My goal for 2014...realistic but crazy!
Okay, I have gained about 10 of the 50 pounds I lost back due to lack of exercise and this crummy weather we've had down in the Deep South...as in that wacky Winter Storm Leon and the overall winter, period. However, I already have a goal for 2014: Lose the 10 lbs and look better before Dragon Con 2014 for Labor Day…

Man Vs. Food Host Adam Richman...DOWN 60 LBS!
I'm not sure how to post a link here, but this is one SERIOUS surprise. Adam Richman, whom we know from "Man Vs. Food" looks NOTHING like what he did at the time he did the show! He just inspired me to keep stay at the weight I am now after losing 50 lbs in a year!…

C25K + Zombie Apocalypse = COOL APP!
Anyone doing the C25K, how about taking it up into another wacky level with an app called Zombies, Run! It's a series of audio missions, but the starter program, which is $1.99, basically treats it like the C25K program. To get all the "episodes," get the full version for $3.99. It's a lot of fun, and the training is done…

Ate a lot of protein but still hungry!
Okay, here's something strange. I ate a Chobani Peach Yogurt with 14 grams of protein and a chocolate crunch protein bar with 10 grams of protein for breakfast this morning. Now, assuming protein is supposed to help curb the appetite, it's only after 9am and I'm already hungry. How does this happen?

Keeping in shape while on any type of trip
I'm going to Dragon Con in Atlanta for Labor Day Weekend, and I've already set some good goals for myself: Do as much walking as I possibly can while I'm there. I plan to start with not using the elevator or escalator unless I'm utterly exhausted. And for fun, instead of watching the parade, I'll be marching in the parade…

Processed carbohydrates ARE addictive!
I cut way back on junk food because of Type 2 Diabetes. Now this article and video make a lot of sense! (Um, how does someone make this linkable? I can't get it to work.) http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-204_162-57591389/processed-carbohydrates-are-addictive-brain-study-suggests/

What to take if there's NO fridge or microwave?
Okay, this has probably been asked before, but I could use a little bit of help. I'm going to Dragon*Con in Atlanta for Labor Day Weekend, and the hotel room I'm using does not have a microwave or a fridge. Also, I have Type 2 Diabetes and high blood pressure, so I have to be wary of my food choices. I don't want to eat…

Heart Rate Paranoia?
I know this'll probably sound really stupid, but I think I'm getting paranoid over my heart rate. Anything I do makes my heart rate go up, which scares me. Now, I do know I have to raise the heart rate in order to burn calories. However, I woke up early this morning with a rapid heart rate. Worse, I feel I have to check my…

Getting picked on about what you eat at work?
Before I get to the point of this story, here's a little bit of background. I am Vietnamese-American, and I'm used to eating white rice without anything on it. I have a meat and a vegetable accompanying that white rice to give me some flavor. I also have Type 2 diabetes, meaning I have to watch how much rice I'm eating.…

Film Critic Slammed for Slamming Star's WEIGHT!

Here's a link to the article from the Hollywood Reporter: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/rex-reed-slams-melissa-mccarthys-419782 I'll be honest. I used to be big until last year when I got…

Late breakfast?
This topic's probably been seen before, but I'm just curious. Here's the situation: Today there's going to be a breakfast here at work, and it's at 9am. Now, for me, it's WAY late to have breakfast. I'm so used to eating between 5:30am and 5:45am, especially since I have to be at work by 7am. I already at a bowl of cereal…

MAJOR LEAGUE NSV!
I had to see my doctor today for my annual check-up. He said I was disgustingly healthy, which is a great thing. My A1c level was normal, and he said I was in great health. However, this one bit was the best news of all: For the first time in around 20 years, I AM MEDICATION-FREE! He said I should just keep doing what I've…

ALMOST ate out for lunch...but DIDN'T!
I was getting hungry and ALMOST ate out for lunch today. However, using the MFP app on my phone, I discovered there was NOTHING even worth eating, not with everything having at least 500mg of sodium (one of those Charley's subs has a whopping 1700 mg of sodium, more than I'm allowed for the WHOLE DAY)! In addition, when…

Should I try this hairstyle for 2013?
I'm thinking about going bold with my hair for 2013, but I don't know which hairstyle I want. Should I try Alice Cullen's hairstyle from New Moon? Or should I try Alice's hairstyle from Eclipse? Or should I go completely different? This is my current hair. What do you think?

Christmas food at neighbor's house, but NOT healthy food...
Okay, my mother and I are facing a rather unique problem. We've been invited by one of our neighbors to her house for Christmas dinner. That may not seem like much, but here's where the problem starts up: It's going to be a Christmas ham, and the neighbor does not drain out the salt. That creates a major problem for Mom…

SWEETEST NSV EVER!
Over the weekend, I went to a sporting goods store and bought a t-shirt which had the name of my high school. It said, "Jefferson Davis Volunteers Just Do It." (Yeah, it was Nike, but it's my alma mater, baby!) When I finished the purchase, I said, "I graduated from Jeff Davis 20 years ago." The cashier looked at me and…

Body feels out of balance
I don't know why this is happening, but three of the past five days, my body feels like it wants to completely shut down. I've lost a lot of weight, but it seems something else is happening to me. I'm waking up with a rapid heartrate at around 3am every day, I almost cannot sleep at night anymore, and my body feels like it…

Lost weight between the two Breaking Dawn movies?
When I went to see Twilight: Breaking Dawn part 1 last year, I was at around 184 pounds. (Release date: November 18, 2011.) When I go to see Twilight: Breaking Dawn part 2 next Saturday, I will be at 137 pounds. (It premieres at 10pm tonight, but I'm NOT going to stay up for it.) How's your weight been between the two…

Wouldn't Recommend Endomondo for Now...
I went to the Google Play store on my cell phone to check out this Endomondo application. Unfortunately, though, I saw some reviews of no more than three stars because the latest update appears to have some bugs in it. Also, be warned the full version is $4.99, and you may have to get MORE things to add to the phone. For…

Anyone doing MFP AND NaNoWriMo?
Okay, I know I'm a member here at MFP, but I also happen to be prepping for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). That starts on November 1st, my birthday! If you're not familiar with NaNoWriMo, I'll give a quick explanation. It's basically a writing challenge where one has to write a novel of 50,000 words or more in…

What is the greatest bargain you've ever gotten?
Okay, here's a question for everybody who's watching his/her budget in this economy. Have you gotten seriously lucky at a store when you find a pair of $75.00 shoes for under $10? How about a $78 dress for $3.99? It's happened to me on several occasions. About two years ago, I found a wireless Guitar Hero guitar at…

Total Carb/Protein/Fat Confusion!
Okay, I'm now down to 139 lbs, but when I want to change my goals up a little bit, here's where I get mixed up. I'm allowed only 155 carbs per day because of my Type 2 Diabetes (WAY overshot today because of hunger after shooting baskets with a dual-net game at work). In terms of protein, I'm only supposed to have around…

Lost weight but somehow NOT feeling healthy!
I put this topic in place because something's really been bothering me. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in January, and I've taken that VERY seriously since then. My weight has dropped to 141 pounds, from 192 just two years ago. 40 of those pounds have come off within the last 6 1/2 months. I have watched my carbs and…

Hurricane Isaac's coming! Indoor exercise options?
Okay, I've got a unique situation. Mid-August in Alabama...67 DEGREES in AUGUST!?
I love to walk on the weekends around my neighborhood, but during the hot and very humid Alabama summers, it can be hard to walk in the mornings. Normally this time of year it's about 73-75 with about 90-100% humidity. Somehow, I manage to pull it off, so at least I know I'm trying. This morning, though, felt…
