I started primarily doing 5k's. Have done 2 half marathons and have registered for 2 more. I look for scenery potential but primarily due to cost savings, I look at the charity it goes to. Otherwise, I'd be spending a fortunte

1. Has anyone used the Nike Run Club for half marathon training? No 2. Should I set it up for 4-5 or 5-6 days a week to train? For 1st timers Halfmarathoners, most of whom I've talked to recommend 4-5 times a week, with at least 2 times a week doing weight training 3. Should I keep my pace the same and just focus on…

First off, congrats on doing so well. Keep up the good work. I hit my heaviest weight about 4.5 years ago. The only people who really knew I was trying to loose weight was my family. Inevitably, people will notice. It can seem awkward at first, so its common. But just say hey thanks. Don't offer up what you're doing unless…

Analyze your intentions. Coming from someone who's done a rollercoaster of weightloss. Ask yourself, why are you wanting to lose weight? Are you wanting to lose weight because of your doctor or significant other is encouraging you or do you want to get healthier? Reason being is the more apt you are to do it for others,…

TOM does make a difference. People tend to make a misconception that muscle weighs more then fat. 1 lb is 1 lb. Its like say 1 ton of bricks weighs more then 1 ton of feathers. In the end we don't lose the weight as much as we would like because the goal is to gain the muscle to replace the fat. The 1st go around of losing…

You all are more then welcome to add me as a friend. I've lost 110 pounds. I'm maintaining now. I would ultimately like to lose 10 pounds, but I'm also trying to tone up, so it's going to be hard for me at the moment since I'm building muscle. I know what it's like to need to loose the weight!

As a general rule of thumb, you DO need to do some weights on legs in addition to what you do on elliptical and/or treadmill, because in some cases, you're not strengthening the legs enough. Doing extra resistance on the elliptical or treadmill isn't going to be enough. Now, lets say you are running a lot at high intensity…

Most, if not all, Planet Fitness locations should offer some sort of Personal Training for free. In theory, they should be able to show you the machines and how they work. I am currently at a Planet fitness. Have been for over a year. A LOT of people who are in there to work out are generally willing to help out. I've had…

I'm speaking for complete experience here. I think asking someone who has actually been in the situation is best suited here. In MY case it's sometimes there's a trigger behind WHY weight is gained. I lost 110 pounds about 9 years ago. it took me 15 months to get it off. I watched what I ate, I worked out and managed to…

When I started going to the gym, I spent the money on a personal trainer for a couple reasons, one being accountability because I was weighed and measured once a month and didn't want to show gain, and two, I was shown proper form for weights as well as shown new things to do that I can do on my own if I wasn't at the gym.…

It's never to early to start the gym. If you start now with the weights, you may not see as much of a weight loss for a couple of weeks because you're building up the muscles. Building muscles actually will help loose the weight because what the muscle does it helps burn the fat. I know some people do love running outside…

jenbk2, I know the frustration as far as loosing weight on the new program for weight watchers. i lost a ton of weigh (100 pounds to be exact), about 8 years ago. put it back on for different reasons, and so when I wen to try to loose weight again with their new points plus program, I couldn't loose anything.
