Aww, I'm sorry you're sick! That's the worst, especially when you feel like you're on a role and finally making some real progress only to have it derailed by illness or injury. Have definitely been there before! What I would recommend is just staying within your calorie limit (while upping your intake of vitamin c and…

Five or six pounds sounds more reasonable (if on the upper end of what's possible and healthy at the same time), since it is not recommended for most people to lose more than two pounds a week. From the NIH website: "Weight loss should be about 1 to 2 pounds per week for a period of 6 months, with the subsequent strategy…

I love this! Every time I see folks talking about having to get new clothes, I'm like, "No! Find you a good tailor...or learn how to sew!" Waste not, want not! Although, if there is a really significant loss or if someone never was able to find things they actually liked in their size before...or just never liked…

I am starting to see a little definition in my shoulders and collar bone area again. I didn't realize how much I missed seeing those things. I feel like my old self is slowly emerging from the cocoon.

^This! I had no idea how emotional this process was going to be. Now, I have to actually deal with my feelings rather than eating them! It's all good, though, because we all know deep down that the only way out is through.

I weigh naked as soon as I get up and pee. I don't understand how people go #2 before having their breakfast and morning coffee, lol. I always want to be able to do that so I get a lower reading, but it's always a no-go.

Hi. I would love to join this group. Please add me if it's still open!

Feel free to add me. I'm on here a lot during the day. I'm trying to go WFPB with my diet, so my diary will likely look very different from yours, but that's not a problem for me if it isn't a problem for you!

This is so great. I have had issues with heartburn for the past few years, and I'm hoping that it will go away naturally with weight loss. I don't want to take antacids or PPIs for the rest of my life. Your post gives me hope! Thank you for sharing...and congrats on your loss!

A skirt that used to fit me perfectly--which got loose on me when I lost weight last summer and then got too tight on me when I gained it all back over the holidays--I put it back on today and it's loose again.Yep, I'm back where I was toward the end of last summer, when I had been really active...but this time it's the…

I joined back in the summer of 2012 and had a lot of initial success. Dropped from 147 to 130 between July and October of that year. Gained it all back and then some during the holidays. I had a few false starts but overall steady gain since then except for a particularly good run in the summer of 2015 when I dropped from…

Don't beat yourself up, man. I've fallen off several times myself, as have many people on here. But you know what? Every setback is a chance to learn something new about what triggers you, sidetracks you, and what you really need to do to stick with it. You're back now only 17 pounds heavier rather than having gained all…

That's awesome that you were able to overcome a rocky start at kung fu and tai chi and were able to benefit from rowing. You definitely helped give me insight into whether or not it's worth it to stick with these activities even if you struggle more than others. I think I was afraid that I'd keep going back and never get…

@TmacMMM That's a really good idea about getting private instruction before joining a group class. Thank you!

Of course, you're right that I need to stick with it and stop getting so easily embarrassed. I guess I was just hoping that here was some beginner level activity that might help me get more practice replicating specific movements and build up my coordination without being under so much pressure...something for me to build…

Oh, man. Good luck with that. I inherited my mother's thick, muscular calves and also played softball for years as a youngster, so even when I was at the lower end of a normal BMI many moons ago, my calves were still quite prominent, along with my thighs and butt. There wasn't an inch of fat on my arms and you could see…

I had to go to physical therapy every spring for years for rhomboid issues related to shoveling, because I lived with a roommate who got really angry anytime the footpath wasn't perfectly shoveled all the way to the concrete. If she fell on ice it was everyone else's fault for not shoveling well enough. Even when we went…

Ah, the male gaze. I used to get this kind of unwanted attention a lot when I was younger and fitter and also really disliked it. I did not appreciate being looked at like I was a cheeseburger someone wanted to devour, because it felt dehumanizing. Now, I find myself wondering if I don't get that kind of attention anymore…

Feel free to add me! I am very active on here. :)

I think I've added all of you so far! :)
-
Thanks, Shayslimmer! I just accepted your request!

Holy cow! What a transformation!

Feel free to add me. Went through a similar thing about five years ago when I moved cross-country. Still struggling to overcome emotional eating being so far from my family even now.

I tend to lose first where I put it on last. I've been measuring at least two times a week now for a month and have lost 8 or 9 pounds. (Hard to tell right now, b/c water issues.) I first started shrinking in my waist and have lost the most inches from my muffin top, though it's still quite prominent. Back and boobs are…

That's awesome! I'm hoping I will get there soon too!

Maybe try making a list of all the reasons you want to lose weight and read it every morning. That has helped me a lot. I also keep a google drive folder with old pictures of myself from when I was thinner and a Pinterest board with photos of what I'd like to look like and be able to wear eventually to keep me inspired.…

@cerise_noir To clarify, I'm not suggesting that one can't lose weight while eating garbage like McDonalds. Not everyone's goal is to simply lose weight, though. Some people are actually trying to eat healthier and some people have a difficult time doing that because of how fast and processed food affects the brain and the…

My mom triggers me too, so I know those feels! Maybe you could make a list of other things you could do that might make you feel better: call a friend, take up some creative endeavor, find an athletic outlet for pent up emotions (maybe boxing, haha), meditate, walk your dog (or a friend's dog), volunteer somewhere, etc. It…

Feel free to add me! I'm 35, no kids, and live with my domestic partner (aka practically married). I'm 5'3" and started at 182. Current weight is 172. My goal for now is 140, but I might try to get down to 130 if I get that far. I have three cats--Lucy (who is a big floof and likes to have her picture taken), Annabel aka…

You may be regaining some muscle (and perhaps retaining a little water). Hopefully, it will subside and you'll burn fat while retaining muscle.
