You probably won't see any gain. I deviate up or down on maintenance a lot. I just balance out the 300 calories over day and 150 under the next 2 days. It should balance out with your base energy use. The body burns calories differently on a daily basis anyways, because your activities change daily.

Congrats on quitting!!!!!!!! Being overweight is way more healthy than smoking! I'm a "clean air breather" also. Cutting down on calories is easier than quitting, just track calories and work on burning more than you take in. Good luck!

Several so called Dr shows on the matter say you can eat your calories anytime of the day, so I guess you could eat them all at supper if that's what you want. I think it also averages out over several days with my metabolism. I can completely blow my calories one weekend and stay on track pretty good with loosing weight…

Part of it is conditioning yourself to only eat at regular meal times, if you snack all the time you are conditioning yourself to be always ready for food. Very low calorie vegetables are great to add to meals to get you fuller when you eat. I also try to stay so busy that I stop thinking about it between meals.

Now I have a question. Why are wanting to know the cooked weight, because the added weight is due to the water? Just weigh the whole dry portion to count the total calories in the batch and figure the rough percentage of the batch that you eat by volume measurment (all the pasta will swell uniform).

I think that it could be pretty close. It would depend on how accurately you answered the questions about your daily activity, and if you are accurately logging your deviation via the exercise logging. However, I think the calculator is just a close ballpark figure, and cannot account for your personal metabolism.
