  • I love guacamole and sometimes add a little avocado to smoothies. I'll eat avocados just about anyway, but my favorite salad right now is this: 1 diced avocado, 1 diced beefsteak tomato, juice of a lime, salt and pepper and about a tablespoon or so of cilantro. Perfect with grilled chicken!
  • Same here, though I do tend to leave clarified butter and ghee out in the winter.

  • I tend to say I eat an anti-inflammatory, whole foods-based traditional diet. The anti-inflammatory part really interests people who deal with chronic issues like arthritis. And I also stay away from paleo or primal phrasing in the real world. I tend to find it to be a bit misleading and narrow - I don't eat just what a…
  • I explain that it's for my health, and that I can point them to the science behind it if they're interested (usually via Marks Daily Apple, Robb Wolf's website or Balance Bites). It's hard not to over-whelm them with info, but I make it clear that there are lots of people who eat this way and we're all generally far…
  • I like it mashed, but I cut it into wedges and roast with a little coconut oil, lime juice, salt, pepper and chili powder for a more savory side dish.
  • I like to take acorn squash, cut it into wedges, and then roast with coconut oil, salt, peper, a little chili powder and some lime. It works with kabocha squash too. I've also roasted it, then mashed it with coconut oil or butter, coconut milk, cinnamon and chili powder. So good!
  • A few of my favorite websites (note: some are more primal, but it's usually fairly easy to drop or substitute the dairy depending on the recipe): www.nomnompaleo.com http://beta.primal-palate.com/ www.thepaleoparents.com www.marksdailyapple.com www.chowstalker.com www.health-bent.com www.threedietsonedinner.com…
  • I think I've made about half the recipes in ELAD and they've all been huge hits with my family. My 10 year old loves to pick out new recipes to make together. We've always eaten a more whole foods based diet, but it's definitely helping him transition more fully to paleo/primal.
  • I'm nearly a year into paleo/primal eating, and I second all of the advice! I'd also suggest planning your meals, all 3 if you have to. The easiest way for me to stray is when I don't know what to eat or don't have anything easy on hand. Planning for leftovers - doubling up when you cook protein or chopping extra…
  • I've got to drive at least 30 miles to find full fat, and even then it's iffy. I've asked at my local grocery to have it ordered, and was asked why I'd even want it! I'm seriously considering attempting to make it on my own.
  • I will cheat once in a while, as long as it's still gluten-free and if its worth it. I don't plan a cheat day - it just wouldn't work for me and would turn into a cheat week...or month. I love this blog post and the flowchart and have used it a few times to decide whether it's worth it or now:…
  • That's awesome! Congrats and keep up the good work!
  • I haven't read 30 Day Transformatio, but I first went Paleo with The Paleo Solution and saw great results. After two months of that, I did a Whole 30, thinking it would be easy. It still felt like a big change and I saw even more results. With the Whole 30, I was really able to pinpoint exactly how certain foods affected…
  • My carb levels are a little higher than they should be right now, but you're welcome to look at my diary. All of my favorite fruits are in season right now, and it's the only time I eat thmore than a serving or two a day - but I know that will drop back down. I try to keep my carbs between 50 and100, and I've been losing…
  • I tried duct tape today with the 45 EZ and it worked brilliantly for me!
  • My cycles are a little less regular when I'm eating fully primal or paleo, but I don't care. I no longer have cramps to the point of vomiting and my pms is significantly less horrible to the point that my family has noticed. I think even mire than the weight loss and how I great I feel, that's what keeps me eating the way…
  • Ok...the taped bottom of the shoes is brilliant! I haven't been banging my knees, worried the carpet/shoe combo would hurt. I did decide packing tape was a little too slick for my super clumsy self, but my workout shoes are now sporting a few inches of classy, silver duct tape:wink:
  • Love this group! I'm on week 3 after a few days of Fire Starter. I'm planning on 12 weeks, but I'm not sure after that - either I'll go on to advanced or Chalene Extreme. Any recommendations?
  • I never logged the first time I did a Whole30 - I think it was part of the process of breaking the numbers addiction for me and learning to listen to my body. The hardest part was hiding the scale and measuring tape for a month. I stuck totally to the program and lost 11 pounds and 4 or 5 inches in 30 days without really…
  • I've done this carrot cake from the Food Lover's Kitchen a few times and it's always a hit - http://beta.primal-palate.com/recipe/carrot-cake/. I'm planning to try this coconut cake recipe for my birthday next week - http://beta.primal-palate.com/recipe/coconut-cake/. They have a few other cake recipes on their site, and…
  • I've been adding a bit more cultured dairy to up my protein, but it's usually in the form of yogurt or cheese - easy to ignore for pure paleo! I'd love to find more paleo/primal buddies =)
  • I live about an hour from the nearest store that I can buy coconut flour at, so I usually end up ordering from Amazon. I might have to stock up and buy a little more than I usually would, but with Prime it's at my door in 2 days. Not perfect, but convenient!
  • We're on the same day. I was pretty convinced my arms were just going to fall off this morning!
  • I've been mostly paleo for nearly a year now and am leaning a little more primal right now to get my protein numbers up. I'd love to find some great paleo/primal friends!
  • I'd be happy to share mine: http://pinterest.com/skwidlund/paleo-friendly/ I'm always looking for new ideas!
