  • Another option is homemade coconut yogurt. I've only tried it once during a fat fast, but you can make it with just a few ingredients. I thought it was pretty tasty, though you might have to add some thickeners if you're picky about the consistency. With the brand I used, it came out to 3 carbs per 1/2 cup. Recipes and…
  • I posted in this thread several months ago, but many of my older friends have since gone inactive. :( Looking for some new, active friends! Name: Nic Reddit Username: Nixenne Female, 26 Where ya from?: Colorado
  • I've been on a ketogenic diet since last summer, and for me personally, it has worked wonderfully. :) And yes, I do find it sustainable long-term. I've tried going back to a "normal" diet on a few occasions, and it only made me moody, ravenously hungry, miserable and bloated. At this point, I can't imagine ever going back…
  • I wish I could say that it was the day my mother had to be airlifted to Denver because of a stroke. Or the day I learned my cousin had type 2 diabetes...making him the fourth generation on my mother's side to end up with it. But no. It was something far more vain. Back in June, we were planning a trip to an amusement park…
  • Ah. So THAT's why my marriage failed. In all seriousness, that was probably the biggest thing my ex-husband and I argued about. He had this image in his head of a perfect little housewife who kept a spotless house and cooked amazing dinners. That's not me, nor will it EVER be. I was working 12- and even 24-hour shifts at…
  • I'm usually happy with half a Quest bar or a chocolate protein shake made with almond milk and a bit of heavy cream, but sometimes... Chocolate mug cake! http://www.pbs.org/food/fresh-tastes/microwave-chocolate-cake/ Doesn't get much quicker than that, and it's actually pretty tasty. I substitute erythritol and a bit of…
  • I eat a lot of burgers, almonds, cheese, avocado, eggs, full-fat dressings, olive oil, butter and--of course--bacon, and I use heavy cream in my coffee. Sometimes I'm a bit over on protein, but usually I end up fairly close to my macros without adding anything extra just for fat/calories. It gets easier as you go on, in my…
  • EZ-Sweetz is great, and one small bottle lasts months for me. I use a combination of EZ-Sweetz and erythritol for baking...and occasionally for low-carb mojitos. ;) For coffee, like others have mentioned, Torani/Da Vinci sugar-free syrups are awesome. Both brands have a ridiculous number of flavors to choose from.
  • It's not a food...but I've always taken liquid Nyquil when I have a cold. I took a dose without thinking anything of it the last time I was sick, and THEN looked it up--93 calories and 19 carbs for one dose?? That's more carbs than I usually consume in a day. x_x
  • Hell, I'm still technically MARRIED to my ex...and have been for the 2+ years I've been with my boyfriend. It's never bothered him, but maybe he's just more secure than the average man? After the divorce has gone through, I imagine I'll still be keeping the ex's name. Too many certifications and crap that I'd have…
  • Whether or not they're married, abuse is abuse and should NOT be tolerated under any circumstances--and being married shouldn't ever be a factor in whether someone leaves or not.
  • This, in every way. I took four years of my ex's controlling, belittling, insecure, manipulative, ABUSIVE behavior before I got the courage to finally get out for good. There's a huge difference between just being unsupportive and being abusive. You and your children deserve better...whether that means spending some time…
  • She was trolling. The thread has since been deleted. ;) But on topic...I only EVER look "nice and put together" when I'm going out for dinner or have an important meeting/interview/appointment, which isn't often. The rest of the time, I really don't care. My boyfriend finds me attractive regardless, so I'd rather expend…
  • The 20 pounds I've lost since June have been with VERY minimal exercise, just changes in diet. For me, a low-carb diet has worked very well, but I know it's not for everyone. But yes, it can definitely be done. And the more I lose, the easier it is to exercise when I want to--and the hip/back pain I lived with for YEARS is…
  • When I hear "Amazon" I think tall, confident, self-sufficient, sure-as-hell-ain't-dainty-but-still-SEXY-AS-HELL, strong but still feminine. But maybe I'm strange. ;)
  • 5'9" Pros - On a smaller/shorter frame, my boobs would look obnoxiously huge. They work for me. - Like others have said, I look like I weigh less than I do. - Definitely comes in handy with combative/uncooperative patients. - Putting on heels occasionally and towering over people feels empowering. ;) Cons - I've been the…
  • Currently unemployed thanks to living in a small, ridiculous community...but I'm still an EMT. ;)
  • Cucumbers, zucchini and summer squash, all fresh from my dad's garden...AMAAAAAZING. Especially zucchini charcoal-grilled alongside a ribeye, so wonderful. Hopefully he'll have some jalapenos and tomatoes next time I visit...it's been too long since I made salsa with ripe, freshly picked veggies.
  • You're obviously losing weight doing what you're doing. I don't think that eliminating/reducing sugar is going to help with belly fat, but there are certainly other advantages to it. To say "everything has sugar" isn't true at all--I eat less than 20g carbs per day, and it's really been the only thing that works for me. I…
  • I've had mine for almost five years now, and it's STILL going strong! Affordable, amazing little thing. <3
  • Right now, I'm a fan of Leslie Sansone's Walk at Home DVDs. She splits workouts into "miles," so it's perfect for a beginner...you can start with the warm-up, one mile and the cooldown, then add more miles as you feel comfortable. Leslie herself is upbeat and encouraging, and I love that she uses people of all sizes in her…
  • "The camera must be messed up...there's no WAY I'm that fat!" "The scale must be messed up...there's no WAY I'm that fat!" "It takes too much work to make supper...we'll just get fast food, that's cheaper anyway." On the second one, I actually had my boyfriend weigh himself to make sure the scale was working correctly. And…
  • Amazing and inspiring! Congratulations on all you've accomplished together, and thank you for sharing this. :)
  • Other than the things already mentioned (no cravings, no heartburn, more energy), one HUGE thing I've noticed is the lack of migraines. I had two days of "cheating" around my birthday, dropped out of ketosis and had two migraines in one week--something that's never happened before. While sticking to keto, though, I haven't…
  • I stay under 20 net carbs per day, generally between 10-15, and I keep my diary open to friends. Would love to have some more low carb friends, so feel free to add me. :)
  • This would be kind of a wonky way to do it, but if you really wanted to have all your "daily" food logged together...could you just set MFP to a different timezone? Or, if it's possible to plan what you're going to have for your last meal...just enter it in early? I don't work night shifts anymore but my body still prefers…
  • I usually refer to it as my flabby flap. :| Stupid c-section. Grade 1, apparently...I guess it's somewhat comforting to know that it could be worse. And this is probably TMI, but for me, that will be the most awesome NSV ever--not having to hold up the flabby flap to do maintenance "down there."
  • My name is Nic. Boyfriend and some friends call me Nix. I've use Nixen online in other places, but that was taken...so I added a few extra letters. ;)
  • I usually drink around 3-3.5 liters a day, though I'm thinking about trying to bump it up higher to see if it helps with the water retention I've been having lately. I hardly ever drink anything else, other than the occasional iced tea or coffee.
  • I'm 5'9" with a goal weight of 170; that was the weight I was at while in the Army, and I looked (and felt) fantastic. I seem to carry weight strangely though, I've always had big boobs and broad shoulders...most people don't believe me when I tell them how much I weigh, so maybe I'll be happy with a higher weight. Guess…
