I occasionally drink the Premier Protein shakes in chocolate. I get them from Sam's Club. (160 cals, 30 grams of protein, 1g sugar) I don't drink these for every meal, but I occasionally drink them for breakfast when I'm on the go. They're also great after a hard workout. :) I like these because they don't have a funky…

I would also recommend eating higher protein, lower carbs (breads, pastas, grains). Track everything religiously, and eat something every 3-4 hours to keep your hunger at bay and your metabolism up. Drink LOTS of water. If you hate water, Crystal Light is pretty awesome & fairly inexpensive. You are going to get a TON of…

My husband has been my biggest cheerleader and accountability buddy. Based on what we went through, I recommend you learning all of the "rules" that your husband has been charged with following. This will help you understand why he does things, what he can eat, and how you can help him. This way you understand what he…

Thank you for all of the replies. I think I'll look into the collagen supplements. Who knows, even if it helps an inch, it's an inch! :)

Thank you for all of the replies. :) As of right now, my husband and I are looking to start a family, so I definitely want to wait until after we have at least two children. (I'm not so secretly hoping for twins, so I can be pregnant only once. Ha!) With that being said, plastics will probably not be in my future for at…

I like a lot of the options listed above, especially the ones that are crockpot... However, I totally understand what you mean about getting tired of the frozen meals. Here are some ideas that I've used. -Premier Protein Chocolate Shakes (30 grams of protein, 1 gram sugar, 160 calories) -Salads (there are frozen chicken…

This blog has a ton of recipes. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ You might also look up Atkins recipes or anything catered to high protein/low carb. :) Good luck! When in doubt, consult your binder and talk to your doctor. He/she probably has a nutritionist that your mom can consult, so do not hesitate!!!

I agree with drinking wine instead. If wine isn't your thing, you might try vodka mixed with light cranberry/sprite. Food: I recommend a few things. 1. I would eat a small meal before the big dinner/lunch. Have something light and reasonable. Be okay with still feeling "hungry" after that meal/snack. 2. When you're there,…

Even though WW does not count them as points, they do have calories. I recommend counting the foods on here and recording them into your WW log. It's good to hold yourself accountable for every bite. :)

During the summer/spring, I enjoy the Hibiscus refresher. It's low in calorie and delicious.Otherwise, I enjoy the Skinny Vanilla Latte, Non-Fat Pumpkin Spice Latte, and Skinny Peppermint Mocha. When I am being "bad," I get an eggnog latte... Re-gifting is another idea, but I like a pick me up every once in a while. Good…

If there is a store called Teavana near you, I suggest you give it a try. It is quite pricey, but there are so many blends and varietals, you will find something you enjoy. (They sell it by the cup, and they also have at least 4-6 samples in the store.) If you aren't willing to put too much money into it, I recommend…

I know how much (volume wise) I can eat, so every 1/4 of the portion, I take a break. I still chew until I get an applesauce consistency. :) When I was first getting used to the changes, I would get hiccups, and my nose would run.

Just do your best. I had to be on a 6 month diet, but it was strictly due to insurance. I didn't lose much until the month before my surgery... ;) Feel free to add me as a friend if you need any help or advice!

I agree with the above posts. There are support groups in the area. :)

Hi! I am no expert, but here is what I understand to be correct...1. Many doctors require patients to lose a certain amount of weight before surgery. 2. The insurance company requires you to be on a monitored diet, and each doctor is different. (Both pre & post diets vary for each doctor.) My doctor wanted me to lose 10…

When I would hit slower periods, my friends told me to measure, so I'm telling you to measure! :) My honey kept telling me that the weight did not get on me in a short period, so it wasn't going to come off in a short period either. I know that doesn't make you feel any better, but for me, it put things into perspective.…

1. Give yourself plenty of time to eat, and have a shake ready just in case something does not work for you. 2. When I started eating solid meats, I went with moist meats, and I chewed them thoroughly. 3. I stayed away from starches, high sugars, and veggies. (Gas is not fun).

Go for high protein, low carbs. :) When I do breakfast out, I usually do 1-2 over easy eggs, 2 slices of bacon, and coffee. If I'm feeling splurgy, I'll have a small side of grits, oatmeal, or fruit.

I tell people I can't eat foods like that, and a majority of my friends and coworkers understand my journey and relationship with food. I can always find something to eat. If I know it's going to be a really bad restaurant, I'll eat a snack before and have a light lunch/dinner. If I'm not hungry at all, I'll have a glass…

I gave up soda and ALL things carbonated 2 years ago Thanksgiving Day. I had to go cold turkey. :) My advice on how to do this is to have other flavorful drinks like tea, Crystal Light, or coffee hanging around. It's not easy, but once you've eliminated it from your grocery list, it gets easier. Most restaurants have tea…

I pretty much stuck to the protein shakes. I really enjoy the Premier Protein (chocolate) shakes from Sam's. They are premade and taste good. After my liquid phase, I still drank shakes to get enough protein in...it stinks, but you need to do it. I agree with the previous response. Blend up soups with protein powder/just…

I lived on Premier Protein chocolate shakes. They are premade, and you can find them at Sam's Club. 30 grams of protein for 11 oz. I would also add a scoop of protein powder, and that would raise the protein to about 50-60 depending on the scoop size. Sip, sip, sip! :)

You can't please everyone! Please yourself and move forward!

Thank you for the ideas! I think that weightlifting/strength training is right up my alley. :) I don't know about a bikini contest. Maybe after I tone up! ;)

I am almost a year and a half out. I was sleeved June 14th, 2012. I go through periods where I gain the same few pounds, but I adjust my calorie intake up or my protein levels up to shock my body back into shape. :) Keep strong!
-
Eat/drink your recommended amount of protein. You'll lose some hair due to the anesthesia and shock from the lack of calories. My hair loss started 4 months out, and it lasted for a total of 5 months. I was devastated, but I kept on following my dr.'s instructions, and it is fine now. Ask your doctor when you can take…
