At my two check up my doctor gave me these parameters, 48 ounces of liquid - if you can take in more excellent and the protein drinks get included in the liquid count. I was already eating food, chicken, shrimp, fish, eggs, peanut butter, yogurt, cheese, etc. He wanted my protein levels to be at 60-70 grams a day. He…

Boomer I know you want to sleep but the best way to get rid of the gas and air trapped in your body from surgery is to walk. My doctor had me walk every two hours for the first 24 hrs. I got up all night, it was a pain but I never had any of the pain you can have from the trapped gas. So happy for you.

Absolutely beautiful!

I took all of my body measurements, calves, thighs, hips, buttocks, waist, bust line, under bust line, upper arms and neck two weeks before surgery. At 3 weeks post surgery I'm down 19 lbs and at two weeks post-op I measured myself again. I lost at least a half inch to 2 inches off each measurement. I have lost 3 inches…

Just had this exact conversation with my doctor last week. He said that everyone will experience some level of hair loss and it may only be noticeable to you. He said you may notice more hair in the hairbrush or more in the shower. By getting your protein in in the first months is the best bet against a lot of hair loss.…

2Be I'm three weeks post op tomorrow. I was given a protein goal of 60 grams a day for post op goals. At my two week followup visit I asked my doctor what my daily protein intake should be and what calorie goal should I be trying to hit. He said my priority should be the protein at 60-70 grams a day and that eventually as…

Hey Donna I have an account there under the name CheshireGirl. I read a lot of the forums but I haven't comment very often.

Thank you both for sharing. I am not very far into this process, I'm two and a half weeks out from surgery. I haven't told my extended family I even had surgery, just my three college age children. I am going home for the Christmas holidays and I really don't want to tell them then either. My husband says that it's my…

So glad that your surgery went well. You are already through the first four days post-op, these were the hardest ones for me. Rest as much as you can when you need to. I found I needed to take a small nap everyday for the first 10 days after surgery. I'm 2 1/2 weeks post-op and I finally feel like myself again.

We had to buy our post-op box at our pre-surgery class. It was $150.00 and was not optional, had to take the class with the nutritionist and the nurse. The class covered the surgery, what and how to eat before and after, what to expect day of surgery and first weeks out. We also met individually with the doctor to discuss…

Lori Unjury brand protein comes in both and unflavored powder and a chicken broth flavor. It's nice to have something with a savory flavor rather than all the sweet drinks I had the first week. They sell a sampler kit for $21.20 that includes two packets of five protein drink flavors, a mixing bottle and a thermometer.…

All of my vitamins are from Bariatric Advantage. I got a post-op box from my doctor the week before my surgery. It contained protein drinks for the first week and all of my vitamins for my first month. Nectar protein drinks for the first three days then BA protein shakes for the next four days. Two bags of calcium citrate…

35 pounds is great! You are rockin' this!

I needed to take short naps for about 10 days after surgery. I guess our bodies will just tell when we need a rest. I'm glad you're doing so well.

At the beginning you shouldn't walk for distance the first week. If the vortex makes going outside too cold just walk your hallway. I only walked inside my house for the first two days and then I moved out to my driveway. I'm 11 days post surgery and today was the first day I went back to the walking trail.

My nutritionist stressed getting my protein and all my vitamins from the start as approximately three months out there is a chance for hair loss. Trying to get more protein and vitamins at that point wouldn't help, and expect the hair loss to go on for three months or so. My sons wedding is six months out from my surgery…

Miralax added to your protein drinks will work wonders, but check with your doctor to make sure they are okay with it.

It's just me and my husband at home, 3 post grad college students all away at school. My husband works from home so all the regular meals are still made. I put the radio or a CD on and dance all around the kitchen while cooking or cleaning, makes me happy!

Freakin' Amazing! You are awesome, great job!

I am 7 days out and eating soft food for the first time today, and it went great. I have been on the multi-vitamins, calcium chews, sublingual B12 and chewable iron since the night I got home from the surgicenter. Talk to the nurses at the doctors office and ask why you aren't on vitimins yet.
