So glad to read that you are doing better. One more bit of advice is for the difference (the portion you increase), to consume more protein than carbs and get a good amount of good fats. The last few days I've been dealing with Aunt Flo, so I have to eat ALL.THE.THINGS. I got above my normal 2500 cals yesterday and on…

Probably this is preaching to the choir, but this video is titled "The Role of Your Hormones in Your Training" http://modernwomanstrengthtraining.com/?ref=8479 It's directed toward women and how many are putting too much stress on their systems by overtraining (cardio) and under eating. Enjoy & pass it on...

Do not go to VS for bra fitting. They do it wrong. Measure yourself using this page http://www.reddit.com/r/ABraThatFits/wiki/beginners_guide. Go to an upscale department store like Neiman Marcus or Nordstrom and have them fit you. See how close they get. Also look into http://www.jockey.com/brafitkit and you will find a…

Congratulations!!! I totally agree with you on watching carbs. I had two kids with lots of medical intervention. After my second was born, I started MFP and started to watch my carbs. I was breastfeeding and I made sure that my bulk of carbs was oatmeal to keep my supply up. When I was done with breastfeeding, I never got…

I think the only reason my boobs are not where yours are is the fact that I had a baby in 2012. Hormones! I'm again pregnant, so my boobs will be "spectacular" for a while longer.

Alas, sometimes holding up a mirror to someone is futile because they insist that it is a window.

We're not "not trying", if that counts. We have 2 boys and both times I needed medical assistance. First, it was just clomid, the second came after temping, countless OPKs, surgery to remove cysts, more clomid, and IUI with all the shots and pills that come with. Had only irregular cycles when off the pill. I'm hovering…

All I know is that I lost weight eating 1200, _and_ I lost weight eating 1800 cal/day averaged over a week. The difference for me is that I am a much happier/nicer person eating 1800 avg cal/day. :flowerforyou:

Eat. Not to be flip, but you need to fuel your body if you are going to do that much exercise. Find some things that are high in protein and low in carbs. Good fats are also good for keeping you sated longer.

If you are just starting, you should eat back your calories as this is how the site is designed to help you. It's based on solid evidence even though it is not perfectly tuned to individual differences. When you learn more about nutrition, you should tweak it to your liking as long as you are fully aware of why you are…

I travel for business often and have a daily limit of $65 for all meals. If I blow it on just dinner, that's expensive. Breakfast over $12 is expensive. Lunch over $25 is expensive. Dinner over $50 is expensive.

One of the best success stories I've read! Thanks for the inspiration. I need to get on one of those virtuous cycles.

I failed at cake mug. I tripped the breaker opening the microwave oven door when the cake peeked over the top of the mug. I guess I left it out/in too long because it came out really dry. I'll try again, but not tonight.

I've been in flux these past few weeks because I stopped producing milk for my son. 300-500 calories no longer spent. That means upping my cardio or lowering my calories. I do minimal cardio anyways. Just enough to increase circulation to mitigate DOMS when I have it. I also splurged with the celebrations I've been having…

I've been at this since the first week of Jan. and it's about where I am, so don't sell yourself short. Your startpoint was probably way higher than mine. Squat: 65 5x5 OHP: 40 1x3, 35 5x5 (deload and incrementing 2.5 going forward. I suck at these.) DL: 105 1x5

Try another brand. I lucked out and found the cheaper store brands (Sam's Club, then Costco) worked better than the name brands. I tried Pampers & Huggies. I didn't like the fragrance added to Pampers and Huggies leaked more than 50% of the time. We just skipped all the name brands for baby #2. Edit: I think that the…

So, I gave up reading last month's thread. I was travelling on business and was busy, busy, busy. You are very chatty! I come back & already 3 pages into Feb.'s thread. Anyhow, my goals for this month are to be consistent with my lifting and eating. I weaned my almost 1 year old over my business trip, so I need to…

There are 5 total, but you only do 3 in each session. Workout A is Squat, Bench Press & Row. Workout B is Squat, Overhead Press & Deadlift.

^^^ What tameko said. You are not giving yourself enough rest. When you lift, you build the muscle when you REST. Really, rest! After you increase LBM, you will naturally burn more calories at rest. Do you sense the recurring theme here is rest? I think I used rest in every sentence of this paragraph.

1. Because you increase weight quickly, you should start with any work weight that will allow you to maintain proper form for all 5 sets. For the men, often a starting work weight of the empty bar is recommended (45 lb). I found that way too heavy for me and started at 25 lb (I have a lighter bar). Also, do warm up sets…

100g is not too much protein on average. I reset my macros to 40/30/30 c/f/p as recommended by In Place of a Road Map. Currently my goal of protein is a daily 132g. I see steady losses when I meet my goals.

Starting weight: 177 (6/11/12) Last weeks weight: 150.8 (1/14/13) This weeks weight: 147.4 (1/21/13) Goal weight: 140 by 2/6/2013 This was a good week for me.

So, I do my SL5x5 at home. My husband has had his power rack for a couple of decades. It's great, but I don't get the social aspect of working out at the gym. This is why I value this group so much. Thanks, ladies, for my source of inspiration. :flowerforyou: I have small children, so work out when they are asleep,…

I wouldn't recommend supplementing with a bottle. That will surely shorten your time breastfeeding. Breastfeed your baby. The more he feeds, the more you will make. Also there are some foods that can help your supply. kellymom.com has lots of ideas. I for one, start my day with a bowl of oatmeal (most often with avocado…

Take a look at this thread: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/717858-spreadsheet-bmr-tdee-and-deficit-calcs-macros-hrm It has a link to a spreadsheet that will give you a really good estimate since it also considers your activity, specifically. There's also an option in one of the sheets to include BF. But if it…

Don't forget, there are warm-up sets too! These are important to prevent injury especially when the weights get heavier. Too bad you can't look at my exercise diary (as far as I know) I logged warm-up sets too. Just to give an example, this was my squat workout tonight: Exercise:: Sets:: Reps/Sets:: Weight/Set::…

I feel guilty if I don't work out. I had my babies when I was older. I'll be in my mid fifties when my first is due to graduate high school. If I'm not healthy, I may miss out on watching him live his life.

Here's a link to answer your very question: http://stronglifts.com/stronglifts-5x5-warm-up-empty-bar-work-weight/ However, I found that 45 was way too much for me. I have a 15# bar and started with a 25# ww which was probably too light, but oh well. I still got sore after that first workout. You progress rather quickly on…

Leave him out of it until he expresses interest. Do things without him. Find someone else to walk the dog with you. Stock up on some healthy snacks and put his snacks on the highest shelf (I'm shortish, so it works for me). Learn to cook some quick simple meals that fit into your plan. Make enough to last several days and…
