Whatt? I find skinny/fit guys walking around to be an inspiration, and skinny/fit girls walking around to be one of the free benefits of going to the gym, something nice to look at. At some point you need to man up and take responsibility and stop making dumb excuses like "that skinny guy is looking at me weird"

When I started going I didn't know how to feel.. Was kind of embarassed because I didn't know what I was doing or how the machines worked. It's been a few weeks and I have no problem walking in and getting going now. You'll probably have a similar experience, the more you do it, the more comfortable you are with it.

Sugar "standard" here is not set by MFP. It's AHA's recommendation. Moderation is key, don't blow off sugar limits! "The recommended sugar intake for adult women is 5 teaspoons (20 grams) of sugar per day, for adult men, it’s 9 teaspoons (36 grams) daily, and for children, it's 3 teaspoons (12 grams) a day." - AHA…

This is my third time responding to a "sodium" thread today... Popular topic today.. 1.) 1500 mg is the recommended daily limit of sodium by the American Heart Association. Try not going higher. 2.) Hypertension from fluid retention that can result in stroke, heart disease, and kidney problems. Normal blood pressure is…

The American Heart Association recommends less than 1,500 mg of sodium per day. High sodium consumption results in high blood pressure (from water retention) that can result in stroke, heart disease, and kidney problems. You can either listen to some people here saying sodium doesn't matter or read AHA studies on the…

Moderation is key. Watch your sugar consumption. Eating high sugar causes high blood sugar. High blood sugar causes insulin to be released, and glucose stores to be created (fat). Chronic high sugar consumption causes insulin resistance in cells... Insulin resistance causes diabetes. It doesn't matter if you get your sugar…

Less than 10% body fat and it will slow down, or so they say. However, metabolism slows down with lower body weight. It's not something we need to worry about though, since most of us are on here because of being overweight.

Blood pressure measures the strength of the heart contracting and can be used to diagnose several things.. Pump problem, fluid problem, or vessel problem. It doesn't give any indication of iron or vitamin deficiencies. Need blood work for that. I agree it sounds like dehydration, not something to do with calories. If you…

American Heart Association recommends less than 1,500 mg a day. High sodium causes high blood pressure (due to fluid retention) which increases chances for strokes, heart disease, and kidney problems. There are lower sodium meats available that can lower your intake.. Usually the processed stuff has more sodium.

I have a bag of cherries that call my name every time I open the refrigerator.

Blaming your metabolism is an excuse people use to justify weight gain is out of their control. Very few people actually have a bad metabolism, and it's due to a condition called hypothyroidism. These people take medications like synthyroid, a synthetic hormone, to even it out.. So they can't really blame their metabolism…

Sent a request. You don't live far from me either!
-
Sending you a request. It is hard to stick to diets, unfortunately. I've found entering foods on here and keeping up with the friends I've made here keeps me going. I feel more accountable for what I eat throughout the day, and it's a good thing. Good luck

< Paramedic. Much cooler ;D

This is not an opinion topic. Humans were not made to eat meat and it causes a variety of health issues such as obesity, high cholesterol, diabetes, and strokes, heart attacks, and pulmonary embolisms go along with those conditions. Those are the leading causes of death and debilitating diseases. I'm not going to explain…

Gustav, welcome and thank you for your service! It's never too late to lose weight, and it could definitely help your diabetes and eating mono fats instead of saturated can help your atherosclorosis.. I do want to watch your progress, so I'm sending a friend request! Be careful with exertion with exercise obviously, pace…
