I do spin classes at the local gym. Typically I burn 7-9 cal/min based on the readout on the bike computer. This changes due to the amount of resistance you use during the workout. My running exercise where I measure the distance traveled and time taken to get MPH which MFP database uses to compute calories burned…

Enter all of the ingredients and number of servings into Food / Recipies and name it. You can then add the one item to your food diary whenever appropriate. I do this frequently and also tweek the ingredient list as I go to reduce calories/salt/fat.

My microwave has been a replacement for my stove for years. 95% of what you make with a stove can be made in a microwave in a much shorter period of time.

Vitamins in fruits and vegtables are good for losing weight...Not a vegetarian but fruits and veggies are filling so you don't eat calorie dense foods to fill up. Just add them to your favorite foods. If the seasoning are dense in your favorites, you will never taste the vegetables...

I perfer to go alone and focus on my workout while I am exercising. I also enjoy talking to others/getting to know people between classes/activities...

I drink a large amount of water during/after workouts....No issue with the taste when I am thirsty from the workout. Otherwise I drink Crystal Light in place of soda or coffee with low cal artifical sweetener.

Just a Thought: Its good to take a periodic rest day from insanity otherwise your friends will start wondering about you...

Have you tried desk (I mean Couch) to 5k (c25k)...Youll be able to run 3 of the 5 miles in a half hour in about 9 weeks. The program starts off with walk/run segments and increases the run segments as the program progresses. The program is easier than one might think if you are not a runner (which I wasn't when I started.)…

I focus on foods that taste good but not so much that I consume the entire container in one meal/sitting...I tone the sweetness and saltiness down. In doing so, I still enjoy the taste but I stop eating when I am full and satisfied, not when the container is empty...

Gym is closed...Will get a short run in early tomorrow before the eating begins!

My first run (6 weeks into c25k) I was near the front of the crowd at the start. During the first half mile a lot of runners passed me. I chose to run at a comfortable speed for myself so I could finish the race. Another group passed me on the first (and only) hill. Didn't have any issues with running in mobs afterward.…

I started buying certain frozen cut up vegetabes that I liked and adding them to dishes. They give bulk to the dish without extra calories. Most dishes have enough seasoning/taste that I don't taste the vegetables. Now I buy 2-3 bags a week of a variety of vegatables and fresh vegetables when in season and find ways to…

As for the best stats, I think the stats that make you happy to run and continue exercising are the stats you should work towards. Don't worry about what others stats are and how you compare. Do what ever makes this enjoyable so you will continue it for the long term. I did the c25k program over the summer. I enjoyed it…

Started today! This is my second time. I finished the program over the summer and ran a few 5ks. I want to increase my speed so I thought I would jog the walk parts and run ( >6 mph ) the rest the run. See if this will improve my speed...

C25k Day 1 done! This is my second time around with the program. I plan to jog the walk segments and run the rest this time.

I used my cross trainers for c25k until the 20 min runs and had finished a 5k run. I then purchased a pair of asic runners at a local department store (need to drive 40 miles to get to a runners store.) I am very happy with them. You may want to start with the shoes you have for the first couple of weeks to have a better…

You may just want to microwave it for a couple of minutes...Forget the overnight refrigerator...

I use a microwave almost exclusively for all my cooking/heating needs at home. I rarley turn on the stove/oven. I prepare/cook food using the microwave as well as reheat on the occasion I have extra. Its not hard to prepare most food using the microwave. You just need to start with experimentation to get the intensity and…

I have a digital scale and like it. The only time I have seen inaccurate readings is when the batteries are losing their charge and the scale give inaccurate (lower) readings. One time I was losing more weight than usual so I refreshed the batteries and my weight returned to its normal range. I suggest you replace the…

I believe your weight is affected by your background (physical activity and food consumption) growing up and your current environment. You can become more thin (or gain weight) by changing your beliefs and ideas on the subject. Your weight is not predetermined or set in concrete. The more exercise you do and the less…

I use a mp3 player about the size of a cigarette lighter (old tech but useful). I run the earbud cord down the inside front of my shirt and plug it into the player that is in my running shorts pocket. The friction of the shirt keeps the cord from pulling the earbuds out all of the time. Typically do not have any issues…

You also can meet other people who run and share stories. I ran a 5k sponsored by a local winery last night. It was good to get to know other runners after the race, sample the wine and listen to music after the run....Find a run in a different city and go there to compete and spend time seeing the city as a get away...As…

I lose weight in the summertime when its 95 and above and humid - similar to the spa...I assume its mostly water weight...will return shortly...The body is trying to cool down...I assume relaxing in the spa does burn a few calories but its not enough to take the place of a 30 min run...

I slowly replaced sugary food items (ice cream, energy bars, etc.) with sugar free drinks. I then started to water down the overly sweetened drinks with water (still pelnty sweet). Now I do not crave sugar, I use very little sugar/sweetner, and only occasionally buy sweetened food items anymore. Addiction gone!

I find strong black coffee has a bitter taste. By diluting it with milk, sugar, water, the bitterness is also diluted. I now drink it with typically no more than one packt of sugar/sweetner. I also prefer iced tea with no sugar and dilute highly sugared drinks with water and they still are plenty sweet. Its an acquired…

I have a Specialized hybrid that I purchased at bike shop sale one spring and have had for at least five years. I used to cycle on a regular basis with bike clubs on 30-50 mi rides. The bike is still in good condition and I use it ocassionally now. Starting to get into running since it is more convient now. Since your…
