  • 7 lbs - but it's hard work! Had to give up drinking alcohol and swim 3 times per week.
  • This is such an encouraging thread - as I also have been on a plateau for a long time. But suddenly lost another lb yesterday - wonderful feeling. The great thing is that I haven't given up and the general trend is downwards. I do think that sometimes I underestimate my calories though - and my portion sizes may be too big.
  • So pleased to see these posts - I thought I was the only one starving myself and taking as much exercise as possible with disappointing results. I think my calorie counting must be out or something. Maybe my portions are too large. I have started skipping meals in an effort to get things moving faster. I just console…
  • South Wales calling!
  • Am I missing something? What does TTC mean?
  • I would pick alcohol every time - that is what has made me put on so much weight over the years. Oh yes and when I have a few drinks, I want to eat more. So I guess one leads to the other - but not necessarily junk food, just food.
  • That's nice! It's such a good idea to take your own lunch when you go to work - or anywhere really. I have only realised this lately. It's so hard to buy stuff that is low cal and healthy - you end up buying something you shouldn't and any weight loss for that day is out of the window. Your own food is cheaper and nicer…
  • I couldn't agree more - just trust the process. The great thing is you don't have to think - MFP does most of the work for you. It makes you realise how important exercise is - because on the days you don't exercise you have to watch what you eat/drink even more carefully. It's slow and sometimes you fail - but you have to…
  • I agree with everyone else - MFP works best for me. I like logging what I eat on my iphone every day and find this really helps me to monitor what I eat and drink. It's so motivating to weigh myself and find that I have lost a little bit more. I did let it go for about 2 weeks over Xmas - and regained about 4 pounds!…
  • I am very impressed with the progress that people make with MFP. Well done all!
  • This is very helpful - thanks! My weight loss is very slow and I think it might be down to portion control.
  • I am only supposed to have 1200 cals per day. It does not seem many - but I know from bitter experience that if I go over that amount I will not lose weight. In fact I usually put it on. I am over 60 so maybe the metabolism slows down as one gets older?
  • Yes the site is great - I lost 6 pounds in 5 weeks. Doesn't sound a lot but I am determined to keep going. Got a lot more to lose.
  • What a good idea to take photos - so motivating! Well done. I have put a bit of weight on this morning despite the fact that I really cut down yesterday. But I will take inspiration from what you have achieved!
  • It's very brave to face up to this disappointment! In the past I have not weighed myself because I couldn't accept the weight. I have just been away for the weekend and know I overate and drank. So I have regained some of the weight that I took off with such difficulty! But all I can do face up to the truth and start…
  • I too have a bowl of porridge every morning. It fills me up so I'm not hungry for hours. I add prunes or a banana and soya milk. The great thing about having the same thing every day is that you don't have to think about it, and it becomes a habit.
  • I can really relate to this - it is so hard to get the weight off and then if you just slip for a day or two it all comes back on (and more). The only way I can lose weight is to be totally committed the whole time. This means watching every calorie. Myfitnesspal really helps as it makes me more aware of how much I am…
