It took me over a year to get to a 1200 calorie day. I've noticed that I'm able to achieve it by drinking more water daily and no snacking between my 500 calories or less meals. I "reward" myself with a snack when I put in a 1/2 hour of exercise or more. The snack is usually a bowl of diced fruit (by Dole) and/or a protein…

Shut out the world and everyone in it and do what I want for a change. That's usually turning up the radio loud, singing with it, and diving into something I truly dislike doing.

I hadn't heard that before, but that would make sense with what I've experienced after eating one. Sometimes I eat a pouch of fruit snacks (Welch's or Market Pantry from Target) instead of a protein bar. For some reason, the fruit snacks seem to make me feel full.

I'm sorry to hear that they are attacking you. I tend to put aside those posts that don't support me in what I'm trying to do. Sure, there will always be someone who doesn't agree with my diet or my choices, but they are mine. The only advice I can give is to pick and choose your "friends" carefully, and if you don't want…

That's what I've been doing wrong for the last three months! Thanks so much for posting!

I have two that I alternate between, and when I'm sick there are another couple of them that I brew. Favorites: Guayaki Yerba Mate Mate Chocolatte and Tazo refresh mint Sick: Guayaki Yerba Mate Pure Endurance and a specialty tea that I buy from a friend in Illinois (she has a PhD in chemistry and a Masters in botany, and…

A few things crossed my mind when I read your post. First, I'll let you know that I also have suffered knee pain for a long time. It started when I was a kid and diagnosed with Osgood-Schlatter's Disease. It meant that I had inflamation under the knee cap and I was unable to take gym class for two years. To help with the…

I think Nutella is like peanut butter, It's wonderful food, and probably should be in moderation. It's almost like a marriage of my favorite foods, so if I were to indulge, I'd eat a good part of the jar instead of the serving suggestion. How come everything good is bad in large quantities????

4 oz is approximately 1/2 cup in fluid. If you're doing steak, it's about the size of a deck of cards.

From America . . . Stay with the program. I started at the end of June 2012 and didn't see results right away. I started noticing about three months into the program. I have been seeing slow, steady results as time went on. My doctor and a friend who has just become a personal fitness trainer tell me that slow and steady…

I don't shop there, and it looks like I won't ever be shopping there. How narrow-minded.

I definitely eat more than 700 calories a day. I'd eat four times that if it guaranteed I wouldn't gain anything. :) I'm lazy about my weight loss, so if you're interested, I'd be happy to friend you. I whine somewhat, go over my calorie allottment (like today) every now and then, but I stick with the program the rest of…

There are so many! Thick-crust pizza, macaroni and cheese, barbecue potato chips, apple pie (the pie and the alchoholic beverage), White Russians, wine, burgers, seafood fettucini, spinach and gnocchi soup, and the list goes on. *big sigh*

Hmmm. I have a very SMALL circle of friends--a whopping two. But I'm okay with that. I enjoy reading the forums, but the getting fit and healthy is a personal choice and a personal topic. I'll keep it to me and my whopping two friends. :)

Love the flavor of real meat. Maybe it's because I grew up as a descendant of farm families who raised their own livestock and vegetables. Pleasant memories of picking berries, apples, beans, peas, and strawberries as well as digging up potatoes, carrots, and beets. Any substitute just doesn't compare with the real thing.

Give it to someone else. Greek yogurt tasted sour to me, so I'm turned off.

Depending on the weather, I either look out the window or just sit in front of my house. There's lots of entertainment--especially with the municipal vehicles and personnel.

I'm sorry to hear about the things you are going through. My physician warned me of T2 diabetes a few years ago, and with my cholesterol climbing, I had to make a change. I started small. Really small. I had to make me feel better to tackle the challenge, so I changed my hair style and invested in some new clothes. That…

I have had two children, and at my heaviest I was at 245. Now that I'm losing that weight (my goal is to reach 125 and I'm at 177.4 right now), my stomach seems to be shrinking with it. How do I know? I had a hard time finding pants that didn't make my legs look huge, but had some room to tuck that tummy in. I was in plus…

It's been a while, but depending on the circumstances, I usually wish them well in the future and go on my way to cry alone. Then, I put my heart and soul into exercising and learning something new.

About eight months old.

I think age plays a factor, so take it for what it's worth. I'm 45 years old, and I started MFP at a whopping 210 pounds. That was actually kind of light for where I was. I'm at 178.8 today, and headed toward my goal weight of 125. That puts me right in the middle of the "healthy weight" category. According to MFP, I…

I grab 10 to 15 minute chunks of time during the course of my day, then I take 30 to 60 minutes after I've had supper. I may not get all of the goals I want, but at least I'm moving.

I work with one of them, and I'm married to the other. :)

Now that the building I work on has the heat working again, I think I'm going to "wander the farm" on my breaks. I really got my heart pumping by climging five flights of stairs without a rest. It felt great! I'm also power walking at night, so my sleep should be better. As always, aim to drink 8 cups of water a day. :)

My goal is to get down to 125 lbs. When I started MFP the last week of June 2012, I was at 210. I'm now at 184.4. I go up I go down. I've already dropped one size in clothing, and I'm hoping I can go down one more size. I was in size 18, and now I'm in 16. If I make 14, that's where I was in high school. Right now it seems…

I have favorite authors---Rick Riordan (his three demigod series), Sue Grafton (alphabet mysteries), Nevada Barr (Anna Pigeon mysteries) are among my favorites. I love mysteries, and I love a good story. I can put these books down for a couple of years and come back to read them and enjoy them all over again.

A woman I know had a fantastic, though odd, way of training her son. One weekend during the summer, she made up three or four pitchers of kool aid. She brought them outside to her backyard that was fenced in. She brought her son outside, locked the doors to her house, and had her son take his pants off. He was naked from…
