  • When I was younger (<40) it was easy to lose 5 in a week. Sounds like water weight though if you have changed your diet. Keep it up whatever you are doing!!
  • The body would need more than 1200 to "maintain" where it is at based on your height/weight etc. If you want to lose weight you need to eat less. It should be individually based given your metabolism and goals. MFP also says I need to eat 1200 per day to lose. When you exercise it ups the amount of calories allowed a LOT…
  • I haven't read all the posts so forgive me if this has already been addressed? Have you been evaluated by a Dr? For the last year I have had terrible foot pain, and as suggested by another member, started cycling again to get off my feet. I used to walk and hike regularly, but the pain in my feet was so bad I had to give…
  • I need to cut out alcohol. At the end of each day that I have been over on calories, if I eliminated wine (really all i drink) I would be at or under my desired calories for the day. I have cut back, but not enough and the needle on the scale is still not moving. I do love my red wine......
  • My picture was at a charity bicycle ride earlier this year. I took up cycling again hoping that it would help me drop some weight....I keep hoping.....

If more than an hour I bring gel shots or GU, maybe a luna bar. Always have 2 bottles of water on the bike (in AZ). Protein shake with almond milk after, some days might add half…
  • When I get back from a ride I usually toss my clothes (shorts, shirt and bra) in the shower and wash them (and me) while I am in there. Occasionally I'll toss them in the hamper but that's usually when I am jumping in the pool after my ride rather than immediately showering. No real issues with smell when I do that.
  • Group rides are definitely fun, but you need to find a group that is at, or just above your level to challenge you. 25-30 isn't a bad length to ride, but if they are doing it at an average speed of 20mph, you won't have much fun if you are a beginner. Try meetup.com for groups in your area. You should find some that are…
  • I have been dealing with top of the foot pain in my right foot. Doc said it is nerve pain. No apparent cause other than to not lace shoes too tightly. May go for a cortisone shot at some point. Agree with other poster, rolling on golf balls or something similar may help. After a year of resisting orthotics (with metatarsal…
