I was sleeved June 14th, 2012. :) I'm down 151 pounds, and I am feeling great. I would recommend this surgery to any one. :) Let me know if you ever need help!

I eat rice less sushi rolls, ones wrapped in cucumber, or I'll scoop out the filling. :)

I weighed every day for about a year and a month. I am about 20 pounds from goal, so my progress has slowed; therefore, I'm weighing in every 2-3 days. This is to keep me from killing myself bc I keep losing and gaining the same two pounds for the past 3 weeks. Lol. I weighed every day to see how my choices reflected on…

Start fresh tomorrow. Have you thought about eating a little more, more often? I eat about 1200 calories a day, but I still need to lose weight. This would take you to 1600 calories a day, but you could start off with smaller numbers and work yourself back up. Good luck! Breakfast- 400 cal Morning snack- 200 Lunch- 400 cal…

I know how you feel; however, you are on this journey to live a healthier life. This is what I had to do with my mother... 1. Tell her you cannot eat xyz. Even if she prepares/buys it, you have to have the strength to say no. 2. Prepare/buy lower calorie options. 3. Allow yourself one meal to splurge a week. Do your best…

Good luck to all of you! Feel free to add me if you need advice or encouragement! :)

My wake up call happened when I went in for a routine checkup, and the nurse said I was beginning to develop a fatty liver. I am not a drinker; it was all food. I decided that I would not be 296 pounds ever again. I look back at my old pictures as a reminder of how good I've done, and relish in my newfound confidence. I…

I have loose skin, but I'm going to start seeing a PT to help build muscle and tone.

I've lost 133, and I'm looking to lose at least 20 more. :) Be proud and keep focused!

Welcome! Add me for support if you need it! :) I am not perfect, but I do my best!!!

I have been told not to drink anything while eating. Instead, try drinking a bottle of water between meals. If you are eating 4 small meals a day, that's 6-8 servings of water.

I try to eat 1000-1200 calories a day with 60-80 grams of protein. Try eating healthy fats- nuts, avocado, etc.

Are you okay?

Orange Juice Coffee Fibrous foods Good luck!!!

3 months out it started coming out. I have unusually thick hair. (My pony tail would fit between my middle and thumb finger when I made a circle, and that would be tight.) I have lost about half of my hair. It took four months (till 7 months post-op) to stop falling out. I cut my hair about two months ago into a longer bob…

I try to eat a lot of protein and drink lots of water! Have you thought about packing protein bars, shakes, jerky, etc? Backpacking around Europe sounds amazing! Good luck!

I can't relate on the mood swings, but I would consult your doctor about the gain and the side effects you are experiencing. Maybe there is an alternative medication they can give you. If you are looking for birth control with hormones, try Mirena. If you are looking for the BC without, they do offer the Paraguard. Good…

Congratulations! You are going to do amazingly well!

My NUT told me that snacking (constantly) was a big no-no. Eating breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner should be good. (My nut said any more than that would be grazing, and that would eventually stretch my pouch back out. :) -Shoot for 70-80 grams of protein. -LOTS of water -I shoot for…

Miss Erynn, It sounds like you don't have a good support network. Your "friends" aren't really your friends, or they aren't educated on the new and improved you. Your surgery isn't ruining your life; it is improving it. Before my surgery, I told my closest friends and coworkers. I explained what the procedure would be like…

I wore some control top hose about a week ago and had no issues, but I'm a sleever, so that might be the difference. I'm glad you figured out the problem though.

I chose the sleeve because it removed the part of my stomach that makes me hungry and limits the amount of food into my stomach. I can't remember all of the details with the gastric, but I remember for me the sleeve was what was best. (In my opinion.) So far I've had no major issues or concerns, so I am definitely happy…

If it's a common styled dress, I would wait to buy it when you are about a month out. Even then, I would buy it one size smaller. Good luck!

I love to cook, but I am like you...I have very little time! Here are some tips for you. (It's all about planning!) 1. Buy a crock pot/slow cooker. Use this to cook several meals at a time. Portion the meals out into small containers, and then eat them for lunch or dinner the next day. If you like variety, freeze what you…

The mushy food phase made me mad. I stayed mostly with liquids and some mashed/pureed soups. It made me mad b/c the protein wasn't as plentiful. :) You will get through soon! Keep trucking along! :)

I have many NYRs but here are my top three! 1. Continue following my doc's orders and have success in losing weight. I would like to be at goal by next December. :) 2. Run an entire 5K without walking. 3. Finish grad school. Phew, that would be amazing.

LOL - Losing sweaters! I am also freezing, but I think that comes with the weight loss. Just keep bundling! Also, I've noticed that my bum starts hurting if I sit too long...just some of the quirks of weight loss!

I would say that I'm not more experienced, but have you mixed up your exercise routine? That might help. Also, have you considered changing what you eat and checking your protein intake? Checking into those things might help break you through your plateau.

While I agree that eating below can be dangerous, some people are being treated by doctors, so it's best not to pass judgment on others. Just focus on your goals, and don't worry about other people.
