  • Since getting diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes last year, I'm told only to have 155g of carbs per day. If I exercise, I'm allowed to add more, but even then it doesn't even reach 200.
  • True. I've never been able to swim.
  • My reward's coming next week...when I go to Dragon Con in Atlanta! I'm going to Dragon Con Night at the Braves game, and then I'll march in the parade next Saturday. I'm really looking forward to this!
  • I've been pretty lucky. Most of my family is proud of my weight loss, and the majority of my co-workers are also proud of my weight loss. When they asked me my secret, I just said, "Changing my eating habits, water, and exercise. Good ol' fashion hard work." It took me a year to lose 50 pounds because I preferred to do it…
  • Here's me from 2011 to December. Saving my NEXT real photo...for my COMPLETE Cure Moonlight costume in the next few days!
  • What anime is this from? I like this! In all seriousness, when I used to be overweight, I would respond by saying, "Yeah, I know. I'm struggling." After getting the swift kick in the butt by the diabetes diagnosis last year, I did lose the weight, and a lot of people at work can't believe it's me. From 181 last year to 132…
  • Welcome aboard, Judy. I'd LOVE to have you on board as a friend. I lost 30 lbs. before joining MFP last year and have lost an additional 18. I'm not 47, I'm only 38, but I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes last year. I've taken this VERY seriously and don't intend to go back.
  • I guess the question is how much protein should I have for each meal. I did a pair of wraps this morning with some drummettes and vegetables. The end result was 25 carbs and 37g protein. Does this sound reasonable? Also, I've already have two full glasses of water this morning.
  • Appreciate all the advice so far. I have lost a lot of the weight, but I always have problems about balancing out the proteins and carbs properly. For the record: Chobani Peach Yogurt has 20 carbs and 14 g of protein while the Designer Whey Chocolate Caramel Crunch protein bar contains 19 carbs and 10 g protein. As a Type…
  • ^^This is the same way for me. I'm so self-conscious, I won't wear the sports bra by itself out of the house.
  • I have posted how much I weigh, but NEVER to the point of saying, "I'm fat." Doing so for me personally would set up a serious downfall.
  • I was diagnosed with Type 2 last year, and started taking care of myself. It DOES run in both sides of my family, so I didn't get upset with that diagnosis. I just took action by simply changing my eating habits, drinking more water, and exercising. I went from 181 that day down to 133 now, and I've been at that stage for…
  • I had tried the C25K, but I have to start all over again. I haven't really been exercising as of late because I've been feeling fatigued and odd in my body. I have a possible thyroid condition, but I won't know that until some tests are run this week. My thing is I'm not on the couch as much anymore, but I would like to be…
  • I don't either, but I'm like you. I've liked boiled kale for a long time. I don't need the hype to know how good for me it is. I knew that before this trend started.

  • Preach it to the people! This is exactly what I learned from the dietitian when I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes last year. My mother avoided sweets for more than 14 years because she thought diabetics could not have any sweets of any kind. After I showed her how some not-so-sweet things can actually pack more…
  • By the way, this Saturday is Embrace Your Geekness Day! Remember to GO GEEK!
  • You like to spend your free time doing word-search puzzles and trivia, watching movies based on books just to see how much damage was really done (had a blast with the Twilight movies), and being able to watch TV shows you really like but either don't last very long or no one else has ever heard of. Who can remember The…
  • ^^Hit the nail right on the head!^^ It's exactly how I lost the weight (50 lbs in one year). No diet drugs, no diet shakes, and no wacky diet plans that cost hundreds of dollars, none of it! It's been all about control, and ever since I got diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes last year, I vowed to control the diabetes, not…
  • I guess it really depends on each woman, since the cramps for one can be far different than another. I'm a walker normally, but when I have my time of the month, the cramps can really hurt sometimes.
  • I LOVE DDR! I even have the soundtrack CDs to 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, DDRMax (6th), DDRMax2 (7th), Disney Rave, and DDR 2000. Put that together with that PS2 game I have, and boy that'd really make a wild workout!
  • I gave up Twinkies so long ago because they were too greasy, and they pack A LOT of carbs. Swiss Cake Rolls are great, but still have to watch it.
  • As someone who used to be big (192 lbs. in 2010, 132 now), the only people who really shamed me about being fat was my family. Type 2 Diabetes changed everything for me last year, and I'm no longer fat. When I look at someone, though, who is bigger, I don't say anything because seriously, it's not my place to do so. On top…
  • It's understandable to feel frustrated about losing weight. When I got diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes last year, I had a choice to make: Either feel miserable and down out my sorrows eating wrong, which will lead to things getting worse...or accept I have it and change my habits to be healthier in the long run. I chose the…
  • One of the bigger reasons I will not watch The Biggest Loser...the fact that most of the contestants gain practically all the weight back and thensome! Besides, I wasn't in any rush to lose weight. I took my time and lost 50 lbs. in a year. Now I'm working on getting my abs a little flatter with Shaun T's Hip Hop Abs. I'm…
  • Hey, the lollipop fixation worked for Kojak, didn't it?
  • Honestly, I don't count calories. My obsession is counting carbs and sodium. With both Type 2 Diabetes and high blood pressure, those are the two things I have to watch more. I went to a lot of trouble losing the 50+ pounds, and reading the labels has done nothing but be helpful for me. If this is a "disorder," I think…
  • Yeah, I did it myself. From 192 in 2010 down to 133 now!
  • When it comes to portion sizes, the best solution is to read the labels. Take a look at all the nutrition information per serving. A can of Campbell's soup actually has two servings instead of one, so something with 410 mg of sodium could give 820 instead if you eat everything in one can. As for fresh foods, I'd follow the…
  • I'll admit I don't seriously eat "clean" myself. My situation has more to do with carbohydrates and sodium, since I have both Type 2 Diabetes AND high blood pressure. When I'm going to buy something, the first two things I look at on a label: Total Carbohydrates and Sodium. Something may LOOK good and TASTE good, but when…
