Thanks for the responses. Queenliz my father in law to be many years ago said it's difficult to be intelligent among ignorant people. I struggled with using the word and understand how now how it affects people in the biz. I'll concede to a psychological dependence and admit to having unresolved issues that I have used…

Count me in. I've been AF for 22 days. Two yrs ago i quit for a year and lost 30 lbs. guess what came back with the booze? Looking to make life changes. Kicking my sugar and wheat addiction also.

Hello jason, I just turned 60 this yr. i used to Think life would be over at this age. I still think I am 18 just need to convince my body. I was running a spring and fall half marathon up until having a procedure that knocked me off my routine about a yr and a half ago. They took out a ft of my colon and my appendix. I…

I picked up a copy of Fit To Live by Pamela Peeke and have found it very inspirational. She synthesizes what Ive heard before but it came at a time Im ready for change. Drop the word 'trying'. New habits are formed in 21 days. Best wishes.

Dont try getting there so fast. Set your calorie goal on losing one pound per week. In a year if you lost 52 lbs you would be more than satisfied. Best wishes in your journey. Dave

I also had not logged in for a while before tonight. Fortunately in my case my exercise and eating has improved so I'm still making slow progress. I'd like to drop 8 lbs in the next 6 weeks so I thought I'd get serious about watching what I eat and plan to increase my exercise since I plan to run a 1/2 marathon maybe two…

Having done a couple marathons, I've noticed my knees will bother me when I either start increasing mileage or if I'm nearing the time to buy a new pair of shoes. This will sound odd but something that has almost always helped is to do leg extensions with light weight but a lot of reps. 3 sets of 30 for each leg. It…

I am working on eliminating wheat so I make oatmeal flour in my coffee mill and use it in its place. I will make Oatmeal pancakes and we'll eat them often without any topping. They can make a pretty good breakfast food even cold. Basic recipe would be 2 cups oatmeal flour. 1 cup almond milk or silk or milk 2 eggs or go…

Guess I need to eat more ice cream. Great story, Congrats on your success, you earned it. How can I determine what my LBM wt should be? I want to be careful to eat enough protein so as not to lose weight the wrong way.

Congratulations Dee. Wow you are an inspiration.

I will be 58 in April going on 19. I am running the Go St Louis 1/2 Marathon in April and already signed up for the RNR 1/2 in October. I'd still like to drop about 22 lbs as my first target. I am finding it a lot harder to drop wt than ever. Might be because my job has me sitting most of the day. I bike to work 21 miles…

Probably depends on how far you ran. I like to eat something within 30 minutes if I've run long or hard. I like carbohydrates because it helps me keep from feeling whipped the rest of the day. Fruit is optimal, juice I think is better than a sports drink but I've had plenty of those too. Drink plenty of water. You might…

What a load of crap. I cheated my way to a 163lbs loss. Tell the trainer that. Awesome job!! I love your comment.

Congratulations. You are inspiring!

You can add me. I eat a pretty healthy diet.

I just finished Day 5 although I had to take 2 days off. I hurt both my knees on the Plyo so be careful. I ran 1/2 marathon in Oct and recently ran 9.5 miles so I am not totally new to exercise but this program is really intense. I am also training for another 1/2 in April. I told my wife it will take me 4 Xs through the…

Hi Moog, I like your pic. Your hair is beautiful. I also am an emotional eater and sometimes would be better off going to bed earlier so I would not eat. I really feel like I am getting very motivated to eat a lot more healthy foods. I gave up alcohol 4.5 mos ago. I am trying to eliminate sugar and wheat. The wheat is…

Fitness happens one day at a time. This is a great website for support and lots of good ideas. You go girl and good luck. Sounds like you have the resolve to make it happen. Don't be afraid to tell people, it will help you stay true to your commitment. I started running again at 40 after a couple decade reprieve and I…

Running hurts period. Get good shoes, go to a running center for help. They will be able to determine how you pronate. You don't want to skimp here. Start out very gradually. Do less than you think you can even mixing a little running with your walks. Over time you'll be able to run longer and walk less. If you can find a…

I lost 30 lbs running when I trained for a marathon. You can definitely lose wt and keep it off. Great cardio exercise too. Just cross train to build strength and run 3 days / wk. Good luck!

I took up running again when I turned 40 after a 20 yr hiatus. Being a bit OCD I set a goal to run a marathon in my first year of running which everything I read advised against it. I made it to 17 miles in my long runs before an overuse injury dashed my chances of making my goal. I did make it in my 2nd year running. I…

You go Girl! Great success story. You earned every pound of it.

I have an active wife and two adult daughters so I can empathize with your experience. Please don't think all bike riders are creeps either. Find a fanny pack at target or walmart or look on Amazon. You can easily carry a cell phone and mace in it. I bought mace for all my girls and would prefer they all have it with them…

You could have a tight ITB. The illiotibial band runs from the hip down the outside of your leg to the ankle. If this tendon isn't stretched you will think you have all kinds of issues. A few days of stretching will make it go away fast if that is the problem. I remember when I started running I thought I had degenerative…

You asked for it but I have a feeling you are just wanting to vent. You clearly need more sleep. I think if I were getting off work when you do I would be hitting the sack sooner out of exhaustion. Your self talk needs work. Probably because your life is out of balance. You made some choices that you need to remind…

I just finished day 3 and got my butt kicked. I haven't worked out this intensely in my life and I;ve run two marathons and wrestled in HS. I can't imagine the results in the testimonials aren't achievable. I run and bike a lot but this program makes me feel like I am totally out of shape. I did a half marathon in October…

I also use RunKeeper. Pretty cool free app. I like seeing where I've been on a map. On cloudy days the updates seem to be off but overall I am very pleased with this.

Great idea thanks for posting. I am sitting here reading all this talk of food, getting hungry ready to eat dinner with the blue haired peeps and I'll bet this could get me through to dinner.

I don't see the need to apologize. What we need to be mad as hell about is how we are being fed GMOs without our knowledge. Most other civilized countries have outlawed them. Most fast food is "fat food". Those who want to be healthy will stay away from fast food restaurants as much as possible. I've built a few…

Proper amount of sleep, exercise and healthy eating should do the trick. I'll bet you're short changing yourself. The kids will be grown all too soon. Smile and no one will notice the bags under your eyes.
