  • Great plan Jill! I've been sick the last week; today I finally have my voice back. I'm looking forward to spending the weekend talking and drinking water (or anything else) without wincing.
  • Happy Halloween everyone. I've put off buying candy until today so that it wasn't in the house to tempt me. Now I just have to figure out how much to get.
  • It's been a rough week, but I'm chugging along. Have a great weekend everyone!
  • Today was the first day in a while that I took a walk. Weather was crisp and the leaves are falling. I love the sound of leaves crunching under my feet.
  • I spent the weekend in Colorado’s wine valley riding a bike from vineyard to vineyard eating and drinking way too much. I didn’t track calories or activity and just enjoyed myself. Today... back to reality.
  • Today mark our first snow of the season. It didn’t stick and was over quickly, but it’s here! I’ll probably bundle up and go for a walk anyway though
  • Doesn't getting back into lifting feel great? I didn't realize how much I missed it until I started up again. Of course, I pulled something in my ribs over the weekend...in my sleep... so I'm taking today off and waiting until i see how I feel tomorrow before making any decisions about that.
  • Today starts a new week. Remember to be kind to yourself!
  • There's something comforting about ramen, especially as the weather cools. I've been eating homemade ramen for breakfast lately - I use a rice ramen, vegetable flavored better than bouillon for the broth, vegetables, and sometimes a hard boiled egg. I love soup for breakfast. Today is a day on the run. After work I'm…
  • How's your breathing when you lift? I hold my breath during heavy lifts and then sometimes forget to exhale and inhale before the next rep. That definitely leads to yawning, but not necessarily sleepiness.
  • I don't know if this is a go to or not, but I tend to load my less-healthy options with vegetables. If we're having pasta, I add extra peppers and zucchini. I turn tacos into fajitas and make a corn salsa. Same with enchiladas - I'll make chicken or beef for my husband and a batch of veggie for me, then have one of each…
  • Thanks! I'll have to look those up. I'm in a bit of a food rut right now.
  • I don't know what's in that pasta, but I want it! It looks fantastic. We do Christmas a little bit differently in my house... everything is last minute so that everything is impulse. I never know what's going to happen. Admittedly though, one year I waited too long and Christmas dinner was hot dogs and frozen pizza (the…
  • My lack of creativity led me back to StrongLifts 5x5. I deloaded quite a bit of weight. I figured it had been a while and I probably should ease back in. It was a great break in the day. I wrapped a meeting and got in the car. No time to stress about anything. I expect to be sore tomorrow :)
  • I woke up this morning and realized that I'd had enough of letting work stress me out. I've been running 2-3 times/week, but I haven't been to the gym in over a month. I'm meeting my husband there today at 11:15. Now all I have to do is figure out which weight lifting program I'm going to do.
  • I’m glad you’re back Jill. Sounds like you’ve been busy! Two kids at Homecoming-wow. My son is at an alternative school so they don’t have sports. I’m already dreading prom though. Hope everyone has a good week!
  • It's been a roller coaster of a week for me. I'm looking forward to getting the last bit of work done today and logging off for the weekend. I need a refresh. Has anyone heard from Jill lately? She seems to be missing from this thread...
  • Pre-Breakfast: coffee, coconut water Breakfast: ramen (homemade, not the packet) Lunch: chicken fajitas - left over from last night minus the guacamole because I'm out Dinner: either coconut curry with cauliflower rice or ravioli with marinara, loaded with veggies (depends on how much energy I have later) Snacks: I have…
  • I over cook at dinner time so that I’m sure to have leftovers. If I’m doing pasta, I’ll overload it with peppers and zucchini. Today I made chicken fajitas with plenty for tomorrow
  • Sunday happened... The plan, once again, walk to the park, run around the pond, walk around it, run around, go home. The reality: walk to the park, run around the pond, stop to talk to neighbor and play with puppies, walk, run about a quarter mile instead of the full distance around the pond, go home, clean up, go to…
  • I have not idea how to work through a mental block either, so I'm trying this... Today's plan was walk to the pond (.25 miles), run around the pond (.5 miles), walk around it, run around it, walk home. The reality was I walked to the pond, ran around it, started to walk around it, felt an unwelcome gurgle in my belly,…
  • I use them when I make green chili and other soups and stews. I'd also say, why not make a salsa? Nothing says you have to use it for chips. Add it to eggs. Make enchilada zucchini boat (pretty much enchiladas stuffed into a zucchini), or stuffed peppers. I'm sure that you could also search for recipes with tomatillos.…
  • I feel like I'm just going through the motions this week. Wake up. Drink Coffee. Go for a walk or run. Work. Eat... The empty bag of chips in the trash tells me I haven't been making the best food choices. But, at least motion is part of the motion. According to the fitbit app, it's Wednesday and I've exercised three…
  • Week 4 Repeat - I think I have a week 4 mental block. I went out Sunday and again today with the same results as last week. The first half is easy. I mean, really easy. But, for whatever reason, the second half just isn't happening for me. As soon as that darn trainer tells me I'm half way there, everything changes. What I…
  • Uh-oh... are we talking sports now? As a Broncos fan with a Patriots fan husband, I know how dicey this can get... Either way, Happy Friday, and may all your sports teams win this weekend
  • I get how you could see that. Because no, I don’t enjoy running. That said, the things I like about it outweigh that. I like the challenge of it, both physically and mentally for me. It puts me outside of my comfort zone. And, it encourages me to push passed the limitations that my body tells me I have. It’s also gotten me…
  • I think, without meaning to, I did adjust those intervals, creating that week 3.5. Week 3 to 4 is a big jump. I'm good with failing miserably at it the first time around and trying again for a second week; it's all part of the process for me. Eventually I'll get there and then will move onto week 5. I was pretty darned…
  • Week 4, Day 3 I still haven't managed to successfully complete a week 4 day. I am getting closer though, so that counts for something. I'll just try again next week. Here are a few things that I can say for certain: Four (five if you count my recovery week) weeks later, I'm no closer to enjoying running. I still don't like…
  • My son started his senior year on August 15. I think we're all a little traumatized by it... This may be worse than him getting his driver's license and first car. Luckily on that front, he drives like an old man. Or at least like my dad did - slow and cautious.
  • I haven't tried Zombies Run, but may have to check that out Week 4, Day 2 - one week later The week off gave me time to recover; I was going on short, slow walks during that time to keep myself moving. I also considered bumping down to week 3 and easing my way back into week 4, but then my shirt reminded me that I've got…
