Like a lot of other posters have said: plan ahead. I pretty much eat whatever I want and cycle through a number of meals/recipes, but I control my portion sizes. And 95% of the time: *I LOG IT BEFORE I EAT IT*. That way there are no surprises at the end of the day and I can adjust things accordingly as I go.

Please! The "cabbage diet" has been around forever. There's also the "grapefruit diet" and the "insert-food-of-your-choice diet". And sure, you can lose weight on these "diets" but it's mostly water and you will gain it back when you go back to eating whatever it is one eats when not consuming all of one thing. And the…

I thank you (and my forearms thank you) for all of your suggestions, ladies. I will do some online investigation at those sites and let you know how it goes. I am determined to make this winter different!

Note to self: Do not go to aroundthemulb's place for drinks. Especially not from clear cups. And I'm not so sure of about most people's ability to judge on the clear-straw-lemonade-lightamber-darkamber-stout spectrum. Perhaps a urine color wheel is in order...stocking stuffer!

LOL, thanks for the support. Still hopeful...

You look amazing, great job! And you point out something really important for people starting out: take photos and measurements to track your progress. It will help motivate during those times when the scale is moving slowly or not at all. You may not notice changes day to day and week to week, but taking photos throughout…

I'm just over 6' 1", size 11 shoe. Want to get to body fat % of 25 or less and gain muscle. I don't know what weight that will be, but it's probably about 50 lbs from here. Open to new friends if anyone wants to add me. Tall women unite!

Very good idea. You should definitely see a dietitian or nutritionist. Physicians get very little training on nutrition and your doc is giving you questionable advice. He basically did what he was trained to do: check your labs, physical exam etc. If you want advice about food, go to an expert on food. Same applies with…

So you want to know if it's ok to have periodic junk food binges? Not sure why you'd choose binging over moderation but if you don't feel compulsive or distressed about it, have at it.

Log it! I use the days I go over my goals as a learning experience. It's one thing to "know" that a large order of onion rings is going to put me over on sodium, fat or calories; it's another thing entirely to *see* it in black and white. Really helps me make better choices the next time.

I don't know, I think it's not so complicated. You can eat anything in moderation. You could eat ice cream every day, just not 10 oz of ice cream everyday. And if you did eat that much everyday, after a few days of that you probably wouldn't want to because you'd feel lousy, not having enough energy to fuel your lifting…

People are reluctant to say this but I read all of these responses and I think "Is anybody going to say anything about the addictiveness of this behavior?" I read that you eat to the point of wanting to vomit yet you still eat more and I don't see how it's any different than if you were saying you were a binge drinker.…

^^This^^. Seeing your food diary would be very helpful. More general advice would echo this: eat a good balance of carbs, protein, and fat. If you are lacking in an area, you may have cravings to eat more.

What if the saturated fat is coconut oil? Some recommend eating 1-3 Tbsp daily. Do the health benefits of that, outweigh the prospect of going over fat grams for the day?

Why would you want to avoid going to a doctor? At minimum you should have some blood tests done to check for things that could be easily corrected if identified (thyroid issue, anemia etc). No offense to MFP, I think that the advice and support here can be amazing, but using this board to find an answer to the symptoms you…

I weigh everything, even when I'm out. Who's the freak with the portable digital scale? **raises hand**

First for the positives: you've lost so much weight already, good work! I'm new to this but from what I understand, it does get harder to lose more and more weight over time so you have to change your approach when you plateau. In looking at your food diary it seems to me that you are not eating enough and your body is…

I'm 6' 1 1/2", and yes, I'm proudly owning that 1/2 inch!
