Wondering if I could join in here? I just turned 72 and I’m working at dropping another 35 to 45 pounds. I used MFP a few years ago and managed to drop 84 pounds but I had picked some of those back up again. I started again seriously right after my sisters and I got together in February when I realized I was, once again,…

I have the same problem with not having the recipes on my iPad but I’ve just found I can get them on my iPhone 7 which is old and has a small screen. Also, there is no way to download the recipe or print it out. Does anyone from MFP even see these remarks?

I’m in Southern Alberta. Will be 67 this year. I had a major weight loss using MFP in 2012/13 but have been yo-yoing ever since with a mostly steady incline. I am starting back logging. I want to get this back under control and the weight off!

I know how you are feeling but I agree with others who have advised not to restrict calories to try to "make up" for the binge. I came up with something that works for me and perhaps you may find helpful. First off, I did what most of us do when we decide to get on this weight loss roller coaster. I set my goal to lose 2…

I heard this from my daughter a lot when my weight got under 200! I’m female, 5’8", 65 and my highest weight was 269. I got down to 185 in 2013 and she was really hard on me about it saying I looked horrible etc. I live with her and her family and she does the cooking. I have little control over what we eat, but I can…

Congrats on quitting smoking! When I quit 30+ years ago, I was told to have a shot of lemon juice every morning and hot baths to leach the stored nicotine from my body. I could see and smell it in the tub. It can take a while to get rid of it. The good news is that it is possible to lose weight after you stop smoking. Give…

I went to WW in the 1990's. I recently found my books while clearing out some paperwork. I did lose weight but gained too. In a period of about 3 years, there was only about 5 pounds difference from when I’d started. Back then, WW tracked servings dividing foods into protein, starches, vegetables, fruit and fats. You were…

This. It’s how I first started. Funny thing is, I’ve discovered that I can eat almost the same as I always did EXCEPT for the junk food and soda. Leave that stuff out. Then, just weigh and measure what you eat and log it. Logging gets a lot easier with time.

When I set up my goals on MFP, I set my weight loss per week goal at 2 pounds a week which gave me 1200 calories. Then I went back and changed it to 1 pound per week and my calorie allowance went up to 1580. I left it set on 1 per week and I look at my daily calories in terms of minimum of 1200 and maximum of 1580. Some…

I'm an emotional eater as well. It does help when I am able to figure out why I'm eating or wanting to eat something. More often than not, I seem to have that 'little devil' on my shoulder telling me I really am hungry and "just eat something, you'll feel better". Something that has been working for me is a rule of Just…

I agree! Also, I've tried having just a little if it fits into my days calories but then the next thing I know, I've decided to eat the whole thing and still go to find more. I've asked my daughter to have a bit more fruit in the house.

There already is quite a lot of shelving in there but it's got my stuff on it. I'll have to figure something out.

You are very intuitive. She hasn't exactly taken it over, just puts stuff in there that she has nowhere else to keep. Trouble is, it goes in there and never gets taken back out or a proper place found for it. It's a very difficult situation. There are 8 people living in a smallish house so there isn't much extra space.…

I dropped 61 pounds by keeping track of everything I ate and tracking my exercise as well. It works if you use it. It's a great tool!

True. If it wasn't all stored in my sewing room, it would help. My sewing room was where I went to release my frustrations and find some calm. I can immerse myself in a project and not think about stuffing my face. However, my sewing room has become my daughter's dumping ground for anything she doesn't know where else to…

My weakness is candy/chocolate. Not sure I can think of anything that would satisfy me more. I know at this point I should say something like 'thinner would satisfy me more' but I'm having a tough time thinking that way. The key for me WOULD be to find something, anything that would bring me as much satisfaction. Just not…

I found the stash of leftover Halloween candy that my daughter put away for the kids. I ate some of it last night and it's been calling to me all day.

Truer words have seldom been said. I've lost and gained back too many times. Got to my lowest weight in 25 years in 2012 and have now gained back 45 pounds. I'm starting again, tracking my food carefully and honestly, even if it's only 10 M&M candies, I record it. Together, we can do this. Feel free to friend me.

Same here! Been up and down most of my adult life. Just turned 65 and need to smarten up and get this done! Add me as a friend if you'd like.
-
Same here! My step 'goal' is set at 2500 and I don't always make that. :/ My confession is that I eat Scotch mints every day and don't log them anymore because I have no idea how many I've had. Been eating them since I quit smoking 34 years ago. Damn, that's a lot of mints (not to mention sugar)!

I've eaten many times within an hour of going to bed. The whole thing about "never eat after xx o'clock" is all nonsense that was perpetrated by various weight loss schemes. There is no proven evidence that eating late at night will stall or ruin your efforts.

I just picked up a bottle of Webber Naturals Triple Strength Omega 3 supplements. Each capsule is 900mg. On the label it says for Rheumatoid Arthritis support take 4 capsules daily. Seems like quite a lot! I've just started taking one a day and it's thrown my system into a loop causing tummy stress, fishy reflux and loose…

Omega 3 supplements are supposed to be helpful in reducing triglycerides. It's what would be found naturally in things like salmon and other fish which I don't eat much of.

Most meats shrink when they are cooked due to loss of moisture. I record foods in the form I eat them and I always cook chicken!

That's great to know. I love Ranch dressing too!

Just got a Fitbit One. I actually had a Charge first but couldn't stand it on my wrist all the time so I sold it and bought a One! I'm much happier with it. I'm 62, have had both hips replaced and trying to loose weight and be a little more active. I'd love to have Fitbit friends who are close to my age!…

Yup! I remember doing WW and having to eat liver once a week. It must still have been happening when I joined the first time in the early 80's. Yikes - I've been dieting a LONG time!

I much prefer the "old" recipe method. I was able to pick the ingredients that I want, not just some randomly chosen junk that isn't exactly what I want.

I think someone nailed it when they said "complacency", for me at least. I had lost 75 pounds and have regained 30 of that back! It started out by not bothering to weigh and measure things. Then, I began adding in all those treats I had stopped having and I quit logging in my food diary. I figured I was "there" so I didn't…
