  • Hi Jenna, I also have kidney issues and when mine started declining, I had to completely forget trying to lose weight. I have since had a transplant so no longer have to watch my potassium intake but I felt so bad, I was enough for me to try to get through the day. If I remember correctly, I think apples were low in…
  • I find my weight is different depending on the doctor office I am going to. One scale weighs me 4 lbs heavier and the other 2 lbs heavier. I have to admit it got me down the first time it happened but when I still weighed the same on my home scale I felt better. I base how much I lost on my home scale that I have been…

  • You need to have patience. Seems you are making adjustments and expect it all to be fixed within one week. Unfortunately, our bodies don't work that way. And the closer you get to your goal, the slower it goes. You shouldn't stop going to the gym; the exercise is good for you. It will build muscle and muscle burns more…
  • First, congratulations to all you transplant patients and donors. I am also 3 years post-transplant (kidney) and received my kidney from my brother. KimLoan325, you are a special person to donate your kidney. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Now, on to the topic at hand. I am on tacrolimus and cellcept but only had…
  • I also gave up diet sodas last February as well as all artificial sweeteners (so it's been a year now). I do miss diet Dr. Pepper and have been tempted to have "just one" but have continued to resist the urge. When I signed up for MFP in August, I was surprised how steadily the weight came off this time. Was it removing…
  • PBJ sounds good to me! I was like that this afternoon about 3:00; so hungry I was ready to eat anything to get rid of that hunger so I decided on a PB half sandwich (1 slice of bread, 1 TB peanut butter and 1 TB Fit Flax) for 230 calories. It kept me satisfied until dinner time at 7:00 pm.
  • I like to save enough calories to eat a little something before bed. I usually have a half a cup of frozen yogurt (100 calories) and an apple or peach (between 50 - 70 calories). Sometimes I eat it, sometimes I don't.
  • I do log my exercise and eat my calories back and have had a loss every week since I started the first of August. I know there are some that do and some that don't. I just know I would rather eat them and be satisfied than not and be hungry. Good luck!
  • I prefer Lean Cuisines to Weight Watcher meals. Neither will fill you up on their own but I always found the WW meals taste flat. My favorites are the turkey with apples and I think it's chicken with sweet potato whip. My favorite WW meal is the tuna noodle casserole. But I also eat Amy's frozen meals.
  • I understand everyone saying it's done; move on. Unfortunately, this is something I never seem to be able to do. Once I have something that totally makes me go over my calorie goal, I find myself allowing myself more and more of them. I admire those of you that can get back on program without making it a habit!
  • I'm a pittie owner too. She is such a sweetie! I think Jonalee has some great ideas but instead of spray PB I would use the real thing. Those spray food cans have so many strange ingredients. When we rescued our pittie, we bought the Pet-Ease calming mist. It's a plug in like a room freshener but supposedly sprays mommy…
  • Great thread! We got the Chi (Brandy) 9 years ago when the couple who was breeding Chihuahuas split up and couldn't keep her (they were going to keep her along with the parents). If we didn't take her, the lady was taking her to the shelter. The pittie (Scarlett) we rescued 2 years ago from Animal Control. The shelter…
  • I also eat PB at least 3 days a week for breakfast. I buy Smuckers Creamy Peanut Butter - doesn't have any sugar. It's 200 calories for 2 tablespoons. I eat 1 tablespoon on a Ozery Bakery Morning Round. It's enough to keep me satisfied until around 11 when I'll usually eat a hard boiled egg. Good luck and as long as you…
  • I gave up desserts, cookies, candy, sugar and artificial sweeteners in February. I do still eat fruit - fresh and dried and the only "dessert" I allow myself is frozen yogurt and dark chocolate (at least 70%) if I have to have some chocolate or go crazy. I think I miss the artificial sweeteners more than the sugar stuff…
  • I have discovered the same thing - mainly with chicken so I err on the side of caution and take the result with the higher calorie count.
  • I'm amazed at all you do trying to raise 3 kids without help. Someone mentioned having your daughter only have one activity but seeing she is in gymnastics and cheer it would appear she needs one to succeed in the other. I was curious though as to when your daughter gets her homework done since she doesn't get home until 9…
  • I had noticed that as well (going over my protein goals every day). Thank you for posting how to correct this!
  • Larabars (I try to stay away from the ones with chocolate chips) Stoneybrook frozen yogurt - Chocolate or Vanilla Frozen fruit Fresh Fruit I quit eating baked goods, cookies, candy, desserts, sugar and artifical sweeteners back in February. While it wasn't easy, I thought it was going to be worse than it was. What it did…
  • I have been suffering from PF for years. Went to a podiatrist and got expensive inserts for my shoes, had to wear running shoes for a couple of months (all the time) and it cleared up. Well surprise! It came back and continues to flare up on a regular basis. I have a pair of Fitflops that I wear at home all the time and…
  • For every nasty person out there yelling negative comments, there are people out there like me who say a quick prayer for the success and perserverence for the person I see walking. Being on this journey myself, I know what it's like. Take care and don't give up.
  • I gave up baked goods and candy back in February so I stay away from those energy bars that to me are really glorified candy bars. It took me a while to find Larabars and while they are sweet, I appreciate the fact the sweetness is from dried fruit. And cherry pie and ginger snap are two of my favorite flavors too. :-)
  • I don't know that anyone would consider these healthy but I like Larabars. They average 180 - 200 calories each but most have no added sugar. Their sweetness comes from dried fruit. One of these with a glass of hour ends up satisfying my tummy so I don't reach for chips or a candy bar. Sometimes I'll eat half the bar…
  • I've been making dried pinto beans for years but this method works for all types of beans. Sort the beans removing any tiny rocks and yucky beans. Cover the beans with water and swish around to clean them. Drain and rinse at least two more times to be certain they are clean. Cover the beans with liquid (sometimes half my…
  • I'm 5'7" and weighed 187 but once I hit 180 I moved to XL but that's because I don't like tight shirts that showed my muffin top.
  • Wow, great recipes! Thanks for sharing the blog site.
  • Used to weigh once a week but after I had a transplant a couple of years ago, they required me to weigh everyday to make sure I didn't gain alot of weight from day to day (could signal a rejection). Since then, I weigh everyday out of habit but only record my weight on Monday mornings.
  • It's funny; I am having better luck counting the calories then I did tracking points. I lost 30 lbs on WW 25 years ago and kept it off until 2008 when my kidneys started failing and I had to be on a very restricted diet. I put 40 on through the transplant which I had in 2009 up to now. I have gained and lost the same 10…
  • Hi. My brother gave me a kidney December 2009. Not having any issues either (except for what I consider the normal stuff) but I had my transplant at Mayo and for whatever reason, I only took prednisone the five days I was in the hospital and then no more. the six months before the transplant I started gaining weight and by…
  • These sound great - thanks for sharing!
  • I signed up for MFP about a month ago but didn't start using it until today. I have been paying for WW online for months now but can't stay with it. I've never been one to count calories (I've been on WW for years and years) but this seems to make it very easy to do. I have the program on my Droid, my computer desktop and…
