I have been picking up a few things at the 'second hand" store. One here is called Value Village and we have always jokingly called it The V V Boutique! There are lots of consignment and charity type stores where you can get slightly used clothing that still looks good. I started out in size 24 pants and now I am down to…

When I starting "monitoring my food intake", the only people who knew were one of my sisters and a couple of other people who I wanted to tell about MFP right away. The rest have learned by seeing the results. I get many complements on how I look now after losing a bit over 50 pounds but people started to notice the change…

It's a way of telling what size frame your body has. I thought that it was the middle finger and the thumb circled around the wrist to determine frame size. If your fingers do not meet/touch, your frame is large. If your fingers do meet/touch, your frame is medium and if your fingers overlap, your frame would be small. If…

I haven't seen the cherry MIO yet. I've been using MIO for months now but I've only seen 4 flavors here... Strawberry Watermellon, Mango Peach, Berry Pomegranate and Fruit Punch. Now I'm curious if I've missed a flavor....

I'm sorry you are having trouble Diane. I would suggest that you need to check to be sure you are actually measuring everything properly - use actual measuring spoons for tablespoons and teaspoons of things, measuring cups for things by the cup or portions of a cup, and a kitchen scale for meats and whole fruits etc. My…

Yup - and its why so many of us think that a "normal" serving of pasta looks small. We have become so used to seeing the plate piled way too full. It's also possibly why we are all here trying to figure this all out now. Here is my question though. In my home, there are 3 adults, a teenaged boy and a baby. When we cook…

I use the "RECIPE" function for that. Then, if I need to change an amount or add or subtract an ingredient, I can just modify the 'recipe' for that item. Seems a lot easier to me than trying to remember what you had in it when you created the entry. For those who are eating the same thing as friends or partners, I enter…

I have not read all of the replies yet but thought that, what may be really helpful to you, is to check out the information provided in the food pyramid - the guide to eating put out by the government. Here is a link http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/Fpyr/pmap.htm This page also lists what each serving size is of each typical…

This sounds like a really nice treat!

I know I am feeling cold now at the same temperatures that I used to feel hot at! I've had to increase the settings on my thermostat for daytime and for night. I used to sleep with a window open even in the coldest part of our Canadian winter. Now, since losing 47 pounds, I have extra blankets on the bed and haven't had…

What bugs me more is coming across personalized ones... like "jack's shrimp stir-fry" or "lucy's 2 egg omelet". Why aren't people using the recipe function for stuff like this instead of cluttering up the database?? Have you ever come across the "deleteds"?? If you search the database for "delete or deleted" you get a…

I have eaten as late as 11pm and have seen no negative effect on my weight loss because of it. I usually aim for a calorie limit somewhat below my goal so that I always have room for a little something if I need it later in the evening.

Congrats!! I am so excited for you! I also got the same treat this morning myself. Its been many years since I was in the 100's too. I also started here in June so we have a couple things in common. Keep up the great work and friend me if you'd like to.

I use the figures here on MFP. I am set at sedentary (which I am) and a loss of 1 pound per week. My calorie goal right now is 1420 but I use that as the maximum daily allowance BUT I also NEVER eat less than 1200 a day. I know me and my weight loss will slow or stop if I eat too few calories daily. I have recently started…

We always have our largest meal at suppertime. My daughter and I (who are both on MFP and losing weight) eat the same foods exactly as the rest of the family. Both of us just make sure we weigh and measure our portions so we know how to calculate the foods we eat. We try to make this as simple as possible for us and for…

Right now, I'm looking at that calorie goal number as a ceiling and I try to never go below 1200. This has been working for me so far. I have had a few days where I was over my goal number anywhere from 100 to 500 but those days are fewer than the days I am under. My daily goal has been dropping as I have lost weight. When…

I found MFP on the 13th of June this year. I really didn't think I was eating "that" much and to prove it to myself, I entered in the foods that I had eaten that day. Boy, was I wrong. The very next day I started using MFP as a monitor for what I ate daily. Since then, I have dropped 45 pounds! For whatever reason, I'm…

Here is a link to "The Magic Muffin Mix". With this mix you can make a single muffin at a time in a variety of flavors just by adding a few simple ingredients to the mix. It might be what you need as you can make just one and there are no more around until you bake another one. Here is my pinterest link..…

The article sited is quite interesting. It does give certain guidelines though, like it is not recommended to do more than once per week and to be very strict keeping on point the remainder of the week. It also recommends eating fat of no more than 0.3g/kg of body weight (break out your converters and calculators) on the…

Congrats for all your hard work! You are an inspiration to many and the visual of the pant size comparison is amazing!

I have not seen mine recalculate automatically that I know of but I have been told that it does. However, I go into my settings and then into Update Diet/Fitness Profile. I check all the entries and settings and then click on 'Update Profile". That is when I noticed that the number of calories I had been allotted prior to…

Congrats!! I know just how you feel. I was over-the-moon happy when I fit into some size 16 jeans! Keep up the great work!

Hi there - I've been doing MFP since mid-June this year. I'm down 42 lbs so far. I also have problems with arthritis and have had to have both hips replaced 5 years ago. It is also in my lower back so there are times when walking is still difficult. I'm on disability as well for those problems and for depression. In April…

I see no-one has ever replied here to answer the questions about Miracle Whip. Miracle Whip is a creamy type plain salad dressing somewhat like mayonnaise but lightened up in calories and fat. You could just substitute light mayonnaise instead and it will be very similar.

I'm also a WW dropout. I attended 3 different times in my life. No long ago, I discovered my most recent weigh-in card while cleaning out some junk. Upon close inspection, I discovered that, over the time period the card covered (about 24 weeks), I was only 3 pounds less than the beginning weight recorded. I also found a…
