I got done being fat 122 pounds (and 18 months) ago.

I agree about the average person's perception of "skinny" being so skewed. i think we are just so used to seeing supersized people that normal and fit is perceived as skinny.
-
That is why you need to do this for yourself. There is no pleasing others.

I rarely get those high burns. When I run for an hour I burn about 500 to 550 but I don't run for an hour every day or every week. i can't stand the elliptical or the stationary bike so maybe that's why I miss out. My daily workouts are generally 35 to 45 minutes long and are intense and fast paced. I also strength train…

Why does the world need to know this about you?

Take a rest/recovery day. That doesn't mean being still. Go for a long walk instead or ride a bike. Move without actively exercising.Your body needs a rest day once or twice a week.
-
That's some fine dedication! Keep up the good work.

I'm a little over your height and weigh 137.5. I wear a size 4 comfortably (not tight). My goal is 120 lbs.

Cutting out gluten was the biggest favor I did for myself. I have health conditions that flare up with gluten and never realized the two were connected. I eat and feel better with lower carbs, higher protein and fats in my diet.

Same here. Going to the gym shouldn't be something you endure but something you look forward to, OP.
-
That is FANTASTIC! You must be so proud of your accomplishment!

Unhealthy foods are those that don't make me feel well on multiple levels. I avoid them not because they are "bad" foods but because they are just not good for me.
-
No I don't get furious or angry or pissed off over things like this because it's really not a good state of mind and body to be in. I eat the way I eat because I like it and it works for me. That's all that matters.

Very true. Also good planning is required.

It's a bit dangerous to have your picture up on a post where you call your students names. This is the Internet and you don't know if anyone from your admin or parents of students are on MFP. Unprofessional to the max.

I agree with you.
-
Yes to all the above. Great list!

Do something else you enjoy. Why pursue something you hate so much. Makes no sense.

Start by just walking for 15 minutes until your muscles (and mind) get used to movement. You will want to naturally build up on that as you get faster and walk farther.
-
Great suggestion! That is exactly what helped me. I love my running group and I've become so much better at it.
-
Be proud of yourself and jog with confidence. Don't shame yourself this way.

Yes, me. I had a big breakfast and a huge lunch as part of my refeed day and it is still doing a number on my very bloated belly. I have total sluggishness and the carb overload is not sitting too well inside. It wasn't a binge, just a big couple of meals and like another poster said, I was also very close to throwing up.…

Heck no! If it is asparagus and Brussels sprouts day, then they eat asparagus and Brussels sprouts. My kids weren't raised on the Standard American Diet so that made a huge difference in their eating habits.

Eat whatever you want as long as what you consume is less than what you burn. Everyone has his/her own food preference so it's not about uplifting one way or putting down another. Whatever works for you is what will help you achieve your goals.

I'm so glad I didn't "just go run." I would have just gone and injured myself. Thank you for this post on running for beginners. It's valuable and very well written.

Change your macro (carbs, proteins and fats) intake and consume more nutrient dense foods. Increase your calories also since 1700 is too low. You'll figure this out. It's not difficult but it is not that easy either.
-
Yes it most definitely will. Along with cardio and strength, you need mobility and flexibility or you're bound to run into injuries.
-
Nope. Not at all. I prefer to spend it on really good food.
-
Yes, me. I have the last 18 to 20 lbs left and it's not easy.

It's not so much about mind over matter as finding a plan (food + exercise + rest) that works for you. There are hundreds of combinations available and I am positive at least one will fit for you. Keep looking. Being fed up is only a state of mind. So is being excited, being enthusiastic, being determined. Pursue those…
