Good news on that is I have NO kidney issues because I'm constantly drinking water and exercising a lot more than I did a year ago. When I did get diagnosed back in January, I was at 181. All I did was change my diet, increase water, and exercise. My BMR (according to MFP) is only 1301. I'm a little apprehensive about…

All I have to think about is this: The fact I can wear a MEDIUM-sized Catwoman costume! There's also the fact I'm wearing SIZE 10 and MEDIUM clothes instead of SIZE 16 and XL to 2X! The holidays are approaching, but I know what to do in terms of being able to enjoy the holidays without overdoing it in food. I was also…

THANK YOU! The one thing everyone needs to understand is that everybody's body is different. For me, I have to eat breakfast because it helps me get a good start on the day. I do change up my breakfasts ever so often. One morning it could be a cup of cereal and a cup of skim milk. The next morning I could be eating a…

Now that's an awesome set of NSVs! I've already had one last week: I can wear this MEDIUM-sized Catwoman costume! This time last year, I wouldn't even be able to wear this! And yesterday I scored ANOTHER NSV when I tried on a MEDIUM dress, and it fit like a glove! It's all those little victories that inspire us to keep…

Welcome aboard, tabithacate. You're not alone in the bigger bust department. I also have a problem with that, but I have lost weight. I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes earlier this year, and that was my much-needed wake up call to take better care of myself. Since then, I've lost 40 pounds (I didn't start MFP until…

Whenever I come down with a cold (enough to make me stay home from work), I do more water (12 glasses once) and the homemade chicken noodle soup with ginger root. This helps clear my cold in less than two days! Nothing beats homemade soup, since Campbell's has too much sodium for my liking.

I agree. I just looked up the info on the double cheeseburger. Using McDonald's as an example, it has 440 calories, but it also has 1150 mg of sodium (which is nearly 80% of the sodium intake I'm allowed for the entire day), 23 grams of fat, and 34 grams of carbohydrates. Like I said earlier, I'm sticking to my guns and…

What nightgamer's been saying makes absoutely NO sense whatsoever. I've lost around 40 pounds since I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes back in January. All I did was change up my eating habits and exercise more. I can have 155 grams of carbohydrates per day and no more than 1500 mg of sodium, since I also have high blood…

That's one of the main things you have to watch. You don't have to eat a lot of calories to run into the problem of too much sodium. Just yesterday I went to the McWane Science Center and ate lunch there. I chose a meal that had only 324 mg of sodium: Build-a-Bowl's Penne Pasta with shrimp, broccoli, mushrooms, and green…

You're exactly right. Fat itself does NOT convert into muscle. There is such a thing as muscle-weight gain, since one of my co-workers gained 8 pounds, all muscle and no fat. There's a MAJOR difference between 160 pounds on fat and 160 pounds on muscle weight.

Speaking of NSV, I've got a HUGE NSV to celebrate myself! This is a size MEDIUM, and I can actually WEAR this costume! I may not look like the model on the package, but this is really big for me!

I'm 5'5" myself. Heaviest weight ever was 192 in 2010, wearing size 16. Today, I'm down to 143 pounds and wearing a size 10!

"Tightrope" by Janelle Monae. Ever since that K-Mart commercial in 2011...

Okay, everybody, I just made my diary public. And here's an update. I went to bed last night with TWO pillows instead of FOUR pillows. That's already made a difference, as my heartrate wasn't so crazy this morning. It's a start, but I will still see the doctor for further opinion. Meanwhile, I'm going to enjoy a few days…

The only time taking in too much water can be dangerous...is if you hold it in without going to the bathroom. Me, I took in TEN glasses of water because I really needed it walking around Atlanta for Dragon*Con yesterday. I can't believe I was able to find a bottle of Glaceau Smart Water that was even LARGER than the…

It appears my situation could change quite a bit. Hurricane warnings are now in effect from New Orleans, Louisiana, to Destin, Florida. I'm still going to be prepped, no matter what. Question: How the heck can I post images in here anyway??

For starters, my house is only one story, so no stairs on that, I'm afraid. I can do some aerobic exercises, and I have an exercise bike and ab cruncher machine in the garage (not the safest place, I know, but there's not a lot of room in the house). I also have a PlayStation 2 game called "Dance Factory," similar to Dance…

Way to go! I was just like you, going unhealthy and all. Then I got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes earlier this year, and that was the proverbial kick in the--er, rear end I really needed to start taking care of myself. I'm happy to say I went from size 16 down to size 10 and have lost 38 pounds since that diagnosis. The…

I've been very fortunate. Many friends and family--and even co-workers--been supportive of my weight loss, although my mother continually gripes at me because I'm still capable of eating my sweets. I have to keep telling her it's not how sweet something is, but HOW MANY CARBS are in it. She's the one who made me live with…

I'm happy to say it's soda. Since I got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, I have completely stopped drinking soda, and I've actually found a surprising alternative: Kool-Aid Burst in grape flavor! One full can of soda's got at least 35 carbs. One bottle of the grape burst has just NINE carbs! It's a sweet alternative!

During the week, I walk around my neighborhood during the early evening hours because I have to be at work by 6:45am. On the weekends, though, during the summer time I walk at around 6 am before the temps get too hot (and believe me, the Alabama summer can be 85 by 8am). Winter time, when it's cooler, I go at 7am so…

Great going, buddy! Believe me, the temptation is always there, and there will be those people telling you, "Why WON'T you eat it? We've earned this!" It's exactly what you said, though. All the foods they were offering for Happiness Week were anything BUT happy for the body. Some of those co-workers of yours must be part…

Thanks for being here, Tony. Perhaps you can help me with a couple of situations: First, I do exercise about four to five days a week, walking around my neighborhood with at least five hills in the area. I also use 1-pound wrist weights to add a little more challenge into it. How can I accurately enter that in the exercise…

I'd like to help you, too. Believe me, the more friends you have, the more support you'll have in your effort. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in January and have lost 37 pounds since that diagnosis (181 on the diagnosis, 144 now). Feel free to add me as a friend, too! ^_^
