This is all fine and dandy, but with this attitude you probably should not be on a web site to lose weight where you keep a food journal that is built to be shared and get feed back on. Yes there is also the option to keep it all to yourself and do it on your own, but in that case dont try to come participate in discussion…

Then it sounds like you need to read more.

There is something to this, but not what this person probably intended. I find that attempting to make a healthy alternative sometimes ruins my appetite for that particular craving. Just last night I was craving one of those Dannon Frusion Smoothies. So I tried making my own smoothie. What followed was a nasty sub par copy…

This thread is awesome. Lets recap for the late commers: It starts out with good intent and a simple observation made on a cruise ship about some obese people saying that they were putting their diet on hold. The misunderstanding comes in because these were not serious dieters or people looking for a change. By their…

ninerbuff, Have you ever left a chair out on the Kitchen table, and the dog got up there and grabbed like 3 or 4 hamburger patties just as you turn around? You corner the dog and its trying to scarf the food down as fast as it can before you can take it away. While its horking down those patties its simultaniously trying…

As a matter of fact.... it is crazy. When you consider that IF that man dropped 100 pounds he should have a new respect for diet and know exactly how much of a lifestyle change he had to make to get there. He would not toss a chunk of his progress to celebrate. And IF HE DID, then he learned NOTHING over that last 100…

This is all well and good..... but don't come out here for support or encuoragement with a "Its my business" attitude. You want it to be your business? Then good luck in your endevor.

First off, by looking at your picture, you dont have a severe weight problem. You look to be pretty good as you are. That being said I can understand wanting to lose a couple pounds. However, this is where you will struggle. Because you dont have a lot to lose, its hard to find the will power to make the necessary changes.…

LOL.. This is classic funny stuff!!

Someone needs to give you advice on a make over.
-
yes Man this is all about timing. LOL
-
a combination of all of that.... but at the end of the day.... Bad stuff tastes sooo good.

Yep, and thats cool. BUT if these people come out posting and crying about not losing weight, that sets me off. Ha ha. Like you said, they only harm themselves. Its not like IF they dont log it, It never happened. This is one score card that does not let you cheat at the end of the day.

save face? How am I trying to save face. She said she did not want a 1500 calorie body, and I clearly told her she did not have one. Then I made it even more clear and placed her more at an 1800 calorie kind of gal. How is that attemting to save face?
-
Thanks but I am doing great on my own following the base MFP concept.
-
Yes I have seen you posting this same PM all over the site like you are some sort of hero / nutritionist. You are so proud of it. Good for you. Give yourself a pat on the back. Congrats.
-
You tell her man. She has lost 28 lbs and you have lost 3............ If you have been out here as long as you say you have, and have helped as many people as you say you have, then you should know that different things work for different people. But before you explore the MANY approaches, you sould try to set a base line…

Dont worry, judging by your pictures, you dont have one. You can probably do like 1800 and maintain. Some people are different.

No need to be a smart *kitten*. :-) I'm sure its working for you, but as you said. "slowly but surely". IF DONE RIGHT, there are faster ways to safely lose weight. Not everyone has the patience to lose a pound a month. Once again, Im not talking "crash diet" Im talking more "reasonable results in less time" at the price of…

Yep. This^^^ Its the only 100% consistent way. Just you and the scale.
-
Lots of encouragement here and thats great! I will be the honest jerk here and try to help rather then pat you on the back.... First, I commend you on your honesty in the food journal. HOWEVER, that honesty points out a terrible diet and a constant pattern of over eating. Its a miracle you are not gaining. If Anyone is…

Amen. Someone gets it.
-
Psh,,, yeah "EAT More" thats the solution!!! Please Dont listen to crap like this.
-
This is garbage advice. Do not listen to this starvation mode BS. You will see it all over this site. As long as you are getting at least 1200 calories a day do not listen to this stuff. You will only end up overeating and gaining weight.
-
You are missing the calorie mark dang near every day. Basically from what I am seeing you are eating to maintain your weight and not lose any. Im not sure why you are puzzled and going to give up after 3 weeks. To be blunt, the choice is simple. Either get serious about wanting to lose weight or go on doing what you are…

Hmm.... I wonder if you should have just let it go and not stopped it for breaks. Because, calorie burn is based on heart rate, if your heart was worked up to say....140 BPM and you stop hiking, its not like it drops instantly to normal resting rate. You continue to burn some calories while you are "resting". While I would…
-
Did you take any breaks? any rests? Formulas are ok but they dont take into account EVERYTHING that went on durring the work out. The HRM was there, It monitored and did what it is supposed to do. I'd trust the HRM number any day of the week over some formula that has no idea how hard your body worked or how long. This is…

[ Thats a very diplomatic answer and definately a "suck up to the ladies answer" but thats not what is being asked. Given the same "attitude"...... its what do men prefer.? and if you say it does not matter, you are a liar.

In general, this is pretty dead on.
