Hey there, all! I've been here for a loooooong time, tracking pretty much every day, but over the last 4 to 5 months, I've lost my edge. At my lowest weight, I had lost 65 lbs (!) and was 15 lbs away from my first major goal weight. Since then, I have put back on about 25 lbs because I had my wedding and then holidays and…

I had a complete tear of my ACL and torn meniscus (both sides) in my left knee. I was jogging (my first attempt at trying to lose weight), reached my turnaround point, and must have somehow kept my foot planted and turned my body. It was pretty ugly- within 20 minutes my knee was at least double, if not triple, its normal…

I bet the cinnamon dolce would work. The rest, I'm not so sure about....

I am having this exact problem right now. I was doing so well until recently, when I got lax about having sweet stuff in the house. No more. Time to reel in the slack I've been allowing myself lately. I am proud of what I have accomplished so far, and I know how much better I feel when I don't have all the extra weight on.…

If you plan on making a pudding with them, you definitely need to shake/stir them. It's easier to shake them to make sure everyone is coated evenly. Make your pudding, shake well (I like a glass container with a screw on top for this- I repurposed a tomato sauce jar), leave in the refrigerator, come back and shake in about…

I just made salmon for dinner tonight! I brushed it with a little olive oil, sprinkled with salt, pepper, and herbs de provence. I made a glaze to spread on top with balsamic vinegar and strawberries. (Simmer some balsamic vinegar, add chopped strawberries, cook for a bit, mash with a potato masher, and take off heat when…

I feel like I could have written this post, OP. I am currently struggling with sugar cravings. I know that if I can cut out sugar (baked goods/ice cream are my issue) for at least a few days, that the cravings will contain themselves, but right now it's easier said than done. I work in an elementary school, and with it…

Bump to see if anyone else can help. So many numbers, it's getting confusing...:grumble:

I don't think so. I upped my calories from 1200 (which was too low- consistently hungry and felt tired, plus my hair started to be affected) to 1510 when I changed my goal from 2 lbs per week to 1 lb per week. The 1 lb per week goal was set with light activity and 4 30 minute workouts, where I ate back most, if not all of…

This is what I was doing, but I couldn't shake the plateau. I thought it should level out too, but I guess that it really was not enough activity on my busy days to make up for my 'off' days. I don't count things like cleaning or climbing stairs as part of my exercise (I never log them). The only time I would would be if I…

Thanks for the replies! I was set to lightly active and was only eating back intentional exercise calories, but I think that the problem was that on my less active days, it was still too many calories to keep the deficit where it was supposed to be. I changed my settings to 'sedentary' (though I don't believe that I am…

Thanks! I'm thinking that this may be the way to go- only eat back intentional or excessive amounts of exercise calories, which would show up what I believe would be more accurately.

OMG, I could have written this! I live in NJ as well (central), and there are TONS of amazingly delicious food establishments in and around the town I live in and also the town I work in. I try to make good choices, but I know how hard it can be when all you want is the crazy delicious sounding pasta with cream sauce or…

I'm sending a request. I'm 30, no kids, but I'm getting married in December. I'd be happy to cheer you on!

Bump for later! Thanks!!

Yay for running your first 5K!! It is a great feeling, isn't it!? Don't worry about your time; it will get better. After months of running around a 12 minute mile, in the last 2 weeks I've been running around an 11 minute or 10.5 minute mile. One of the reasons I like running is because I get to race myself!!

I had braces through middle school and I remember the first day or two being the worst, and then a bit of soreness when you had them tightened, but this is definitely not something you really need to worry about for more than a few days. For those days you have soreness or pain, stick with soft foods that don't require…

I almost always weigh before and make sure to use the MFP database entry for raw meat. I am not sure which is the 'right' way (or if there even is one), but whenever you go somewhere with a burger or steak something, they almost always say it's the weight before cooking, so that makes me think it's the norm.

I think it depends on your dietary needs/restrictions. I have had success with trying to increase my lean proteins (Chicken, shrimp, pork loin/chops), decreasing my red meat (beef), adding more fruits and veggies as often as possible, and switching to low-fat or fat-free dairy products. Fat-free Greek yogurt gets a huge…

I like to make a batch of steel cut oatmeal for the week. One batch will last me for 5 breakfasts. I make it relatively plain (I use a bit of butter, salt, and usually almond milk, though I subbed buttermilk this week and it's been yummy) and then I reheat it individually, adding what I want for that day to the oatmeal.…

Congratulations! Your story is so inspiring! I'm sorry about the loss of your husband, but your dedication is motivational. Thank you for sharing your story!

This thread totally made me cry. To add my two cents: Beautiful music- the kind that takes you out of the theater or your living room for the time you are listening. I'm a school teacher in a K-8 school, and it always gives me the warm fuzzies to see how well most of the older kids treat the younger ones- they are so…

Welcome! I too am 5' 3". I signed up for MFP in June of 2012, and started to seriously log in the beginning of July. My highest weight was around 235 lbs. So far, I've lost 61 lbs. My first major goal is 150 lbs, which I hope to be at by the end of June. Feel free to friend me or to check out my diary. I log it all- the…

Congratulations! December bride here! I started at the beginning of last summer because I knew that I didn't want to order a 'plus-size' wedding dress and pay more!!! Feel free to add me- I've lost almost 60 lbs so far! MFP is a great tool!

I can't figure out how to post it in the thread, but if you look at my profile picture, you can see a huge difference in my face.

I had half an avocado with my lunch today- Chili lime shrimp salad with avocado and mango over shirataki noodles. Avocados are high in monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs), which are also found in olives, seeds, nuts, certain vegetable oils, and chocolate (the dark or semi-sweet kind). MUFAs can help to reduce both…

Can you bring it to work and share? If there's something you particularly like and enjoy, save that one item and savor it when you eat it. The rest, bring to work for your coworkers. In my experience, if you bring it in, they will eat it. And from then on, you will be the nice one.

Thank you!! I like to think of it that way as well!
