  • Where are you from? I was in the Kanungu district, in the south :)
  • I spent some time in rural Uganda and there, overweight women are in high demand (because being fat means you can afford to eat more). Me and another volunteer, who was a bit overweight, went to the school where we'd be teaching. The headmaster saw her and the first thing he said was: "Oh, you look so fat! You must be very…
  • I'm on day 7 (rest day) of month 1, feel free to add me :) BTW, I was really sore too the first couple days, but it gets better. Day 4 is easier and will give you a chance to recuperate.
  • I've never heard of that happening in the country where I live, and it sounds really, REALLY messed up... but if that's the state of things in the US, then forget the part about your husband, I can understand that. You have control way before it gets to that point. If a man flirts with you, you can stop him and reject him…
  • That is completely ****ed up. Ok, so forget the part about him leaving the door open.
  • Wow, that's the most condescending anyone's ever been to me in my short uneventful life  Congratulations, you set a new record! :drinker: That's not the best prevention, it's just the best way to avoid the issue altogether. Obviously, setting boundaries in a relationship is hugely important. They decided to set what…
  • I'm not familiar with the US school system... what do you mean by "causing problems?" Are you saying that female students in the US falsely accuse professors of sexually molesting them in their own offices? (I don't think that's what TinkrBelz was talking about, though).
  • Did you? I'm giving her a reality check based on what she wrote and how she phrased certain things. It may be harsh and not really my business, but it's meant as constructive criticism and I only have the best intentions. I'm reminding her that she does have the power to prevent unwanted things from happening, and so does…
  • Whatever works for you two, but to me it just sounds like a way to avoid the issue rather than confront it. If your husband feels like he HAS to keep the door open to talk with a female student so he won't pounce on her, that's admitting he has no control. And the same for you. You're essentially saying that you have ZERO…
  • Over by how much? Try adding more vegetables, they fill you up much quicker, suppress the appetite, and have the greatest concentration of micronutrients.
  • I agree that picking the right friends is extremely important. I've only been a member for a week, but I'm seeing a lot of "enabler" comments when one of the people in my friends list slips up and consistently eats way too much, doesn't stick with exercise, etc. I'd much rather have friends that give me constant "reality…
  • I never accept friend requests from girls. When they find out I'm Italian, they become way too forward and make me feel like I'm a sausage with feet. Girls, I am not an object
  • Watching "The Deadliest Catch" and how hard the guys work, usually sleeping just 3 hours for every 48 hour period... if they can work like that, so can I to achieve my goals.
  • The way I see it, you can still tell your friends as long as you phrase it right ("motivate me because I have a long way to go"). That's why I changed my ticker from "kg lost" to "kg to go:" I'll always be reminded that I'm not there yet, instead of resting on my laurels.
  • I spent some time in Uganda volunteering as a teacher. One of the other volunteers was a girl a bit overweight, but nothing out of the ordinary. The first day, the headmaster of the school saw her and the very first thing he said was: "Wow, you are so fat! You must be so strong, you'd be great for digging!" In Uganda,…
  • It's definitely not a sharp or consistent pain. I feel it when I start to walk or do some movements, for the 24 hours after the workout (but not during it). I guess that besides the workout itself, it depends on your fitness level and the amount of effort you put in. I'll log the workouts at 550 cals each for now and get a…
  • Feel free to add me!
  • Hey Jenn! I joined a few days ago. I also need to lose a few pounds and get fit (I'm doing the "Insanity" workout so my energy level and motivation is really high). Feel free to add me! That also goes for anyone with similar goals to mine :)
  • Thank you! In the end I decided to try the "Insanity" program, after I read several Amazon reviews done by 40-pound overweight people who managed to push through and get great results.
  • Request sent. I'm also looking for new friends and have very similar goals (lose 8 pounds and get much fitter). I'm on day 2 of the "Insanity" fitness program, it's a lot of work but I love it so far!
  • What similar workout programs would you suggest, with NO equipment, for someone who used to be fit, but just starting to get back in shape? (I can do 2 45-min sessions of stationary bike 5 days a week, but that's it)
  • I'm on the same train... I joined MFP 3 days ago, I do cardio 6 days a week for 1h-1h30m and used to eat 1300 cal, which is ridiculous for my needs. I started logging my food, now I eat around 1800 and feel much more energized (I'm still creating a good calorie deficit). I still have to figure out whether this site is…
  • Try eating dark chocolate with a banana. Yummy ;)
