  • Thank you, everyone. It's just a tough day. It's easy to get down on yourself when you feel like you've climbed this same mountain over and over, but 10 feet from the top you quit and went back down. Normally I feel proud of little accomplishments. I just am so worn down by working toward a goal that doesn't seem to have…
  • I use a Bodybugg and find it's very accurate.
  • I don't understand why so many of you post about this topic, and then STAY with these douches. If he's a **** to you and completely unsupportive, why on earth are you continuing to date him?! LEAVE! It is never, ever, ever going to get better.
  • No one likes to be told that they're fat. I'll give you that much. However, the defensiveness and outright hostility in this thread boggle the mind. How can any of you, in good conscience, just expect your partner to be okay with you gaining weight and becoming overweight/obese/fatter in general? What makes you think that…
  • This is patently false. It has been shown in numerous studies that when formerly overweight people become slim, their metabolism actually decreases, and slows to about 80% of the metabolism of someone who is the same weight but who has never been overweight. Your body becomes more efficient if you increase your muscle mass…
  • It's 425 calories per bag (2.5 servings of unpopped kernels per bag, at 170 cal/serving).
  • I work at a place that offers unlimited candy, beer, and soda. On Wednesdays, they buy us pizza. On Fridays, they buy us breakfast tacos. Once a month, we celebrate birthdays with some delicious dessert and there is always some sort of goody that someone has brought in to share in one of the common kitchens. It's also a…
  • I have two chocolate labs, Peanut and Sugar. Peanut is getting to be an old man (he's 9.5), and Sugar is 6. She's very lean and lithe and LOVES to run, while he sort of plods along and gives up after a mile or so. They're a pain in the butt to take running sometimes, since they want to chase every squirrel or cat they see,…
  • I'm going the full monty and signing up for an Olympic on 9/3 (first Tri ever). I'm happy to exchange tips with you ladies (I'm in desperate need)!
  • I keep my fridge at work stocked like my home fridge (maybe better!). I have cucumbers, bell peppers, raw broccoli, baby carrots, dip (made of a hidden valley ranch packet and fat-free sour cream), seedless red grapes, cherries, strawberries, blueberries, Colby's Cinnamon Sugar Kettle Corn (to DIE FOR), and every now and…
  • We have a chain of stores here in Texas (and the West Coast, I think) called Sprouts. They call themselves a Farmer's Market, but they're really just a specialty grocery store. I get really nice, quality produce (and often meat) for way less than actual farmer's markets AND places like Walmart/Target/HEB. I highly…
  • 2 poached eggs, a slice of whole grain toast, and a cup of sliced strawberries. 270 delicious and filling calories!
  • I completely agree with these posters. Yeah, calories in v. calories out is really how the math works out, but I am SO hungry and tired and lethargic (read: lazy) when I eat poorly. I have some sort of sugary dessert (in a small portion) every day, but the bulk of my calories are whole, nutritious foods. I stick to…
  • Wow, no need for that kind of judgment. This is supposed to be a support community. If you have nothing nice or helpful to say, say nothing. Sheesh.
  • gseburn is correct. You can't dictate where your body loses its fat. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a snakeoil salesman. General weight loss plus toning of your core will help it look flatter and tighter.
  • 1 cup of Voskos, Oikos, or Chobani non-fat plain Greek yogurt; 1 cup of sliced strawberries, 1 cup of cubed cantaloupe; and a hot cup of Tazo Awake tea with a packet of stevia. It's only 250 calories, more than 20g of protein, it tastes good, and keeps me full for hours.
  • MHoward685 hit the nail on the head for me. Ice cream is my absolute favorite food of all time, and I eat it almost every single day (even when I'm counting calories). I have eaten a half gallon in one sitting before, so I have a hard time moderating it, but if I build a small portion into my calories (like a Skinny Cow…
