  • Recognizing these things is a big win! Keep working hard, and the rest will follow. Hugs!
  • I try every day or every other day. It helps me stay accountable.
  • At my highest weight-296, At my lowest-130. The last is about 3 weeks before I gave birth to my son. I've got about 15-20 pounds to lose.
  • I would also go back to my doctor if I were you. If he/she doesn't help, I would go in for a consult with another doctor. I have a friend who was in a similar situation, and she found out that her doctor didn't take enough of her stomach out along with some other issues.
  • I had my surgery June of 2012. I lost 166 pounds at my peak. I just had a baby and am at a net loss of 131 right now. Feel free to add me for support, encouragement, or advice!
  • I am almost 7 weeks pp, and would like to lose 15 to get to my pre prego weight. Ultimately, I would like to lose a total of 20- 25. I am pumping and haven't lost any since delivery.
  • When I want sweets and I know that it's not a good day for them, I chew flavored gum. There are a TON of yummy flavors. Wrigley's has a line of dessert gum that is good---the flavor does not last a long time. Another thing that may help is indulging in a Greek yogurt in whatever flavor you love. It will fill you up and get…
  • After surgery, my doctor recommended gas blockers and Pepcid AC. I think I stayed on those for 3 months solid and then took them as needed. I agree with Klcovington...I didn't start consuming raw veggies until later on. Each surgeon is different, so I totally understand why we all try things at different stages. I want to…
  • I have had a whole range of comments. People who never knew I was morbidly obese tell me, "You're so skinny, eat more!" I have lots of people who try to push food on me. Like you, I am at the healthy weight range, and I *could* lose 10-15 more pounds, but this is a comfortable maintenance weight for me. The people who have…
  • Here are some of my favorite protein snacks: Premier Protein Chocolate Shakes Almonds, trail mix, etc. Cottage cheese, Greek Yogurt, cheese sticks/baby bel Beef jerky- I like the teriyaki! Tuna mix/chicken salad w/crackers
  • Welcome to the group! :)
  • Hey!!! I have been there before. I could probably write a hilariously long novel about my crazy snacking hi-jinks in the middle of the night. This is what I have done to help me... 1. I don't buy bad food. (It's really hard for me. For example, I thought I had self control and bought a box of Thin Mints. WRONG! I ate a…
  • #1: Follow your doctor's orders/recommendations/etc. Other than that, here are some things to expect right after surgery that I didn't consider. 1. The difficulty of sipping. You will need to have your protein shakes ready to consume and take small sips ALL DAY LONG. This is totally annoying but necessary for strength and…
  • I agree with the two comments above. Choose something higher in protein. (nuts, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, oatmeal, peanut butter, protein shakes, etc.)
  • I had my sleeve done by Dr. James Davidson in Dallas, Texas. He also does the bypass. :) I've had great success.
  • Every time I've stalled, I have reflected back to a few points...they don't always help, but it's more logical than me crying or feeding myself. Some of my thoughts... 1. My body is not used to burning fat. It's used to storing it. It's in shock. Give it some time. 2. I didn't put the weight on in a week; it's not all…
  • I love my Asics. I feel like they are a good running/multi purpose shoe. I used to wear New Balance as a teen, but IMO, they are not as comfortable on my arch. Usually after a few weeks/month, you will have broken in your shoes, so maybe they will feel better then. If not, some stores will custom fit shoes to your specific…
  • I've had some strange responses. Most of the responses from people I don't like/don't like me are the funniest. Last year after I had lost 80-100 pounds, one of my coworkers looked at me and said something to the effect of "If you lose any more weight, you'll be a floating head..." She was trying to be nice, but…
  • Not that I'm an expert, but here's what a normal day looks like to me lately: Breakfast: Coffee (two cups, creamer/milk, splenda) Oatmeal or grits made with milk Morning snack:(Pick one) Fruit, Chex mix, nuts, or pretzels Lunch: Soup or high protein frozen meal Afternoon Snack: (pick one) Fruit, applesauce, protein shake,…
  • I had Dr. Davidson too! I am almost 2 years out. I was sleeved on 6/14/12. :)
  • LOVE it! Congratulations!
  • For me, the first 3 days were HORRIBLE. I had terrible heartburn, gas, and I had pain from the incisions. I was taking a liquid hydrocodone, pepcid ac, and gas x. Once I figured out how to manage the pain, it was better. I was a stomach sleeper, but I started getting good sleep in a recliner we bought. It helped me for a…
  • It has taken me about 2.5 years to lose 164 pounds. I have had bariatric surgery and have stuck with my doc's orders. High protein, low carb diet
  • I had no major problems. Post surgery I had nausea, heartburn, and gas, which are all expected and completely normal. Your stitches will hurt, which is also expected. :) feel free to PM me if you have questions.
  • I agree with all of the above posts. I had to cut my hair to even it all out. Keep eating protein!!!
  • I had to take 6 months of classes, and I started implementing the rules slowly. I started with no sodas...I gave them up November 2012, and I haven't had a drop since. After that, I practiced the no drinking while eating, chewing 30x a bite, and sampling protein shakes. I took it as an opportunity to get my mind set on…
  • FANTASTIC!!! :)
  • I'm busy in the mornings, so cooking isn't my favorite thing to do...for me, it's either eat a hot breakfast, or look like the Crypt Keeper. ;) -I like these shakes from Premier Protein. http://www.premierprotein.com/product/chocolate-shake/ I get them from Sam's Club, and they're about $20 for a case of 18. The chocolate…
  • I agree with Vex with pre-portioning and possibly cooking things ahead of time. When I lived at home with my parents, my mother was a food pusher, and the portions were insane. It was seen as an insult not to finish one's plate. Anyhow, I've had to had long talks with my mother about what I need to eat, and it's better.…
  • Ranch Dressing 1 large container of plain fat free yogurt 1 envelope of hidden valley ranch dressing Mix well, serve cold Other mixes/exchanges. Since Greek yogurt is insanely popular, I've made this with the Greek stuff and it's good too. :) You can also use French Onion soup mix, Fiesta Dip Mix, and probably any other…
