  • Welcome! What I found works (ignore my to-go weight tracker...that's pie in the sky and I'm happy where I am) is basing my daily calories off a sedentary activity level and eating back my exercise calories. I paid attention to calories only for the duration of my weight loss. In fact, I still don't worry about the macros.…
  • I tried hydroxycut a few years ago and I feel like it just made me jittery and my skin look greyish. The only pill OTC that may help is Alli. Anything you get from other crap is coincidence.
  • Having the evening to do whatever is my biggest motivator - whether its just watching TV or working on my side business. Plus it frees you up in case something comes up at work (or after work - like happy hour :-) ) Plus you can go to work feeling accomplished for the day - no need to worry about trying to cram in a…
  • I won't term it an addiction (my husband would be too happy)....but I do ride. He's been dying to come up to Whistler some year and ride.
  • I started doing triathlon in 2008 which is when I picked up running (and hated it!). I didn't start seriously training for a full marathon until Sept 2012. However, I had completed several half marathons (on very little training) and a half-ironman (in 2011 - which I trained for). I'm only looking to finish so I kept the…
  • Run my first marathon and see a weight that I haven't seen since sometime in college. And mostly to get my @ss off the couch after sitting on it for a year after my first half-ironman.
  • I hated running....my husband could walk faster than I "ran". The more you do it, the easier/better it gets. I started in Oct '12 running 1.5 miles at a pace of 14:22. Last night I ran 5 miles at 10:51. It's just sticking with it. My long runs (most recent was 18.5 mi was at 13:27 (on a trail, so automatically slower as I…
  • I'm doing my first marathon in....32?? (OMG!) days. I make claim to being a triathlete and have finished a half-ironman in 2011 before I decided to sit on the couch for a year :noway: Feel free to add me!
  • Take a look at the Higdon 30 week novice marathon. It's a combo plan that spends the 12 weeks building SLOWLY from 1.5 miles to 6 miles and then you work into the beginner marathon for the last 18 weeks. I despised running and I've been pretty successful with that plan.....we'll see how successful in another 6 weeks.…
  • I'm following the 30wk plan for my first marathon in May. So far so good....I have about 4 more long-build runs and then it is taper time! I've stuck to it almost to the letter with a couple small exceptions. I took a total of 6 runs (all weekday runs) off in Jan due to bursitis in my foot - still did the long run....which…
  • Hi! I'm newish here (as in, I've been hiding out). I'm on a slow build to a marathon next May so I'll join in for 44 miles as my plan calls for!
