  • Thanks everyone, this is very helpful!! :flowerforyou:
  • It matters to me! When I hear other people give their measurements, I want to know what the standard is so that I can see how comparable my measurements are. Its good to know if you are doing things accurately, IMO.
  • Hi! Welcome Andrea! This site is a lot of things: Community, Support, Fun, Informative, and Successful! At least it has been for me. Best wishes and great job taking the first steps! :flowerforyou:

  • Fantastic! Gave me some great chuckles. And no woman is worth risking death from a lifestyle change, so I say stick to your salt-water haven and wait for the fish-woman of your dreams to join you :drinker:
  • I've never washed mine in the machine, just hand wash w/ some soap. I wash after my workout so I dont put it back on till the next day so I haven't noticed if there is a delay. I would worry about putting it in the machine just because I wouldn't want those sensor thingys to hit the sides of the machine and effect their…
  • That info isn't in your HRM? I still think the HRM is more accurate bc you have a strap around your chest keeping track of your beating heart (at least on the F7).
  • I LOVE ZUMBA. My friends think I'm crazy for spending extra $$ to go to the classes, but its so much fun I can't stop myself. There are so many different people that do Zumba. You dont have to be good at dancing, you dont have to feel pressured to keep up, you can modify things to your comfort level, and no one is going to…

  • I always go by my heart rate monitor. I was working out last night on an elliptical, and it said I had burned 450 calories in 30 minutes, and my Polar F7 said 300. Big difference! The heart rate monitor is more accurate bc it knows information about you personally (if you set it up w/ your weight, age, etc) and it is…
  • Sometimes it takes a step ladder to get back on  . I actually just went through this. Start by making healthy choices at the dining hall. They probably have a salad bar and fresh fruit, chicken breasts, etc. If you start making the healthy choices in your diet, then maybe something will click for you as far as…
  • Not odd at all. I have the same thoughts. "Man I must have really looked bad before!" It does feel demotivating, and I think that adds to my struggle as well. Thx for bringing it up!
  • LOL....what on earth did he mean by that. Too funny. Work people can be so funny sometimes! My bosses boss saw me yesterday, and she said if she could whistle at me, she would. Then proceeded to cat-call me by blowing air. It does feel nice to get some feedback, but I just dont want it to go to my head. Like you all have…
  • Well said, this is what I need to hear. Its good to know that I am not alone, and I like your mindset. Thank you!!!
  • We can muscle through this together :flowerforyou: Weekends are a great opportunity get get back on track!
  • Yeah, I agree.... I need to figure out how to train my brain into filtering the comments into motivation. I wonder if its kind of like the Advertising psychology. If you hear/see something 7 times or more, you are most likely to believe/buy it. So when I hear "you look good" or "why are you losing more weight" I start to…
  • Think of your metabolism as a fire, and your food is the logs you put on the fire to get it to burn. If you wait until mid day to start up that fire, you are losing out on energy and burned calories, your body wont be as awake as if you had fed it. you should keep that fire going strong all day long! That being said,…
  • You look amazing! I had to go back and forth on the two and compare that shirt...its amazing the difference in fit!!! they were hardly able to button on the before, and after...well, you need a smaller shirt  You should feel so proud!
  • There is a really great book out there called "the easy way to stop smoking" by Allen Carr. It addresses the psychological addiction vs. the actual addiction, and helps you to overcome them mentally, and prepare you to quit. It worked wonders for me, and some of my friends. None of us gained weight bc he talks about that…
  • I just wanted to say i enjoy the Safeway Eating Right entree's. I used to eat the Lean Cuisines. Eating Right has lower sodium (around 400), taste better, and are bigger and more filling, and have less preservatives. they are also 5 x $10. So they are good for the budget conscious. I would recommend, love them!
  • Asparagus yes! Fresh and green, i like you steamed. What is that strange smell?
  • What I have to remind myself, is that the calories that MFP allots is already creating a deficit in my calorie intake. 1400 base calories, vs. 2000 for my normal maintenance (creating a 600 calorie per day deficit) . When I work out on top of that, I burn essential calories that my body actually needs in order to maintain…
  • Welcome Sarah! I am sure you will find lots of success and support here. I'm sorry to hear about your accident, but it sounds like you have a great attitude and determination for this! You go girl! I wish you a lot of relief from pain, and happy success! :flowerforyou:

  • I think a Sigg bottle is 32 oz, and I try to drink 2 of those per day. The taste is great from the Sigg bottles. I also make myself drink a glass of water first thing in the am while I am brewing my coffee. Every little bit helps!
  • How about getting up an hour early to exercise before everyone is awake? Or maybe take them all to a rec center with you? I know at my rec center, they have a daycare. They also have fun sports you can put them into, like swimming, basketball, or gymnastics, and I see a lot of the parents getting their workouts in while…
  • Thanks so much Tam!! You continue to amaze.... :flowerforyou:
  • I would say go for it right away. you body is starving and you need to get it out of starvation mode ASAP! Give it the food it needs, and the lbs will start coming off....
  • I dont know how bad your knee is, but when i was recovering from knee surgery the first exercise i was able to do was the bike. nice and easy, not too much. Again, i think it probably depends on your knee, and you could ask your doctor what would be right for you!

  • Oh yeahhhhhh....thats what I'm talking about! :drinker:
  • I've heard it doesn't matter what time, but that calories are calories. I try to eat around 7ish (sometimes its later) and then have a later snack of popcorn (100 cal bag) and I always end my day with hot herbal tea w/ splenda. gives me a little sweet before bed, and its great for digestion.
