A lot of times you have to have 10+ steps for it to start counting. That is so it does not count all of your arm movements as steps.

I teach third grade, so I am on my feet basically pacing all day. We have brain breaks and walk 1/4 a mile 2x a day for a break. I get 10K steps by 2:00 each afternoon. Then when I get home I do 3 miles on my treadmill and the rest is from cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. In the summer I am close to 18K more often, I have…

There are a lot of daily fluctuations that your body goes through. I weigh daily because I like to look at the overall trends. Because I do weigh every day I have noticed that my low weight day is always a Wednesday. Then Thursday - Monday I will actually weigh up to 3 lbs more. Then Monday - Wednesday I will lose until I…

Maybe it's a regional thing? I have never heard of parents referring to their child's wedding as "our wedding". It has always been "the wedding" or "my daughter's wedding". I certainly understand wanting to look your best, but as a PP said, no one is really going to notice. I would personally spend my energy making sure my…

This was the down fall of WW for me and why I was not so successful on it. I totally understand that the reason behind this is to help people make better food choices and to help people maintain a calorie deficit. It did not work that way for me and I wound up actually gaining weight after I lost an initial 7 or so lbs…

Having it on my wrist is enough motivation for me. I average about 18 - 20K steps a day.

I initially lost about 6 lbs with WW the first two weeks, then gained it all back within 3 weeks (still following the plan!) I did not like the point system. I could eat two bananas (close to 200 calories) and use 0 points, but that granola bar that is 180 calories will cost me 7 pts?!?! I was eating a lot of fruits and…

I recently stopped syncing my Fitbit from MFP. I am a teacher and set MFP to lightly active. I also had the negative calorie adjustment, but MFP was giving me an extra 1,000+ calories a day for my Fitbit steps. Now I just add my purposeful exercise and eat about 1/2 of those calories back and seem to be back to losing…

My 10 year old daughter who is/has always been near the 9th percentile for weight all her life on the scale at the Dr. office has stretch marks on her legs. My stretch marks and scars tell my story... I am proud of what I made it through and where I am now.

Can you point out to me where in my post I say that I expect public places to be scent/perfume free? I was just commenting that although perfume may not be excessive or overpowering, it can still trigger an allergic reaction. How does that get misconstrued into me saying that people need to be "absolutely scent-free"? I do…

Even if it is not "overpowering" it can still trigger an allergic reaction.

I agree that BO can be pretty disgusting, but not liking a scent or finding it revolting is quite different than having an allergic reaction to it. I have a scent allergy, just like a person can have a peanut allergy. It is not like I don't like the scent and it is making me gag. I get an allergic reaction that can put me…

It took me a good 20 or so pounds to go down one pant size (18 to a 16) and my 18's were not tight. I did lose a lot of inches, but my thighs :'(

Please no! I am allergic to perfume. Mostly it will give me a migraine, but sometimes it can give me hives, and trouble breathing.

I think most people have some level of stress at work. I teach and I have to deal with not only coworkers, but 8 year olds and parents as well! What worked really well for me was to plan ahead. I planned all my meals and snack and recorded them all in the morning. I knew if I had space for a little bite of brownie , when I…

I used MFP successfully to lose 45 lbs, but gained some of that back after a surgery. I was having trouble getting back in the swing so I signed up for WW thinking that if I was actually paying for it, I would stick to it. I lost about 5 lbs the first week on weight watchers, but then gained it all back, plus 3 more pounds…

There are also studies that say they don't work! MYTH: Green-tea supplements burn fat FACT: "Taking a green-tea supplement—or drinking cup after cup of the tea itself—isn't likely to produce significant or lasting weight loss. "Any effect you see from green tea is probably due to the caffeine," says Tod Cooperman, MD,…

People did not misunderstand. There is no vitamin that will help aid weight loss, even with a calorie deficit. Most vitamins will only give you expensive pee because your body cannot absorb them.

You are right, people do not need to read it. But, why do it? You are posting on a forum for advice and asking for help, but yet you insist on making it hard for people to want to read your posts and tell them they don't have to read them? As far as the relevance? It is very relevant if it is interfering with the…

I take a potassium citrate supplement because if I don't I have heart palpitations and form kidney stones. Other than that I am not deficient in any supplements so I don't need to take them.

OP, I am sure you have read a lot on the benefits of cleanses and juice diets. There is a lot out there! I always look at the source of the information. Most of the information is client testimonials, or studies conducted by the company/person/etc. selling or advertising the product or biased articles. These are not…

I weigh every day. It has given me a lot of information about my body through this whole process. I can tell, "yup, that high sodium day is showing!" and gives me encouragement when I reach a new low. I have also found that my weekly loss shows a pattern: my low weight for the week is usually a Wednesday. Then Thursday -…

My gal bladder was enflamed and filled with stones , so I was in pain 100% of the time before it was removed. My diet did not effect the pain at all. The only comfort was if I pinched my right side a bit. I walked like that for 3 weeks before I had it out! I have not had any ill effects. The only thing I cannot eat that I…

My best strategy has been to eat less calories than I burn. Not trying to be snarky! I have just found that when I am truly making sure I am burning more calories than I eat, I will lose weight.

I don't see where people are being condescending. I see a lot of people who are stressing the fact that unless you are morbidly obese, that rate of weight loss is NOT healthy and you will lose not only fat, but lean muscle mass as well. Look at the post count of those who are stressing that it is dangerous, compared to the…

How long ago is "recently"? How much weight have you "put on" ? If your muscles are sore, they are retaining water to help repair themselves and that can cause initial weight gain when you start weight training.

I work about 60 hours a week. I am on my feet all day. I get about 15K steps at work alone. I had to make time for meaningful exercise. I found that I was tired when I got home, but when I exercised, it gave me the extra energy to do my nightly tasks - packing lunches, doing laundry, doing dishes, cooking, etc. If you are…

I did WW for a month with the new points system. I felt like I was beginning to go back to my old negative relationship with food. I felt that by giving points to food, they were in effect labeling foods good and bad. The fact that my morning granola bar was 7 pts. (180 calories) and two bananas were 0 points (about 180…

I make egg white, spinach, turkey sausage and cheddar cheese egg "muffins" on Sunday and keep them in the fridge for the week. Easy to heat up, and eat on the go.
