  • Actually kind of aggravated that there isn't coverage (and I'm American). I have a good friend who's part of the women's basketball team (defending champs from Beijing), so I'll be following the results and watching the webcast when I can.
  • 1) Burn more calories than you put into your body. 2) Vary your workout routines. (This keeps away boredom *and* helps you get into shape.) 3) Don't fall for fads or gimmicks like "30 day shred" or "insanity" or whatever. Instead, work your *kitten* off. Be consistent in your diet and exercise regimen. THERE ARE NO…
  • my kid is actually one of the reasons i'm doing this. not the only one, but one of them. i was edging into heart attack/stroke territory at the ripe old age of 41. since then i've dropped 40 lbs and counting. my kid is 16 months old. i'd like to see him grow up if it's at all possible.
  • During a March doctor's visit, I weighed in at 275 lbs. My blood pressure was barely being brought down into the 130s/80s by medication, and my doctor thought I was a great candidate for pre-diabetes. Or a stroke. I was about to turn 41 years old. I began to change my eating habits and exercise. In some ways I have it…
  • i'm in the same boat ... love to swim, and would frankly rather be swimming laps than just about anything. it's definitely good cardio, and i think the poster above me said it's a great upper-body workout. he's right -- i'm already noticing new shape in my shoulders and chest. that said, i still hit the elliptical, the…
  • Personally, I think that's too young to have a phone. If and when our kid gets a phone, it's going to be one of those "you can call 911 or mom or dad and that's it" models. As he grows and matures, we'll see when/if he can handle more. That said, you're the parent, and the choice is yours to make. Definitely rude on the…
  • i think all of us who need to lose large amounts of weight can really feel your pain. i'm in the process of losing 115-120 lbs. I'm down 43 lbs. as of today, and it is still hard, every day. there are days i don't feel like i've even lost a little bit of weight. but those days are getting fewer and farther between. it'll…
  • With few exceptions, I've given up sweet tea (it's a Southern thing), coffee, sodas, beer, liquor, wine. It's pretty much exclusively water now. Almost everything else is up for grabs. In moderation, of course. I may make an exception on occasion, but it's a rare thing.
  • Thanks for all the encouragement, guys! :-)
