Thank you. You are right. I had a friend suggest this before, but I just kept telling myself, "Oh, it's diet soda, it's not that bad..." Yeah. Yeah it is. I actually cut down on gin n' tonics easier than diet soda. No lie.

Ohmigod, this thread could not come soon enough. I need to get this Diet Soda Monkey off my back. My intake is excessive. (People have commented on it many times before.) I hit the vending machine 3 times a day, and then buy two-liters for home. I did the math and am dismayed to find that it can add up to about $100 per…

I did not get down to 200 lbs like I had hoped, I am at 208 lbs and 1 ounce. Which is not perfect, but Not Too Shabby. I basically maintained my weight level through December (My previous weigh-in was November 14). I'm not even going to beat myself up about this one. I am just glad I held steady during the holiday season…

Well, UPDATE time! As of today, I am 208 lbs, 1 oz. I did not do so great on this challenge. I went over my calorie goals practically every day. So, I did not get down to 200 lbs. And the weather changed, and Minnesota sucks at shoveling sidewalk, and it gets dark really early, so it is hard to walk. I am paying off credit…

Oh, yes, and I forgot...ZOLOFT. Zoloft made me not care I was getting fat. And I lived on the South Side of Chicago. I am naturally thick and got thicker. I also have a serious donk. Well...guys still hit on me. South Siiiiiiiiideee! LOL :glasses: So, yeah, my normal "guys are not hitting on me anymore" method of…

I had a bad breakup, followed by long-term unemployment. Add vanilla vodka and diet Dr. Pepper, and not walking in my neighborhood cuz I didn't want to see ex-coworkers (I was laid off along with my entire department). And, of course, not giving a BLEEP anymore and bingeing.

TASTY TASTY EVIL! XD

Hurray! Thanks so much for the input, everyone. I have also joined the "20 lbs by xmas" thread, even though my own personal goal is 15. That thread seems to have a lot of traction.
-
I will join - I want to lose 15, though. And thanks to those who friended me with my previous post!

Oh, excellent. Thank you for your feedback! :-)

udproud - I'm gonna start logging my walking at the medium-ish pace. I time it and go by minutes. This may be why I'm overshooting my calories. Because I'm not really overshooting them at all.
-
Thanks for the feedback and encouragement! And mphlab - yep. I know that's coming down the pike. :-) I've been (way!) up and (way!) down this road before. Highest ever was 270+ (and then I stopped weighing). Lowest ever was 119 lbs. I'm 5 ft 3 1/2 inches. Neither the high or the low was fun at all. Aching knees/ankles/hips…

Thank you. :-) But DANG this is strange. I thought for sure I was gonna go up at least a pound. I know this'll slow down once I hit the 150-ish range, and I'll have to step up my game a bit more. I plan to do Zumba next. I love to dance.

Walking is exercise. Just because it's not jogging, aerobics, or a sport, doesn't mean it's not exercise. Just keep moving, whichever way you can, and whichever way you love doing. I'm gonna see if I can add some Zumba, next. :0)

Your MIL is a garden-variety b*tch and a know-it-all. My mom is the exact same way. I think when my mom dies and is getting ready to be buried, she'll be griping from inside her coffin that the gravediggers dug the hole wrong. The funny thing is, people who do this are, um, so seriously not perfect in their own lives.…

Looking forward to you taking your bow when it comes to the end of this journey! One of my friends is a playwright who started off in the Houston theatre scene. We might have one degree of separation, LOL!

Mine is kind of silly. I wound up not having dinner last night (oops), and was hungry for breakfast. So I went to White Castle and ordered 3 sausage breakfast sliders...yeah. I know, I know. I thought they were smaller? XD GOOD. LORD. After two, I was...full. As in, "just right" full. So I took the third one in a bag to…

Hurray!!

I think sometimes you just have to Embrace The Donk. (And I'm a goofy, nerdy PAWG saying this to you - LOL!) I think you look fantastic already. The smaller waist just accentuates the curves. Like Betty Boop! I have a long road to go with this, I know that ballet classes with lots of plies and releves helped me back in the…

Thank you! ...It's so weird! XD One thing that has helped me is to not own a scale. (I have had trouble with obsessive weighing in the past...) So, the GNC near my work has one of those coin-op scales that you put two quarters into, and it prints out your results. I have the slips taped into my dayplanner for motivation.

Oh, also one of my friends asked me if I was losing weight the other night. I hope to tell him about MFP. I think he'd find it useful, and he loves phone apps. If you treat weight loss like a video game, it helps.
