And to name one (since everyone else is), Old Yeller.

I'm such a baby...I cry at all the sad ones.

I totally feel you! what works for me doesn't necessarily work for everyone...t was just my own opinion based on my family! wasn't trying to be a jerk...sorry if it came across as such@

I could never do that...tell my kids that Santa and the rest Don't exist. Kids are forced to grow up to fast as it is...I live the fact that my 9 year old pretends to believe in Santa...whether it is for my 6 year olds benefit or maybe because she thinks she would get less, either way, I think it is awesome!

I take my 9 year old daughter on dates. Sometimes she will set up a "Spa Day" appointment at home and I get the whole treatment...manicure, pedicure, facial, make-up. Then she has to parade me around to everyone! It makes her so happy. There isn't much I wouldn't do to make her happy! God Bless all if you that make time to…

Great transformation ninja! Now cine and see me when you have achieved super secret ninja status like I did! Hahahahaha!

-
Never to late! I am 44 and in better shape than I was when I was 43!
-
You are not new...just different! ;-)

Great job....congrats to you!
-
Great job...keep killing it!

Can I just say that I am 27 with some experience instead of saying that I am 44? Ya'll can add me if you want

Get a HRM with a chest strap. I use the Polaris FT4 and it us great.

During the kick start week, yes eat 1200 calories per day. I am starting it again...great supplement to my workouts! Don't even get me started on this whole "eat your exercise calories back" crap. I suppose it may work for some, but it makes absolutely no sense at all. I think at under 1400 calories and your activity…

Put the scale away and use your clothes and the mirror as your guide. I would suggest Weighing in on e a week (same day and time). To address your question...are you trying to lose 2" in a week? It is possible, but it won't stay off.

You need to do both. Here is what I suggest, do a split training 4 days per week. Always follow your workouts with a 20-30 minute HIIT session. That is a fairly generic statement, but what I am highlighting here is that there is tons of research that you will lose more fat if you follow your resistance training with HIIT…

You need a HRM (with a chest strap), that will be the best way to accurately tell calories burned. I would suggest the Polaris FT4! I love mine. The machine is not connected to you, so there is about a 25% error rate on machines. They are set up at the manufacturer's with a generic "person", so they are not very reliable!…

As a guy, I used to always scoff at workout DVD's..."I'm way to much of a manly man for that". Well, after a few yoga DVD's and my absolute favorite cardio one that doesn't have to much jumping around, I am a changed man. My advice would be Jillian Michael's Body Revolution! It is amazing

Great post, couldn't agree with it more! More importantly, I feel it is important to hit on that "toning" term again, just to save you some issues if you ever move to a gym environment. Let me tell you two things. First, "toning" was invented to try to get more females to join gyms back in the 80's. Second, you are either…

If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know. Personally, I think there are some pretty big misinformation that is given on this site sometimes (just my opinion and experience). Anyway, if you have questions, do not hesitate to ask. Wishing you much luck on your fitness journey. May you exceed all of your…

The reason we get shin splints is for a couple of reasons. First, we are over training and second, there is a substantial difference in the strength of your calf muscle and the Tibialis Anterior. I have a good exercise that will help. Sit in a chair, place your foot on top of the other other one and and lift with your…

Do you allow yourself any cheat meals? Typically, when people out of control binge it is because they are not allowing themselves to eat ANY of the food that you enjoy. Eat your favorite foods...just do it in small moderation. Everyone has bad days...just get on the wagon again and remember it is a journey!
-
You don't appear to require any motivation to keep in shape, but feel free to add me. I am a pretty damn good motivator!
-
Definitely! Great Advice!

My "me time" is my gym time.

First, didn't you hear? 40 is the new 20 (just with some experience). Start this journey being completely positive. Sure, you may have some setbacks, but with all things in life that is new, it is to be expected. Don't beat yourself up, just get back on the proverbial horse and get going again. The one thing that I have…

Motivation is key. It is important to look at this journey as a lifestyle change, not a temporary "diet". Food is about 70% and exercise is the other 30%! Welcome aboard and remember to have fun along the way!

Dieting (even though that word should be discarded for a much better, "healthy lifestyle") is not an exact science. What works for someone, might not work for others. Everyone is different. I know quite a few people (myself included) that can go below the dreaded 1200 calories and still lose weight. The one thing that I…

My tricks for losing weight? There are no tricks, though some of the things posted are really good things to incorporate into your daily routine. My "tricks" are simple... eat several small meals per day...it is important to learn how much you should be eating work your *kitten* off in the gym...I always do HIIT cardio…
