Film Critic Slammed for Slamming Star's WEIGHT!

You've probably heard by now about film critic Rex Reed slamming "Identity Thief" star Melissa McCarthy over her weight. Here's a link to the article from the Hollywood Reporter:

I'll be honest. I used to be big until last year when I got diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. I have lost the weight. However, I believe an actor/actress, singer, whatever, should never be judged by looks or weight. I believe in the person's ability to perform. Reed has taken a lot of heat for calling McCarthy a "female hippo."

Seriously? I have a feeling Mr. Reed will be in hiding for quite a while after this. And for the record, he's defending what he said. My question: Is he living in the 21st Century, or is he stuck somewhere in the past?
