I love your attitude!

This sounds great! Also, the corned beef sounds pretty good, and I like crockpot friendly recipes. I am weird and I don't like raw cabbage, so the salad is out, lol. Thanks!

I can't say that I have this problem. Healthy fats are calorie dense, like others have posted, cook with extra virgin olive oil, canola oil, add flax into foods. Trail mix (dried fruit and nuts) have a lot of calories and are good for you. Swap out skim milk for 2% or whole, use real butter instead of light margarine.…

Strength training for the win. If you are already a good size (skinny) but soft, pick up some iron. I don't know your height, but I started with measurements similar to yours. I have no shame and have been plugging my own post. I went from skinny fat to fit and continue working on it.…

This guy is onto something. I was skinny fat. My original goal was to lose 20 lbs. I lost 10 pretty quickly by just ditching soda, redbulls, and dropping cals to 1200 (when I cared enought to count). It took me about another year to lose five more pounds by getting dilligent in strength training and upping my calories. So…

I guess I jumped to the conclusion that it is grip strenth based on throwing some shots on the one hand drills (left and right hand). I also stuggle to maintain accuracy at the 25 kneeling unsupported and think that its due to fatigue in the hands, as its the last drill in the course of fire. I adjusted my grip a little on…

Excellent article, thank you. I might have to try the PVC thing!

I usually just log mine under cardio. However, I do not follow MFP recommendations; I set up a custom plan. I eat at TDEE - 15% and usually do not eat back exercise calories, so I know that I need to eat the same amount everyday, and since I like to eat a lot of the same thing - it makes it super easy.…

I read Starting Strength for form and read New Rules for the science and nutrition - its a very good read. I decided to follow New Rules first, but got bogged down by all the different types of lifts in later stages. Now I am doing Strong lifts and love it. Everything I have learned about lifting has come from the above…

Try looking up ZWOW on youtube or Fitness Blender. Short, high intensity circuit workouts much like 30 Days Shred. And free.

Vegas - thats a really swell solution! I think I am going to go there next time I have some free time and look for washers or something. Ishtar - Looking good!

I shoot an HK USP .40 Compact. We have a list of firearms authorized for carry. I was issued a Sig 229, but the weapon was too big and heavy and I struggled a lot with it. I decided to purchase the HK on the recommendation of another female who was struggling with the Sig. Unfortunately, I do not have the option of going…

Currently, I do Stronglifts 5x5; that means I do three full body workouts involving compound moves per week (five sets of five reps - as heavy as I can go). I sometimes add a little low intensity steady state cardio (walking on the treadmill) after a workout. On non-lifting days, I like to do short, high intensity cardio…

Stronglifts 5x5. Google the website. The program is free but the pdf is long winded. Look at the Strong Lifts 5x5 Women's forum here on mfp. There is a sticky that breaks it down.

I get rather bored running/ellipticaling/biking/etc so I opt for her youtube workouts on non-lifting days. I use it as a High Intensity Training Cardio session, rather than running for 45 minutes to help with conditioning. They are killer and get my heart rate soaring. My usual week goes: Mon - Lift and Low Intensity…

I started seriously squatting 6/7 weeks ago. I started with the oly bar and today I did 95x5x5, if that helps. I don't do leg presses.

That's amazing! You have done well and showed everyone that patience, persistence, and moderation will lead to good results!

Ha ha! I posted my "Success Story" over on the public boards today. It did make me realize, after so many kind words, that although I have only lost 2lbs in 9 months, I have made huge gains in strength and confidence in the weight room, which carries over to real life. I was pumped to go workout today and killed it! I…

Thanks for all your kind words, it pushes me more. I just wanted to get this out there, because if I went by the scale alone, I would be mighty discouraged. A two pound weight loss in 9 months - that would be enough to make anyone give up. But taking pictures and measurements (which literally didn't start even changing…

I started at home; with a purchase of a 100lb Barbell/Dumbell set I found on Amazon. It got me through NROL4W Stage 1, with some modifications and a few weeks of Strong Lifts 5x5 with the help of my husband to place the loaded barbell on my back for squats. However, progression can be quick with SL and I outgrew my set…

Great job! Have you thought about what you are going to do next?

Fitness NSV's are soooo satisfying! Awesome job!

Why wait? You can start body re-composition right now. Muscle is much more efficient than fat, so start adding muscle now and I think you will begin to like your body quicker than just focusing on trying to lose weight right now.

This site has a pretty good calculator: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ Then "My Home" > Goals > Change Goals > Custom and enter the recommendations from the website. It is much easier than trying to add in each activity you do all day and then eating those exercise cals back. My job forces me to be seated a…

Not as much as a lot of women on the SL 5x5 forum, but we all start somewhere. Squat - Was at 100 but had to deload to focus on form, back up to 95. Bench - 70 Row - 80 Overhead Press - 60 Dead lift - 145

You look great!

Thanks everyone! Hopefully this post inspires someone to pick up some weights today! Lorina - Your posts are what got me curious about weights! Thanks so much for spreading the good word!

So, I was doing my workout today and was approached by a guy I had a quick conversation with a couple weeks ago (who is following Starting Strength). He told me my squat form was excellent. Yay! Squat - Stayed at 90 againx5x5 Press - 65x5x5 Row - 80x5x5 but form struggled during the last set, will stay there for next…
