I'm happy to say there will only be six people altogether: Mom, myself, the neighbor, and her three other family members, so a ton probably won't be necessary. I do appreciate all these suggestions so far. They're very helpful with this situation. Thanks!

I know exactly about this. I had been part of the new norm, but after my doctor diagnosed me with Type 2 Diabetes back in January, that all changed for me. I knew I had to do something because if I stayed obese (close to morbidly obese), I'd end up developing more health problems rapidly. My mother was the one who kept…

Agreed! Producers put that $250,000 in front of those contestants, and they're willing to KILL themselves into shape just for that money. I think it was last season (correct me if I'm wrong) when almost all the contestants were about to walk off the show. I've never gotten into this show, and there's no way I'll start now.…

Thank you! I've lost my weight by just changing what I've done in my life. I've made those changes into habits, and they'll stick with me for the rest of my life. I have never had to rely on TBL for motivation at all. There is no way I could ever work out for 8 hours a day, especially since I have a job that's exactly 8…

That's it, right here! I've made a lifetime commitment to keeping this weight off, and I plan to keep it real with my simple plan: 1. Watch WHAT I eat. 2. Watch HOW MUCH I eat. 3. Drink LOTS of water. 4. Exercise MORE.

Here's a trick for you. Do an engine search for "Biggest Loser gained weight back." You'd be amazed how many hits you get with it. I'm so glad I DON'T watch the show because IMHO, it's the most faulty version of motivation I've ever seen. I've transformed my life in less than a year, but not enough to warrant being on…

Oh, boy...my Alabama license reads 191. I have to wait until December 2014 to renew my license, even though I'm down to 135 now!

It appears I have a problem in my stomach. My doctor has put me on a liquid diet and Prilosec to hopefully alleviate the problem. Anybody know a good place for a brothy soup lunch?
-
Good news. I'm at the doctor's office right how, so I hope to get some answer. Will let you know soon. Thanks for the advice so far.

To put it in perspective: I weighed my highest in 2010 at 192. When I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes on January 26, 2012, I was at 181. Today I'm down to 136, which means I've lost 45 lbs. in ten months! (It only says 14 lbs. lost because I had joined MFP in June.)

How do I keep from getting bored? I'll play the music or videos on my iPod. When I hear music in my ears, it makes the time go faster for me. :glasses:

Life forever changed (And I'm serious, too!)

Yeah, exactly. Do whatever works right for you. My diet plan is simple: watch what I eat, watch how much I eat, exercise, and drink plenty of water. You've got the water part down good, so you don't have anything to worry about! The only soda I've had in the past 10 months has been one 8-oz cup of Sprite and a little…

Welcome to the group! My calorie intake went UP from the original 1200 to 1250. I've been trying to exercise, but it's been rather difficult being under the weather and dealing with the changing weather. I'd love to add you as a friend!

I'm enjoying this board right here. I haven't laughed this hard in a long time! In terms of Coke Zero, I don't even drink sodas very much anymore because of the too many CARBS in it anyhow. Yes, Coke Zero doesn't have carbs, but I tried Sprite Zero and completely hated it. Anything sugar free leaves a bad aftertaste in my…

Same with me! I've been on only since June and have had lots of help and motivation. We're all in this for the long haul of health and wellness, so I wouldn't mind having you as a friend!

Thankfully for me, I will be tracking my food today as usual because I'm gonna ensure I DO NOT overdo it. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes back in January, and today I'll be concentrating MORE on the turkey and LESS on the carb-rich foods (sweet potatoes, stuffing, etc.). It's my first Thanksgiving with this, and I…

You just gave me another thing for my bucket list in life! I LOVE that idea!

I can eat up to 155 carbs per day, so I set my standards to 50% carbs, 25% protein, and 25% fat. I know, it does seem like a lot, but 156 was the closest number I could get to the 155. What helps me is spreading the food throughout the day so I don't get hungry on a constant basis. This is just me, though. :glasses:

Before I was diagnosed with the Type 2 diabetes, I didn't really care. When I got it, though, instead of getting upset or angry, I just said, "Doc, what do I need to do?" I knew I was going to have to make hard changes and give up some things that I loved (particularly those Hershey's Cookies N' Cream shakes). It's VERY…

I have to redo week 2 because I've been so tied up. One thing I've definitely learned doing this C25K thing: Take your time, don't go so fast, and don't give up yet.

Those NSVs are so amazing. I had one last night myself. Tried four pairs of capris which had belonged to my niece. Out of the four, three of them fit me perfectly! I'll definitely be wearing those next summer! And congrats to everybody for theirs! No matter how small it may be, it's still a huge deal!

Go ahead and add me if you want, since you've joined in the journey to health and wellness! I've already lost almost 13 lbs. since I started here in June, but 55 pounds overall!
-
I'm with you on this one! The JOBS LOST far outweigh the loss of the Twinkies themselves. I can easily live without Twinkies, Cupcakes, and Ho-Hos. There are issues far more important than this. Also, it's gotten so out-of-control, they're even selling boxes on eBay!…

Just turned 38 on November 1st. Getting used to new lifestyle. Already lost 44 pounds (says only 13 because I just joined MFP in June) and plan to keep going until I reach 130!
-
Hmm...that may be something I may want to do after Thanksgiving myself, but that'll depend on just how much turkey is left over from the holiday. I like the idea, though! ^_^
-
That original post is one of the BEST I have ever seen! You're absolutely right when it comes to being afraid to enjoy the holidays with all the food. For me, it's a little tougher this time. It's my first holiday season since being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes back in January. I've already planned on eating a little…

Not by a long shot! In recent years they've become way too GREASY for my liking! I used to...until my diabetes diagnosis. I quit afterward. Oh, no, it's a lot BIGGER than 1%. I quit liking them years ago. What's more insane now...why are people dumb and stupid enough to sell boxes of these things on eBay!?
-
I have eaten Twinkies before, but it's been such a long time for me I can't remember how they taste like. Of course, nowadays they're not even on my radar.

Hey, Amanda! I'd LOVE to have you as a friend. We're all in this for the same purpose, so why not!
