One week isn't a plateau. Even two weeks can't really be called a plateau, but at that point you'd be getting close to one. Let these things take it's course...

Plan, plan, plan and only have "good" things around. Plan your meals out in the morning or the day before if you can so that when night time comes, you know exactly what you planned to have - also try and space it out if you can. I probably complete most of my diary in the morning around 3-4 days out of every 7 and also…

That's exactly what I was thinking when I was reading this post. People seem to be overjoyed at the fact that suddenly there's a reason for their 1200 calorie diets not working and dropping their calories even more!! There's also all kinds of things that can affect BMR as it is in effect a measurement of your metabolism.…

+1 The initial post sort of make it sound like BMR is "maintenance calories" - which it's not. It's maintenance calories if you were to be in a coma. People tend to get very confused between BMR and TDEE or use BMR to justify ridiculously low calorie diets. You need energy to burn energy!!

And that is the reason people should not put so much faith in a number on the scale!!! I'd want to say that maybe your scale isn't too accurate, but it could just be that your house is a bit lop-sided as you say :) I once had a scale that wouldn't budge unless the different was in excess of 1kg. It was so annoying, because…

It's probable that you are not eating enough. Your BMR according to my calculations is 1482. Your TDEE for a sedentary lifestyle is 1778 calories - you need to eat somewhere in the middle of this. So if you were just in bed all day doing NOTHING (or a coma), your body would be burning 1482 calories and by doing day to day…

To be fair - 1 1/2 to 2 weeks isn't really enough time to determine whether or not you have hit a plateau. You've been losing 1.6 lbs on average per week, but the scale can vary by more than that just based on time of day, nevermind other factors. Just stick to it and keep on - two weeks of the same weight in a row isn't…

Be very careful with your measuring of the peanut butter!! I am not sure why there is something in the database which is only in tablespoon measures, but be VERY careful when measuring it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVjWPclrWVY You'll see in the example, even when using a proper measuring spoon, the calories ends…

It's annoying but feels good at the same time. I was so stupid - I lost some weight and really felt so good about finally fitting into a pair of designer jeans, that I bought it halfway into reaching my goal (I wasn't sure that I'd actually ever get to my goal). Now they are too big for me :( I bought another pair now and…

I did something similar to this before (not as exact as calorie counting and not as "free") and I stopped doing it the day that I reached my goal and went straight back up plus some more. Today I am the same weight my previous goal and I've got only a bit to go to reach my final goal (probably two weeks). I won't however…

Hahaha - I manage probably around 8 - 16 oz a day then...hahaha (yeah, probably only about half a litre). I drank a lot of water before and swore by it and was convinced that it was helping my weight-loss, but I'm not less convinced. I know I should drink more, but couldn't be bothered...

I was actually looking for inaccuracies or stupid claims in this (just because it irks me so much when people put letters behind their names to try and give themselves extra credibility), but I actually like this article and the content. I also think the quote above does answer for a lot of issues that people are…

^^^ I do that too. This weekend was the first weekend though where I was just pure lazy. I already decided that I wasn't going to be good and it was great!! (I wasn't really that bad though). Dragged myself out of bed 3 hours after my normal wake up time. Took a stroll down to the pub (with Endomondo switched on so that I…

If you are working out at that level, you should probably eat at least 2000 calories, if not more.

Given that you are 15 years old based on another one of your posts, I think that your daily calorie and nutritional needs differ based on here. I am not sure if MFP caters for 15 year old as you have put that you are 18 years old in your profile. You need to probably eat a bit more than the 1200 calories.

It's very hard to give any advice without too much info (if you have 200 lbs to lose, then you are losing too slowly, if you have 10 lbs to lose, then you are losing too fast). That said, if you didn't weigh in for two weeks and the two were the same, it doesn't necessarily mean that you didn't lose anything. Weight-loss…

Two things I wish to say: 1. I exercised, but never broke into a sweat (it's all just walking, cleaning etc). There are many people who look down on people who log stuff like cleaning or walking down to the bus stop, but I was moving more than I would if I didn't do that! 2. I ate back many of those calories - to be fair,…

And that's exactly why people who need to lose a lot of weight don't just stop eating altogether. Our bodies can only process so many calories from a source at a time - if we were to stop eating altogether, we cannot expect our bodies to simply take it from fat, it's also the same thing as if you were to gorge yourself on…

Mine is usually: * 200 calories for breakfast (this morning was 400, but that's because I'm starting to see how I can push the limits and also because my lunch is less than usual!!). This is usually oats porridge, but lately I've been having cereal and other things too. * 600 calories for lunch (this is often a sandwich…

I weigh my carbs as 40g raw = 1 portion and generally don't have more than 80g in one sitting. I make up for the "lack" of carbs with loads of veggies.

I have an electronic kitchen scale which weighs stuff. So when I'm having wine (and any other liquid for that matter, although, wine gets weighed most often), I just put my nice wine glass on the scale, press reset, change the measurement to ml or fl. oz. and dispense the wine into the glass. Works for measuring milk into…

*sigh* Don't make excuses!! A home isn't a place where you can't feel safe, comfortable and loved. Don't be one of those women other people look at and wonder "why doesn't she just get out?". Don't prolong this any more than it needs to go on for. The longer you delay the inevitable, the less time you will have to find Mr…

Is there a reason why 450 calories for a meal is necessarily bad? I'm a guy, so I get more calories, but I don't think 450 calories for a meal is ridiculous? That said, I've had probably one salad since I started this, and I've consistently lost weight. Because this is a lifestyle change and not a diet, you should try and…

It's just a pound!! Next week you'll probably get on the scale and have lost it + some more. Unless of course you go through with the baking thing...

Weigh everything raw. Once you start cooking it, it adds too many variables to be accurate. (The heat you are cooking it on can cause more or less water weight to cook off, still the same calories, but different end result, but always the same starting result). Weigh everything RAW (chicken, rice, pasta, veggies) for the…

This is bordering on starvation!! "Some of a bagel for lunch" - you poured yourself a glass of milk but only had half of it, spinach and feta salad - a teaspoon of feta and 50g of spinach is hardly a salad - it's leaves with a teaspoon of feta and olive oil on!! Why are you worried now that you are not hungry - you have…

Green chile peppers are apparently also known as Anaheim Peppers? (http://phoenix.about.com/od/foodanddrink/ss/chilepepper_8.htm) - don't know either. Looks like a chilli pepper to me... And then vegetarian burger crumbles sounds like Quorn Mince to me, but can I just say something? Quorn Mince is probably the most…

Great stuff and it's good to see that you are starting on this. My best excuse was always "tomorrow" or "after the weekend", or "after the holidays", or "once things calm down", but never right now (well, until I actually started, but then that wasn't an excuse). Good luck!! Every journey starts with the first step!
