tend to be hypoglycemic, I use them to ward off hunger and to not allow a dip in my blood sugar, making me feel more alert. I find I don't…

try to aim to eat 1 lbs. of both raw & cooked veggies. And 4 fruits a day. Add some nuts and legumes. And cut down the bread calories to less than 10% a day.

I've done: electrolysis (4 years) laser hair removal (2 intervals) and finally had to take a break...my hair on my face still keeps growing in but it is more manageable. It get stubble however I pluck and shave. I pluck at night and the morning if possible. I then shave in the shower. I also sometimes use that hair removal…

High estrogen is linked to cancer from what I have read. I have had high estrogen too, plus high testosterone myself. I'll wait for other ladies to comment but wanted to say you are not alone. I still have never gotten cancer but sadly lost a cousin to cancer when she was 18. And I am 44 now.…

Sweetie, I have PCOS too and it SUCKS. I can't begin to describe it, it just blows. I used to go to www.soulcysters.com for years and years since it used to be less known. I have been on diabetic drugs and I still am borderline, but was taken off them after my hormones were more balance, my endo was watching my blood tests…

I use it occasionally. Not very often. I like to melt coconut oil (the paste) in a pan, mix it with cocoa powder & agave syrup. Then put that in cupcake holders (I use the paper cups ones). That goes into the freezer. Then I put peanut butter (mixed with a tiny bit of powdered sugar) or any other nut butter on top. Then…

I am going to start off telling you some practical things: -start piling up money in a SECRET bank account (any amount you can) -start giving things away to goodwill, friends that you don't need -start making SECRET PLANS to take the kids -make a date and while he is at work, MOVE EVERYTHING. Leave the kidlets with someone…

I had mine longer (in the profile) and highlighted. I cut it all off and it is darker and shoulder length, much easier now. The longer hair kept getting in the way and my boyfriend does not care what I do with it, as long as I don't shave it all over (which to tease him, I pretended I was going to do).

Mark, you and Anita really inspired me (I love her list from her doctor!) I find I need to make sure I eat every 4 hours (usually keep going with a piece of fruit and an oz of nuts) since my insulin resistance makes me hypoglycemic. I find a lot of exercise hurts right now, so I take it easy. Intend to keep going with this…

In Silicon Valley, most restaurants post the calories of each item. I am finding most of the food is 1000 calories (for one dish). I find it hard to stay under that for one meal so I just order a salad and a bowl of soup. STILL went over 1000 with that at the Elephant Bar! I think they used heavy cream and olive oil in…

There are vegan cheeses. They aren't the same but the trick is to put them with things (veggie American slice on top of a veggie burger). Cheese is normally full of fat and salt. If you study how much animal farms hurt the environment, you'll feel good about eating less or no meat. Dairy farms are not pleasant to research.…

BOM = bell peppers/onions/mushrooms. These veggies are extremely healthy and delicious in stir fry. Then put around them maybe broccoli or eggplant or peas, string beans...and then add 1 fake meat package/tofu (if you are me). Put in stir fry pan, maybe invest in something that cooks next to the stove, makes it easier).…

Added you Mark as you are another positive inspiration for me from MFP. I rebooted my diet plan beginning of August (so I can do a 6 week strict-ness thing) since eating 100% vegan did not make me lose weight. I read the book cover to cover and started memorizing things so I could do the hypoglyemic version of the plan -…

Tonight's meal...tofu, string beans, bell peppers & mushrooms. with curry, basil, rosemary, Mrs. Dash spicy, powdered onion spices and bacon bits, (the fake bacon for salads), stir-fry with a little bit of olive oil.

I am 44 and I in August, started a new eating plan, the hypoglycemic version of Dr. Fuhrman's plan from his latest book. This means a ton of veggies. I am very into the internet (like reddit, reading stuff), a little too much. I love music and grew up playing the piano. I put on pandora a lot and am into discovering new…

a hoodie with a classic design (the writing like jack daniels ads) would be awesome. Do want. :)

I lived in England for 3 months, so I am not permitted by the Red Cross to give blood. I used to almost pass out, each time, but they would load me up with sweets and even walk me around.

does somebody have a great tofu scramble receipe? Do you use miso, yeast, cumin or anything like that?

I am on 2 hbp meds and I need more potassium, my doctor told me. This explains a lot! My mom brought up coconut water to me. I might look into that. Kales chips are good too.

Here is something that was recently passed along to me that I will pass along to you http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/02/15/how-1-minute-intervals-can-improve-our-health/

Well done, you!

Does anybody think about cheese and milk...how much fat is hidden in them? Whole milk is 49% fat. Cheddar cheese is 74% fat. Casein makes up 80% of milk. It is a protein that is a powerful histamine that creates a lot of mucus. I myself find my sinuses cleared up a lot when I gave it up. Plus I am lactose intolerant.…

The only thing we can't get from a plant-based diet enough of is B12. That is because B12 is made from bacteria naturally in animals. It's easy to take as a vitamin and there is also vegan fortified food with it. When I look at my MFP each day, I have lots and lots of protein, iron and everything else...but potassium. I am…

Our meat is covered in **** (animal excrement). The animals are packed together in cramped quarters. That itself did not stop me from eating meat. I tried eating vegan only going off that when I went on vacation and one day when I had an in and out burger since April. I now don't like the texture of meat most days, dairy…

Flying Southest and buying 2 seats. I had heard about the Kevin Smith incident (please google his name + Southwest) and thought "what if that happened to me". I could fit inside the seat but I was sooo scared I was too big at this weight, I just flipped out and bought 2 seats, as I really need to see my ailing father. I…
