Honestly, just break up with him. Things sound toxic already, and it's only going to get worse. You're risking getting into this 'euphoria/makeup > crashing disappointment > euphoria/makeup" cycle. Majorly not healthy. We're gonna end up hearing about you guys on CNN.

Wow, you get set off pretty easy. You have no right to set rules for any space other than the one you are currently occupying. Chill out before you have a stroke.

Great article - thanks.

Can't tell if the reference to drugs is sarcastic or not. But, since regular fasting can be part of a good diet, then yes, you're right. Again, I don't do the daily "only eat between noon and 6pm" type of fasting. I pick a 24 hour period once or twice a week for my fasts, and then I eat normally on the other days.
-
Agree. There's no prep for the fast, and there's no recovery after it. Eat a normal meal, and start the fast. Complete the fast 24 hours later with another normal meal. During the fast, drink plenty of water, but no need to go crazy - drink as you feel thirsty. Personally, I drink mostly decaf iced tea. If you're not used…

^^Agree with this^^ Saying things like "just to look better" is imprecise and unhelpful, and tries to diminish why people fast. Fasting, when done correctly, is a safe and healthy way to lose fat. Does this also lead to looking better? Probably. But that's the standard side benefit of any dieting and exercise plan.
-
But there's nothing unsafe about controlled, educated fasting, so I guess it's just a preference. (and I still don't get why everyone keeps using the term 'intermittent' - of course it's intermittent!)
-
Actually, it was directed at me, and everyone else reading this thread, and attempted to make a statement about people who fast. You structured your argument using a sample of the population to support your position that people who fast are under-eaters (and I would guess, by extension, have eating disorders). The unstated…

Ease your way into it - anything small thing that you do to help yourself that you weren't doing last week is a victory. Just stay with it. I also agree that logging/monitoring your food is the most important thing. It's more important than exercise.
-
I have to say, I don't think your progress is that slow... if you can continue to make the progress your making, you'll be doing great.
-
Honestly, you might want to exercise a bit less, and give yourself a little more time to recover between workouts. Rest and recovery is at least as important as the exercise itself. (And yes, there's a good chance you need a little more food...)

Start doing squats and deadlifts, but make sure you learn how to do them correctly. Do some additional reading - Starting Strength and Practical Programming are great books. Really, make sure you learn how to do these exercises before you just start doing them. If you get the form down, you won't get hurt, but you'll get…

Bingo - if you don't lift weights you will lose the muscle you have. Not good.
-
I still have that fear... how did you get over it?
-
^^This^^. And really, it doesn't look like you have that much fat to lose in the first place. When you start off pretty close to your goal, it's going to be slower than if you had a lot to lose. Also, it can sometimes take a few weeks for your body to really 'get' that you've started an exercise program and respond. And…

Insanity from BeachBody. Also, the plyometrics (Plyo-X) and Kenpo-X DVDs from P90-X. Also, Core Synergystics from P90-X. You can either get the whole program or buy separate discs on eBay.

More of a wink, but I'll take it! :glasses:

If you feel fine and don't feel like you're not eating enough, your TDEE number might be off. The key to fasting is eating normally on the days you're not fasting. You just skip a day once or twice a week. When I fast, I don't even get hungry, although I do notice I get psychological urgest to eat, which I over ride.
-
I just finished one on Monday. I do it at least once per week, and it's been great.
-
I agree with everything you're saying - this is the way I eat, and I love it. Deli meats are full of crap, and grains are empty calories. Veggies, lean (whole meat) proteins and fats are all you need.
-
I've ditched all grain, and so far it's been fantastic. It's mostly all filler, and as a result I'm eating more protein and veggies. I've also lost more weight in the last 3 weeks than I had in the previous 3 months - and that includes being on P90-X.
-
That's not terrible advice, but I recommend you read up on it yourself - sounds like a very Paleo approach, which is what I'm doing, and I love it. But there are books out there you might want to scan: Primal Blueprint and Paleo Solution being two of the biggies.

That just means that you really really meant it... :flowerforyou:

Weird as it might seem, there have been a few cases of peas (and probably other seeds) being accidentally being inhaled and taking root in a person's lung. Fer real. http://voices.yahoo.com/a-pea-plant-lung-grows-massachusetts-man-6594880.html And might I add, ewwww...
